  1. I'd like it in a nostalgic 800 case.
  2. I have a ColecoVision with F18A and an Amiga with a Indivision ECS. I now want an eight bit Atari with VGA. Is there one I can buy already outfitted?
  3. Awesome work. I'm looking into F18A programming as well. I just want to build something cool and run it on my ColecoVision. I'll pm you and maybe you can school me a bit on F18A.
  4. How easy? I gotta watch some more videos. I grabbed a ColecoVision already modded and that was cool. Also, what about sound?
  5. Contact me if you know where I can buy one preinstalled.
  6. Are there any games with F18A support? I mean extended colors and hardware scrolling.
  7. I want to get an Atari that already has VGA built in and that can run games off a sd card. I like the retro look of the old 800 best but am not married to it. Is there a modding service for the vbxe or can I buy one with the vbxe already in? How do we do sd or flash drives? Is it just this MyIde option http://www.atarimax.com/myide/documentation/or are there others that are better? I might one day want more ram and a cpu speed up too.
  8. Looking at your F18A modded ColecoVision. PM me please. Also interested in the Adam.
  9. I have one too. Got it two months ago. It does rock. Also have a scart cable and a hdmi and a component converter. Hdmi has an odd smoothing effect when scrolling that the component does not. Component has buzzing audio but perfect video. Also ordered an everdrive for my N64 that I rgb modded.
  10. If you lived in a small town in Pennsylvania like I did there was no mall but there was a Radio Shack on Main Street and they had Tandys. So that is what we bought.
  11. Update. The Genesis cable is awesome but while moving the hdmi converter smoothes the picture and then it snaps back to clear when movement stops. The picture also darkens just a bit. I just ordered a scart to component converter to see if it helps. I think it will do less processing and might not have these nasty effects. Also ordered an adapter for my A600 to see how it works on the LCD. If thst doesn't work I'll pick up an Individision ECS.
  12. I worked there for a few months during college. I was one of only four programmers. At the time I was using Direct Draw at home and tried to convince the team to adopt it. They had their own lightning fast assembly language renderers for 2D and full motion video. I told them I could get better reform acne using the hardware with less code. At one point they asked if I wanted to go to lunch but said "but you can't talk about DirectDraw". I was working on Polly Pockets Adventures in PollyLand for Mattel. The game said that title every launch and drove me crazy. After a while they had me switch to building out printing support for the Barnett Bank online banking Netscape plugin they wrote. I had to teach myself Windows programming which was cool. I did that and then quit. They paid me $8.50 an hour as a C programmer. I also wrote a driver update for their Hot Wheels mouse which I don't thin ever shipped. I had a PC with a board that connected to a Genesis. My PC had roms on it and I could flash the developer cartridge whenever I wanted. We played games sometimes. There were about thirty 2D and 3D artists there, some producers who also did voice acting, and a sound guy. The tables were rough cut wood to go with the Gorilla theme. The owners were two brothers and they were also programmers. I demoed my 2D tank warfare game when I was hired in 96. It was my dream job but the reality kicked in and I kind of hated it. Sometimes I wish I had stayed but there were a couple of irritants I couldn't live with. I kept doing game programming at home for a while before I got sucked into corporate America.
  13. My first professional programming job was working at Gorilla Systems, the makers of this game. I sat across from Benjos, the main programmer. He was a really cool guy and was probably a genius. He wore the same t shirt every day but I didn't care. He had skills. That was back when I was 20 and still in school. Brings back memories.
  14. Cool. Great job. I gave my FM to my brother after I got th STE so I can't take advantage of this.
  15. Looks like I'm the only one with jailbars with the Best cable. I had jailbars on my Genesis until I got a new cable with "boosted sync" from retro console accessories. The jailbars are still there but are so minor as to be no longer a factor. They are so annoying on the ST that I don't enjoy gaming with them.
  16. I like my Best cable and it does mono but I don't use mono. I just boot into medium res and then switch to low res and then play a game.
  17. I am now playing with Genesis over scart to hdmi on a LCD tv. I have extremely minor jail bars there and I think it's fixable by going to a different type of sync or disabling the composite signal because sync is on composite. Is this possible on a ST?
  18. The jail bars look worse in person than in my pics. It's almost unusable.
  19. Here is a closeup of Civilization. You can see jail bars on the bottom. I'll get better pics.
  20. I got mine on eBay and they were shipped fast, packed well, and worked perfectly. Cheap too. Buy from a power seller.
  21. Brotherhoods sound like gangs to me. I have Tandys, an Amiga, and two STs. Can't really pick my retro computer. I feel most comfortable on the Tandy. The ST and Amiga are exotic.
  22. When you run in medium resolution in a game do you see strong vertical color bands with non primary colors? I do and it borders on the unusable. In tos I don't see it because the green displays fine. Certain colors create a banding effect that can be modulates by the fine adjustment but not eliminated.
  23. I just got my Tom in and it works perfectly. I plugged it in and programmed it to ST mode by holding down left button and clicking the right button six times on boot and my bargain store wireless USB mouse worked instantly! Perfectly smooth compared to the old ST mouse which had died. I also bought a Bluetooth wireless transmitter that is sending audio to a JBL speaker and it works well too. I haven't tried a game pad but I'll probably try my retro SNES controller. I also want to try this on my A600. Check out the pic. As it stands I have 4mb ste, LCD with the Best VGA adapter, Tom USB adapter, wireless mouse and audio.
  24. Yeah I saw that one. I asked the guy and he said the Tom will work with just about every mouse. Jerry is more picky and requires ps2 mode mice. I want to use cordless mice and game pads on my ST and Amiga.
