The one's I've seen were a single board computer, either a pc style or the 3 in 1 had a risc processor like a playstation. The double donkey kong is actually a board hack. The guy that invented it quit doing it. Mike halaand does them. http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl There's another guy that does them or at least used to. Dave Graboski? at Electronic amusements. He also sells 3in1's etc. I can recomend Mike completely. No comment about Dave.
I noticed you need a DK Jr board, and not a DK brd;( does mike repair as well? I just piced up a 'untested' Jr brd for $33:)
-
these run off the code.. are NOT emulation.. total new pc board.. I know what you are talking about and these are not them..
They are emulation' date=' it's not currently possible to put games that different on a single board. They don't even all use the same cpu architecture.[/quote']ahh, y bad;P So the boards that you see that are multi,, they use a emulated version of an xbox?? the ones Ive seen (mayber ther several types?_) looked like a totally unique board,, do they just steal the processores out of it (xbox)?

Did I do OK ???or did I pay too much for an R8.....
Yes
And so did the seller' date=' he found in a thrift store for cheap
He was offering it up for trade for 3 boxed NES games, any 3 Nes games as long as they were complete & some that he needed, guess he never found a good offer with that. Some online sites have it listed for around $100 or more loose, I think anything under $75 you got yourself a fair deal.[/quote']deff a good deal, I almost bought it for the bin!! VENTURE.. good god man
I cant believe you didnt jump on that one for $24.. I have sold 3 of these for at least $80 each and everone of em went asap.. not only is it a rare game, its a hard game to get in a nice label and its Fun game to play..
good score ! -
Looks like you got a decent deal on that Popeye' date=' congrats...As for your board query: The monitor that is in that game will only really 'work' with a Nintendo board. If you get the 9 in one, you will have to get a new monitor, and mount it somehow in that cabinet. Your monitor now runs off of isolated 100 volts, different than the 120 isolated standard monitors run off of. The inputs are not the same, so they cannot be directly swapped (most new monitors do not need an isolated voltage line, so you are in good shape there; just tap into the power switch wires).
The 9 in 1's are also JAMMA, which means you need a JAMMA harness and a switching power supply.
In all honesty, your cheapest bet would be to get a DK board, maybe put the rom upgrade and do DK and DK Jr in it. Dont forget you will need to turn you monitor the other way

Cassidy[/quote']
thanks;) but I was prob going to go new monitor anyway... I acutally used to restore cars for a living (no kidding;) and I plan on doing it as mint as possible being real detailed.. than with the 9-1 it would make a nice piece. I plan on making it look totally original DK tho.. kind of like what alot of people are doing with the Galaga and Galaxian cabs..
One other question.. is that wood painted or is that a laminant?
I got that DK board off ebay for just over $100
so looks like Im going the Double DK route.. any can point me were I can get the eproms as dirt cheap as possible?

I actually am employed by the local dpw and we have to sign a paper which says we can't scavenge. I think this is to stop people from stocking metal or something but every once in a while I'll get something. This stuff is thrown away all the time. It's pretty sad but well I understand just wanting to get rid of clutter.Mr Oni
duuuude.. you should grab every 2600 and games you can;)
-
hey I called that # and they didn't know anything about that game

-
I have all the ver of combat (text' date=' text #, picture...) 8 total -> 6 working...I want to know how someone killed a combat cart.[/quote']Do you have the 'gold' text version?? with the gold oouter ring on the end label
-
anyone else see this.. man,, this guy pulled this five hours before end,, was at $380
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=6101804951
I was going to go $700

-
I kinda like the pic of the guy holding the fish.. maybe that should be my new avitar

-
I once got a boxed that was packed real weird.. it contained a boxed 2600 but the box it came in had like 6 inch clearance.. so instead of packing material, ther person used magazines.. but didnt pull the pages out.. just magazines! but gave up after using like 10 or em so ther was still lots of slop.. sitting on the top.. a Mint Sports Ill SwimSuite Edition
yummy..but the photo's top that

I still don't understand why these are so desirable. Aside from the rarity and resemblance to an arcade panel' date=' they look like tremendously uncomfortable, counter-intuitive controllers. You'd need both hands just to operate the directionals, which would make having to hit the fire button while moving on a diagonal or, indeed, up or down, the next best thing to impossible without getting a foot involved.[/quote']err.. one.. it was made in Californa.. the company was one of the first third party makers of controllers.. two.. one of the first controllers to have a 'auto/multi/turbo" fire button (requires battery) three.. two hands was just like the REAL astroids coin op.. wich in the day was the goal of home games;) these are just kewl, retro, american gaming history controllers.. I love mine;) still looking for a box for the 'silver' version..
-
Just saved another 2600 from the dump this ones a 2600A it's in it's original box and appearantley was hardly used. Padde controllers had never been taken out thier box and the warranty card and instruction book were there too. I say bring me in more lol.Total 3 units so far.
Mr Oni
Working at the landfill and saving ataris.
yup, I too have found em laying out for the garbage man.. unreal.. actually, my ORIGINAL one I had as a kid.. my brother tossed it
those are the best 'saves';) -
Right.. all hardware operation.. and you can even use the coin op feature.. wich means you can even put it on a rout if you so desired;) truley just like the real thing!! If I score that DK board tommorow cheap' date=', well, going for the restore and resale.. if I get out bid... going muticade;)[/quote']
A pc is more complex but it's also repairable. Nobody I know will touch one of those multiboards. And it's not just like the real thing, I can tell the difference between emulation and the real thing.
BTW you'll have really funny colors with multicade. Nintendo monitors invert the video.

can those be used with the 2600? too bad the labels are coming off. so did you win these? congrats on the great score if you did.
yup, can be used with atari,, great for asteroids! I have one for ya 'wizard',,
Ill just set it aside, mine is in like new shape.. -
Someone posted on here that the Multi-Kong cabs/cocktails/boards they're selling for $1' date='500+ with DK, DK jr, Frogger etc on it are cheap PSX bootleg boards with a poor version of MAME running on it. The real Multi-Kong hack with DK and DK Jr on it has sound issues because the two games have different sound hardware.[/quote']Deff not the boards Im looking at..
-
I am deff keeping an eye out for a good donor williams cab too;) that is an awsome replacement board!!
-
If you're going to get one of the 9 in 1's you might as well make your own mame cab' date=' it'd be lots cheaper and better since it will save hi scores and you can pick your own games.[/quote']I generally agree' date=' a MAME cabinet is nice, but these multi-cabinets have some appeal to them. They are simpler in their operation and just "work". Turn it on, you get to choose which game to play, and poof you're playing. Yes, I know you can do that with MAME cabinets also, but having a PC in the mix makes it more complex. The 9-in-1 I saw was a cocktail, and has many popular games and the controls work well for those games (it was a converted Ms. Pac-Man cocktail). The multi-Williams I've seen is also great, and as I'm a big fan of Williams games I'd love to have one of those, even if I already had a MAME cabinet.

Here's a working board set - one day left and only up to $21 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13716&item=6101865825&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVWya, got my eyes on that;)

Ya' date=' I've seen that 9 game system on ebay.. about 1700 is as low as it goes.. I tried searching for that board but couldnt find it?? I did see the links listed above;) but can't find the 9 game brds.. any help for this would be great;) tnks[/quote']You could try Callan over at VidPin Amusements' date=' as he's the one who put together the machine that was sold in Houston last weekend. I personally do not know where he purchased the board from.
..Al[/quote']
tnks.. a phone call is headed that way:)
