1. What people seem to be forgetting is that the revolution will have ports for gamecube controllers. Don't like it? Don't play with it.
2. When a game came out on two systems from different eras, like both on the NES and SNES, did you ever like any better on the "inferior" system? One that stands out to me is liking the NES version of Battletoads and Double Dragon better than the SNES version.
3. It deserves to be reiterated. IT'S MODULAR. FUCKING YAY! It's about time, too.
4. Personally, I'd rather see another Grim Fandango, but that's just me.
5. Indeed. A compelling gameplay system comes firts. Everything else comes second.
6. I'm not sure if this is what he actually says, but Chipp Zanuff going "Ha! Beaten!"
7. Who's condescending? Lighten up buddy. If having one person on the anonymous internet disagree with your point of view gets you into this much of a tizzy, you're in for a rough life. Okay, deep breaths... You're chinese argument is valid if you are talking about someone who has never tried sweet and sour chicken in his entire life, and still refuses to do so. However, if a person has tried it and knows they don't like it, they are not ignorant or "just plain stupid" as you put it for not wanting to forcefeed it to themselves again and again just to reinforece their dislike of sweet and sour chicken. You say you don't like horror movies but loved Dawn of the Dead. How many painstakingly dull horror movies did you force yourself to sit through to discover that golden nugget? For me, it's not worth the time to play 150 shitty games in a genre I don't like in an attempt to find that genre's crown jewel. Calling someone "stupid" in an argument will get you nowhere. You will learn this. All I was saying with my previous post is that your post above that was pig-headed. My horror movie example wasn't the best, and I wouldn't have mentioned it if I had known you would be so highly offended. Speaking of statistics, some of us understand that since the dawn of the videogame industry 90% of all games released have been garbage. But if you feel the urge to play every piece of shit that comes down the pipe despite this in order to "keep an open mind", by all means be my guest. ...and if you can manage to dig yourself out of all that shit when you do find the diamond in the rough, do me a favour and let me know which game it is so I can give it a try. 930314 I'm sorry, but "Perhaps you don't understand that what you consider a "great experience", I might consider a boring waste of time." was condescnding, wether you meant it to be or not. I used the word "stupid," because, hey, I felt attacked and I gave it right back. Now, you are still working under that assumption that I have to play a bunch of different games to get to one. Not so! All I have to do is do some reaserch to cut throught the bad games and get straight to the good ones. How many movies did I have to sit through to find out I liked Dawn of the Dead? Just one, Dawn of the Dead itself. I looked at reviews of the movie and I listened to people's who's opinions I trust and took a chance and, hey, what do you know, I liked it. If I didn't like it, who cares? That's just one bad experience. Again, all you have to do is listen to reviewers, people's opinions who you trust, and compare games, and look at same developers. Just a little work that is incomparable to actually sitting with the games. Btw, I can name 20 titles on both the PS2 and Gamecube that I absolutly love. inpo: Soul Calibur 2 Resident Evil 4 NBA Street Prince of Persia: SoT Metroid Prime Katamari Damacy Viewtiful Joe Guilty Gear XX P.N. 03 Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance Ico Kingdom Hearts Castlevania: Lament of Innocence Alien Hominid Killer 7 Under the Skin Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure Mario Power Tennis Culdacept
8. http://cube.ign.com/articles/637/637494p1.html So, you guys admit that Nintedogs is not the biggest title like Nintendo hoped it would be? Thanks for proving my point. Until the relase of Twilight Princess, Nintendo is going to be in a lot of trouble, at least from my viewpoint.
9. Maybe "fucked" was too harsh a word, but I stand by what I said. Besides the new Legend of Zelda, which itself is delayed, Nintendo only has Nintendogs to make money. Nintendo is admitadely in a bit of trouble, espically since their hardware sales have been at an all time low, even with the DS (at least last I heard, it might have changed since then, dunno). Barring my information being wrong, Nintendo needs to make up revenue in the form of software sales, and I just don't think Nintendogs will do it, no matter how succesful it is. All it is is a flashpan title, and I really think Nintendo backed the wrong horse...or at least not enough horses.
10. So am I the only one who remembers Tamagotchi? Those were big and didn't last long. Or how 'bout the release of the live action 101 Dalmations? Pounds were flooded with dalmations months later and had to put a lot of them down. It's a virtual pet. It will get old and it will get old quick, no matter how well done it is. That's why all it is is a simple fad. Mark my words, the market will be flooded with second hand copies.
11. Driller-san now owns my soul! Geuss I just had to give it time to grow on me...
12. That's like telling someone who detests horror movies and doesn't enjoy watching them at all that they should go and see just as many horror movies as any other genre or else they'll "miss out on lots of great experiences". Perhaps you don't understand that what you consider a "great experience", I might consider a boring waste of time. 929631 Don't fucking condescend to me. It's like telling somebody that doesn't like chinese food to go ahead and try some of Sweet and Sour chicken, they'll just might like it. I hate horror movies, but I love the original Dawn of the Dead. I hate sports games, but I love NFL Blitz and NBA Street. I hate tactical shooters, but I enjoyed the first Rainbow Six. If I had limited myself to certain games and genres and eras then I would have missed out on those great experiences. Be open to new things people. Grow a little! It's not my fault that you're a close minded fool. Perhps you don't understand that with sheer number of games out there there's bound to be a title out there that you like. It's statistics, stupid.
13. No. Limiting yourself in any way in gaming is just plain retarded. You'll miss out on lots of great experiences that way and you will only hurt yoursel in the long run.
14. That did not answer my question. All that was was a thread of people gushing about it. "Oh it's so good! So good!" is not a valid answer. You lose. 929603 Just trying to help out... 929620 Oh, don't mind me. I've been a real asshole today. Nothing personal.
15. Maybe you're a Driller God. I've only played the original, for what it's worth. 929613 All bow down before me! I demand strict obediance! ...nah. I have noticed that I'm not that good at racking up points, but surviving? Ha! I'll drill down to the center of the Earth before they get me! ...Anyway, I think I should focus more on the points. Who know, I might be able to squeeze some enjoyment out of this title yet!
16. I have racked the difficulty up. I can clear the story mode in Mr. Driller 2 (gba) real quick, and survival mode, I can play for as long as it takes me to get bored (which, admittedly, isn't that very long, but I have a high tolerance for boredom). Maybe it really is challenging, but I'm just really, really good? Who knows, it's possible, and I've had it happen before. I think I'll try a different version before I make a final verdict of the series.
17. That did not answer my question. All that was was a thread of people gushing about it. "Oh it's so good! So good!" is not a valid answer. You lose.
18. I don't get it. What's the appeal of these games? I find it to be boring and not that much challenging, and challenge is what I look for when I play puzzle games. Could someone explain to me why it's so suposedly great before I completely give up on it?
19. Thank you. 929514 Hey, you know I always got yo' back when it comes to Final Fantasy. We agree so much about it it's uncanny.
20. And that's all that matters, doesn't it? *sigh*
21. Or don't. Sure, you can find some nice stuff on there, but almost every other thing is ESA protected.
22. In a couple of weeks the novelty will wear off like every other virtual pet and then Nintendo will be fucked. At least they're selling really god damned fast. edit: oh, and my advice to anyone that wants nintendogs: wait a couple of weeks and check the second hand stores and get it really cheap. They're going to be the most common freaking cart since Super Mario Bros, I swear.
23. *stabs sonic with hateful love* ... FFVII is a melodramatic (that word is so important that I just had to put it in italics) piece of outdated trash who's only saving grace is the materia system. FFVIII took away everything that was cool about 7 but kept the angst. FFIX was a step back in the right direction, but still flawed. It is a good game though. Don't get me started on the X's, or somebody will die. The End. Whew, glad I got that off my chest! That being said, some part of me just loves V the most. Changing job classes is fun!
