  1. I tried tapping into the composite output, same black screen. Checked voltage on the 7406 at U8, I get zero volts between 7 and 14 (black lead on 7, red lead on 14). Am I checking that right? I get .436v when checking both pins with the red lead on either pin 7 or 14 and black lead on ground. I double checked the output of the 7805 regulator, and got 5.05v.
  2. Picked up a c64, black screen. I tested the power supply, I'm getting the correct voltages for AC and DC. I put a meter on the 7805, got 5v. Tested the 7812, got 12v. Power LED does NOT light up, but I get a solid black screen on channel 3 when hooked up via RF. I can also get the black screen to go to channel 4 by switching the 3/4 switch. What voltage is the power LED? CPU and VIC chips are both socketed, but that's it, everything else is soldered. Tried a cart, no dice. I don't have another C64 for chip swapping, at least not yet. What are my next troubleshooting steps?
  3. Somewhat related question... where can I find a good price on a replacement 6507 cpu chip? I founf a bad one in another unit I'm fixing.
  4. Wired up a quick A/V mod kit, video only just for a quick and dirty check. Success! So I guess I'll just mod this one and move on. Must have been a bad RF unit.
  5. I like the idea of testing an AV mod kit on the console. I think I'll try that next.
  6. Hi folks, I need some help diagnosing a problem with a 2600 vader that will not turn on correctly. I've metered the power switch, it's fine I've checked the power regulator, it's outputting the correct voltage I've checked the 3 socketed chips, they're fine I've replaced the crystal What's the next step here? I'm not unfamiliar with a meter, logic probe and soldering tools. Just not sure where to go from here. Turning the system on, I get absolutely ZERO response from the CRT. Nothing, nada, not even a flicker. Thanks in advance!
  7. Two interlocking storage bins with 38 Atari 2600 games. Games are all loose, untested. Several manuals also included, but I have not cataloged them. I'll try to get a list if needed. Here's the games: Video Pinball I Want My Mommy Venture Porky's Dark Cavern Alien Popeye Q*Bert Star Wars Jedi Arena Stampede M*A*SH E.T. Reactor Mega Force Video Olympics Home Run Bowling Casino Baseball Maze Craze Math Gran Prix Pac Man Dodge Em Golf Space War Basketball Backgammon Night Driver Football Commando Raid Combat Ice Hockey Laser Blast Fast Food Grand Prix Demons to Diamonds Barnstorming Air Sea Battle
  8. Has anyone seen anything that would work as an alternative to the Xbox 360 gamepads for retro console homebrew gaming? I've been reading up on the NES30 Pro from 8bitdo, but it appears that their gamepads only work with Xbox360 in a wired configuation. It's too bad, since they look like they makes some REALLY nice products. I'd love to be able to use their NES30 Pro on my Xbox 360 for playing NES, SNES, PS, and Sega/SMS games. Does anyone know of anything else out there that might achieve this objective? I'm tired of using the D-pad on the 360 controller - THAT sucks.
  9. Pair of Intellivision joysticks. One of them has been repaired with epoxy - no idea if the repair will hold forver, but it's holding for now. Priced accordingly. $15 for the pair, shipping included.
  10. Okay. Before I go the eBay route, I'll try him again via email. The address I have is [email protected] I'll try re-sending the message with a different subject line, and from another account. Thanks.
  11. I've called him twice with no response. Looks like I'll be buying elsewhere.
  12. Trying to order parts for my 5200 controllers. I've left an email and a voice mail for Best as of Wednesday last week. No response. Anyone know if there is any reason why I wouldn't get a response? Is there anywhere else (besides eBay) that I can get replacement parts for my controllers? I don't need an entire rebuild kit, just a few parts. Thanks in advance....
  13. I've got some OEM 3 button pads if you still need them.
  14. I have a Woody 4 switch 2600, and I need to trade it for a Jr - I need a smaller console to fit in 13" x 13" cubby in my entertainment center. Is anyone out there willing to trade me?
  15. Thanks for your opinion. I may pull a few uncommon ones.
  16. Correct. My first post on Atariage forums was for an Intellivision setup. This is the 2nd lot of stuff I got from the same old dude. All Atari 2600 stuff. Ignore the joystick adapters you see in the pics - those are Intelly, and they are claimed.
  17. Big thanks to the folks here who took faith in my post selling the Intellivision. Now for the other half of the goodies the owner gave me to sell: A 4 button Woody system with 37 games. The system is dirty; I still need to clean and test it, as well as the games. One of the paddles has a knob broken off, but I think I can repair it. Here's the game list: air-sea battle alien backgammon barnstorming baseball basketball bowling casino combat commando Raid Dark Cavern demons to diamonds dodge 'em E.T. fast food football golf grand prix home run I want my Mommy ice hockey laser blast M*A*S*H math gran prix maze craze mega force night driver pac-man porky's Q-Bert reactor space war stampede star wars Jedi arena Venture video olympics video pinball Here's a few shots of the carts I snapped quick the other day. Like I said, I haven't gone over the stuff yet. I'll work on that this weekend. But if someone wants to jump on this right away before I start cleaning, let me know. When I'm done cleaning / fixing / testing everything, the price on the package will go up.
  18. Thanks for the interest, folks. This system has been sold.
  19. Thanks for the kind recommendation Crazy Climber, yes, it's the same smalltownguy2 from WI. I understand I could probably make a bit more money splitting this lot up into pieces, as a few of these games together are worth more than my asking price, but as I don't deal too much with the pre 1980's console stuff, I'd rather let it go all at once. I have several chat messages on this set, so I'll go forward one at a time. Thanks!
