  1. ok, this is a bit of an oddity, 2 carts i own work fine on both my old heavy sixers but on modern juniors neither will boot, one cart is tigervisions king kong (unsure if pal or ntsc), the other is the official atari 32 in 1 pal cart. does any expert here know what the problem could be? obviously i've checked the contacts are all cleaned but cant for the life in me work out whey neither my rainbow jr or my vader jr will run those two carts (everything else i tested worked perfectly, some 30+ carts i had to hand). if it makes any difference both the jr's are av modded pal machines (done by different folks) and i've tested using multiple 1st party and 3rd party psu's (cherry leisure, ingersol and tadmod officials and 2 3rd party units) as i say both carts worked first time on both my pal and ntsc heavy sixers (both rf). has anyone else come across this issue or know a solution?
  2. ok, i have 2, details below. 1) ntsc atari heavy sixer sunnyvale s/n 71635L has chan select hole / markings doesn't have channel select switch location: kirklees uk. works perfectly but sadly new tv only displays it in b&w so about to get it a/v modded. condition: a little worn, colour loss on the orange bezel from wear. 2) cherry leisure pal atari heavy sixer sunnyvale s/n 79694 has chan select hole / markings doesn't have channel select switch location: kirklees, uk works perfectly even on a modern tv, no ghosting condition: as beautiful as the day it was unboxed, cosmetically perfect, original psu has been refurbished to replace the lead, 2x cx-10's one like the system is perfect, the other is sadly well used with much wear to the orange and the plastic boot holder missing, has all papwerwork but paddles were replaced with a later set (still official). sadly no boxes, i had to move house years back and threw away all my boxes to save space edit: as i used to work demonstrating these when ingersol took over i had to use their version but always preferred to use my own cx-10 as it was what i was used to but at the time i got my pal unit i was still playing on my channel f so it didn't get much use until the light sixers came along, my light sixer is heavily used.
  3. the actual sale said "FAMICOM FAMILY BASIC Cheat Program Guide Set Book Cassette Brand New Lode Runner" so that's confusing me. but this is the sale page on ebay along with more photos http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301174910334?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  4. ok, so after finally picking up nintendo family computer to go with my famicom i decided i needed something to test it with and managed to find a new cib game on cassette to try. it arrived this morning, the box contains two items, a sealed cardboard sleeve with a cassette in it and a 250+ page book entirely in japanese (not really any shock there) but i cant work out what the heck it is, i bought it thinking it was a copy of lode runner.
  5. which: cherry leisure pal heavy sixer where: local video rental store (only place that had them) why: upgrade to my channel f when: 1977 price: £229.99 (with combat cart, 2x cx-10 sticks and paddles) still got it, still works flawlessly
  6. it's a uk pal machine, has no channel select switch and now has no rf out as this is composite modded, it used to be fine on rf.
  7. first let me start by saying anything that needs doing will have to be done by someone else as i'm unable to even disassemble a system without assistance so to me nothing is "simple" here is my problem, i recently had my intellivision a/v modded by a company and now i have it back i'm having some display problems. about half the carts i've tried work fine (or seem to) but on the other half the top 1/3 of the screen is "torn" and discoloured. shows what the problem looks like. i should say this is a pal system and pal carts on a tv that can handle both pal and ntsc without issues and that this is the only system i've ever had any issue with like this. is there a solution? is it just a problem with the mod? any help greatly appreciated.
  8. i'm so far down the list now i'll probably be dead by the time its my turn
  9. the best flashcarts for the ds / lite were the cyclo ds evolution, the supercard ds one and the acekard 2 even better if you combined them with an ez-flash 5 3 in 1 card for the gba slot, anything with an r4 name on it was generally quite poor and the market got flooded with cheap crap fakes very quickly.
  10. oh dear, talk about late to the party, i'd like to order one please. are the cases removable? i ask because i have both models of lynx, can i just easily remove the cover to fit it in my lynx 1?, if not i'd better go for the naked model.
  11. as another uk prospective buyer i've been watching this so much that i fear it's going to cause screen burn on my crt monitor.
  12. thanks for that but the latest version of fds stick also does 256 sides and it comes cased (for 5 bucks more). still nice to know there is an alternative.
  13. ram cart, ebay as for ed n8, yes it does and absolutely no advantage if you have an evedrive, but if not this is much cheaper. (or if you collect flashcarts and want both).
  14. ok, firstly i'm not familiar with the toploader my nes is one of the early box ones however i have a converter that consists of a standard nes cart with a ribon cable coming out the top/front so the cart can be pushed down inside the nes) the ribbon cable goes to a small box with a famicom cart port on it so the fds rampack just plugs in there. the fds stick is about the size of a common usb sd card reader with a usb port on one end and a socket for the connector from the ram pack on the other so as olong as youu have a way to boot your ram cart you'll be fine. at present i'm having fun trying to get it running on my (us) snes with a retro port adapter and a 72 to 60 pin converter with the ram pack plugged into that and fdsstick attached to the ram cart lead, sadly i think my ram cart may have died, i've tried giving it a thorough clean with ipa but no joy so i've ordered a replacement ram pack. i can take a pick of the fdsstick plugged into the ram cart if that would be any use to you, but i'll have to be tomorrow as it's 4am here in the uk now.
  15. yes, exactly but if you buy an fdsstick make sure you get the newest version, the old one only holds 8 sides, the new one holds dozens, the latest firmware includes a menu program so you don't need to remember what is in every slot.
  16. holy shit, why not just set up a pipeline from my bank account
  17. 3ds has several (sky+, ds2+, gateway). as for what's missing as catpix said the ves never got a flashcart, several other systems have no available cart (either no longer made or never had or still waiting) i can think of, pokémon mini, jaguar, intellivision, 7800, v.smile, neo aes, ti 99/4a (has multicarts but only if you have a near impossible to get memory expansion), megaduck / cougar boy, gameking that i can think of off the top of my head.
  18. i sort of agree although other than the authentication side it's basic setup is akin to any of the ds flashcards, put file on micro sd, plug micro sd into black fin vita game card and boot it (once set up to authenticate).
  19. another one to add maybe? "black fin" an sd based flashcard for all models (and firmwares) of ps vita (launching around mythmass) preorders will open soon.
  20. thanks, i'll take some photos of (whats left of) the inside of my shell later tonight, i cant do it at present as my kitchen looks like a bomb went off in a clothing factory as my career is doing the washing .
  21. i was thinking of how my turbo everdrive shell fits it doesn't go over the side anywhere it just covers the half of the top side that clears the system, but i get what you are saying, my current lynx flashcard is juans great little 16 in 1 so from time to time that does need pulling to change whats on it.
  22. i know this may sound stupid but couldn't you do some kind of half shell for the lynx 1 just enough cover at the top of the cart to prevent people using the compoments as ridges to aid removal, i know its a massive pain to get out on my current lynx flashcart without using the caps as a grip.
