  1. being the poor family in my region in australia that had console 1 and 2 generations behind. in the late 90's i was playing super nes, nes, colecovision and x486 dos games on pc, and to this day i love games that use sprites and scaling way more than the 3d counterpart available today, i own a pc im on steam, and i play modern games, but i love retro more because it has originality, and a fun factor that modern games today just do not have.
  2. Games like Narc and Terminator 2 the arcade game are notorious coin swallowers. I have seen these games that i swear are impossible to beat, beaten on youtube. but then again it might have been dip switches altered so difficulty was toned down. as much as i like smash tv it is a hard game, id almost consider it to be a coin swallower but ive seen it beaten on 4 credits. Its a shame about Narc, i like it on the first 5 screens but then it gets ridiculous, id like to see a fan remake or spiritual successor to it. any bad "Coin Swallower" games i should know about id love to hear
  3. and 720 degrees which was Gameboy colour but was still compatible with my Gameboy pocket
  4. gameboy was like having a portable nes just monochrome, which didnt bother me, so many memories of playing dk land, dk 94, baseball, marios picross, mario land, james bond 007, pokemon red, i regret selling mine, sure i could emulate if i wanted to, but its not the same
  5. the exact same thing happened to me when my xb360 died, and i tried to redownload paperboy again, boy was i pissed
  6. I kinda just pieced 2 and 2 together finishing Yoshis island for like the 800th time, anyways, smurf rescue on colecovision, it was a very visionary platformer, its graphics where spectacular it eclipses pitfall graphically, its kinda like the super Mario world for colecovision, colecovision brought mario into familys living rooms, no disrespect to atari vcs donkey kong fans, but colecos donkey kong killed it, even though level 2 didn't have the boucing jacks, factory level... anyways the mushroom aspect that occured in super mario bros on the nes, i think miyamoto played smurf rescue on coleco, and gained inspiration from this game to put mushroom elements into the mario franchise, i mean coleco played a huge part in putting nintendos name in the home videogame market, thoughts please
  7. ] So my Coleco story didn't end in total tradgedy, even though the original controllers broke and the console got thrown out, I built my own replica, sure it isn't the real McCoy, the controller attached to my raspberry pi machine is off the coleco flashback plugged in via vision-dapter dongle, with coleco being emulated on CoolCv, plus ive got Atari 2600 on this machine aswell, its the best of both worlds
  8. CoolCV running on my raspberry pi 2 B+ arcade machine with a flashback controller connected to the system via, a vision-daptor
  9. Do you remember the first videogame you ever picked up and played? mine was Gorf on colecovision, it happened in 1993 when i was 4 years old, well its my earliest memory of videogaming, my older brothers got a coleco for christmas back in the late 80's, it boggles me as an australian, because colecovision was unheard of... you would think the odds are we would have had an atari 2600 in our househould because they were so common in aus, anyway. Gorf, i favour colecovisions Gorf over the arcade port anyday of the week, Smurf rescue, venture, zaxxon, ladybug, donkey kong, segas asteroids clone space fury, last but not least turbo with the steering wheel module. so fast forward to 95 we get a super nes, I think by then the P1 controller on the coleco ceased to work, metal leaf spring broke off, and the coleco sat in a cupboard till it either got trown away or given away or something, absolute bummer I know-sigh. but the story didn't exactly end in total tradgedy, after I clean up my place today, take some photos of my project, I will post my part 2 of this story. My Colecovision Future.. Stay tuned
  10. incredibly faithful port, even though homebrew, if Atari's programmers knew of these programming loopholes, this 2600 dk would have had the authentic true port, but then again coleco owned the rights to the 2600's port of donkey kong, I do have a conspiracy theory that the 2600's port was deliberately intended to be obsolete to the colecovisions
  11. The colecoflashback is indeed epic, I was disappointed about the licensing issues to get the games we all loved, lady bug, donkey kong, looping, Gorf, and the console got filled up with homebrew filler games, but I was amazed by the homebrew games, Mecha 8 is awesome, nonetheless im going to fit a Raspberry Pi B+ into my flashback so I can have best of both worlds, and in hdmi
