  1. As someone who was a young teen at the time of the crash I can say most certainly me and my friends vastly reduced the amount of time we spent playing games. New console game releases slowed and then stopped altogether. The magazines we subscribed to went bi-monthly and then folded. My parents were too poor to afford a computer and my rural, small town school had a total of 3 computers so that wasn’t an option. Personally I went back to riding bike, hiking, reading books, and watching Hammer horror movies on the weekend. I recall the first time I saw a Nintendo commercial and I was shocked that anyone would attempt to market a video game system. In my mind the hobby had run its course. Of course I eventually fell in love with the NES but that love ended when I lost my virginity.
  2. I had nothing going on but I apparently miscalculated the time difference and failed to procure a copy.
  3. It is a reproduction of a rare game. I own a copy and it is the game in screenshot a couple of posts prior to this one. There is also a prototype version which I do not own. For some reason the Astrocade is the only system I have that I just don’t need to own original copies of the games.
  4. Yes, the 1505A. I always assumed the company name indicated a cheap product but I was wrong. They are made to order in Seattle, WA, using Belden brand cable. I believe they have a money back guarantee. I just wish the Astrocade didn’t have a hard wired cable because I prefer the option of choosing which interconnects I use. Here is a random video of their shop in action.
  5. Just wanted to share how pleased I am with the quality of the coaxial cable I recently purchased from Blue Jeans Cable. Their composite cable is also top notch.
  6. Not the best picture but this is RF via an Aurora demodulator with component output into a Sony PVM20M2U.
  7. Unfortunately I must ask to have my name withdrawn from the list.
  8. Plenty of great information to get started. Thank you very much.
  9. Awesome thanks? I have Basic. Am I going to have to type programs in line by line like we did way back then?
  10. Well I am not sure how I managed to post in the manner in which I just posted. Anyway this is my first time interacting with an Astrocade in person. I grew up in the country so I did not have access to the upper scale stores where, as I understand, the Astroscan was mainly sold. I did, however, have access to many magazines and was able to read about the system. Having said that my first question is: Where should begin learning about my Bally Arcade?
  11. Thank you. I obviously need games but how should about learning all I can’t about my new aquisition?
  12. A recent health scare has inspired me to purchase some of the more elusive systems of my youth. I managed to acquire this Bally in near mint condition with no scratches and damn near no dust. One of the controllers is still sealed. I’m running it through an Aurora V Tune into a Sony PVM 20m2md. Picture is soft stable and fairly clean. Apparently the Aurora will also output component so maybe I need to acquire some component cables. For whatever reason I could not get a decent screenshot.
  13. Several copies of Vector Pilot are available on eBay and the seller is located in Belgium. Judging by the description the seller is probably Kristof himself. I have no experience with the seller but you might want to send him a message.
  14. Wow, that sucks. Fortunately I had the opposite experience. Ok James was a week late on his promised completion date but he was very apologetic and I have no complaints with quality of his work.
  15. I have an extra Y cable. Make me an offer if you wish to purchase it.
  16. Thanks to everyone. I ordered the UP version for $34.71 shipped.
  17. Do I want the DOWN plug-in or the UP plug-in?
  18. Thank you gentlemen. My current mod is malfunctioning so I was ready to take it into service at my LGS so this seemed like an ideal time to inquire about improving PQ. I actually know how to use a soldering iron but I am just not confident enough to attempt the mod myself.
  19. I checked some of my old messages and it appears Bryan sold me the "plug-in" version of his board. Is this s-video compatible?
  20. I recently lucked into a really nice Sony PVM14M2U for only a $100. I really love how my Genny looks via a HD Retrovision cable but all my other systems are composite and are lacking in comparison. Here are my questions: 1. I currently use the composite mod I purchased from AA member Bryan several years ago. Is it possible to extract s-video from the same hardware? 2. When it comes to pre crash systems is s-video "close enough" to rgb or is rgb still worth the trouble? 3. I am aware that there is a RGB mod called Sophia that can extract rgb from the 5200. Is this still available? If so, how can this be purchased? 4. Is there a schematic available that I can provide for "my guy" to help him install Sophia? 5. What cable do I need to connect to a PVM?
  21. I'm no expert but the listing resembles closely the image that is in the Atari Age 5200 archives. I would certainly request additional images before considering a purchase. I have seen repro carts on Ebay and none of them resembled the carts that claimed to be authentic.
