  1. Hey, so when the UDS 10 is configured for use with Stuart's web browser, does it have to be reconfigured for use with TIMXT? More directly, do folks using it to telnet to BBS's just dial with Cxxx.xxx.xxx.xxx,port instead of using it in AT command modem mode? [email protected]
  2. I was able to get TurboForth running on my Geneve, just had to add GramKracker headers to the bin files. Cool... I noted that there is a KDEL setting to deal with keyboard repeat rates, which makes me wonder how well my USB keyboard works in TurboForth. So my TurboForth question is: Can the roms be used on a 512k red board if I flood it with the first 8k page, and then put the 2nd 8k page in the right spot on the 512k eprom? Why, cause I have 512k uv eproms... [email protected]
  3. Acadiel, I look forward to seeing how you set these up. I posted some shots of this in the systems thread, but to followup, this is how I went with the Gotek installed in my PEBs. I have each gotek drive in a 3.5" -> 5.25" cheap plastic adapter. The LCD1602 display is mounted on the adapter with 2 standoffs. I have modified the gotek drive casing to hold the 'select' button for the hxc firmware when the non-indexed mode is used. I just left the index display sitting there, but not connected. It is mostly obscured by the added LCD. And you get to see the nice filename for your disks. RW stats, track access. The hxc firmware has drive A: image select and drive B: image select, but I haven't spent any time looking to see if that is actually supported on the Gotek drives. For my floppy cable, I get confused behavior on the drive select too, ( I'm using them as DSK1. ) so I have taken PC drive cables and un-twisted the ribbon under the connector ( gently take the connector off, and put it back on. ) [email protected]
  4. I wired it up wrong Wednesday. Had to work too late Thursday night. But I finally rebuilt the cable and got the UDS and TI talking last night, using TIMXT. Today I'll make a browser cartridge eprom, and then go from there. Are you partial to a particular software stack? Something linux friendly? Most of my experience is in java below the web stack, but I have JSP'ed, Grailed, cgi'ed w/perl, Clojure/Clojurescripted, and mostly do REST api now. I probably looked at php once. But PHP strikes me as a healthy choice for getting patterns established, and it is easy to deploy to hosting sites. [email protected]
  5. Looks like we will need to employ the buddy system while we are there. Nobody 'split up' cause you know how that turns out in the movies. And if you cannot see I-5, go back to where you can see I-5. Of course, most of the worst has probably subsided now that ckoba has given up his hunting ground. [email protected] (disclaimer: The above is all meant in jest. Humor does not always translate to textual form. If you don't see it as humorous, it is your fault. )
  6. Rich, I can make sure you get there and back. I'm coming from Beaverton OR. [email protected]
  7. There is no license statement with the source, so even though it is all there for all to see, in the US, the we are not granted any right to copy it. The github folks were at OSCON about 3 years ago, making a big push regarding that. If you've got open source, you need to grant license as well. I added an issue on github. Hopefully the author will actually open this up for collaboration. [email protected]
  8. Isn't this one of the games with the secret code for infinite lives?
  9. I am a developer, thanks to my early exposure to the TI. And I am practically your neighbor. ( unincorporated Washington County near the edges of Beaverton and Hillsboro. ) The filter is cool. The hint to aim at mobile sites is a good one, as they frequently reduce the noise. As popular as 'Bootstrap' is, it might even be possible to transform the layout. I was also thinking about adapting a static site generator like Jbake, to include STUARTML or whatever it is called automatically when generating sites from markdown. Just ideas at this point. I must start soldering a serial cable together for my UDS, so I can try some of this out. ( Someone must have noticed this already, but the UDS-10 mac-address always has '4a' in it. 00-20-4a-___, a nice way to identify the IP address from the home router ) [email protected]
  10. I had the impression it was just a 'cartridge' with 'autostart' flagged in the header so the TI title screen was skipped... Did it actually modify grom space? That doesn't seem necessary for what it did.
  11. This is cool ElectricLab, I was going to ask if anyone thought a translation proxy would be useful I just received my UDS 10 in the mail today, so I'll be getting on board and trying all this out
  12. Did ever there exist any programs that ran from within the TI environment on the Geneve, that then manipulated the cartridge space, Grom or Rom? Since it is still RAM, it seems it should be possible. [email protected]
  13. In the Geneve folder on whtech, there is the mdos_gpl_util.hd, and in the 9640news folder on whtech, there is the all.hd. I never got them running, there was a thread on here about that... Where Gazoo was helping someone get his image running. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/222783-9640-news-on-one-hard-disk-image/page-1?do=findComment&comment=2941192 http://ftp.whtech.com/Geneve/9640news/all.hd http://atariage.com/forums/topic/219686-geneve-support/?do=findComment&comment=2885278 http://ftp.whtech.com/Geneve/mdos_gpl_util.hd <-- If I remember right, when I dug around in here, there were games and such... and a menu... it was just too much for me to start with... [email protected]
  14. I'm pretty sure the worst thing that happened for game development on the TI was that E/A came with the source for Tombstone City, and that had a few sound lists in it that seem to have been used in 90% of all the other games. [email protected]
  15. The '2's are losing to the '1's in the poll... If half of you '1's would give your PEB's to the other half, then there would be more '2's. I'm sorry, that isn't productive, but my brain is tickled by absurd logic. [email protected]
  16. I'm in. That looks nicer than I expected from your earlier descriptions cool. [email protected]
  17. I was as looking on the gglabs website, and there are schematics that include the c-sync converting LM1881 chip, but comments that the 2gs didn't need some things. He had built early boards that had a spot for that chip. I just went ahead and ordered one for kicks. I will probably need to clean the Geneve's c-sync first, as was necessary with the GBS8200 upscaler. [email protected]
  18. Thanks, that might help... I'm probably looking for Navarone Super Bugger. maybe...
  19. I understand there is a DEBUG program for debugging on the TI? I've been looking/searching around, but have had no luck. Anyone have a link? [email protected]
  20. That's awesome to hear. FYI, I was running into issues with F4/BREAK in basic not responding for programs like: But I've posted a firmware update that fixes it. http://ti994a.cwfk.net/downloads/TI99USBKeys-bin-2016-01-31.zip [email protected]
  21. I have an iogear vga kvm, and just want to add for the record, that the f18A interacts with it just fine. My setup is not ideal either though, as my pc uses HDMI for the display. We need Logitech harmony kvms to become a thing. [email protected]
  22. I had to uninstall some stuff, and the downloads resumed working as expected. My bad. Internet protocols like FTP would be cool, the UDS, I am assuming stops at the TCP/IP stack, right? It isn't actually implementing any higher level protocols like TELNET or HTTP?
  23. Also, thanks for the reminder about how the F18A solves the common failing VDP memory issue... I finally got off my butt today, and installed one in my 'broken' console and it is functioning beautifully. I think Omega posted about this in his blog, but I needed a kick in the pants to try it out.
  24. It seems to me it would be easier to get WHTECH to support file browsing and download over HTTP with simple index html instead of the complex pages for HTTP that are their. And then download support with some smarts around TIFILES headers. FTP is actually a completely different protocol than HTTP, they are at best peers. There is nothing about HTTP that supports FTP. Browsers on the other hand, tend to be multi-protocol clients. (file:, http:, https:, gopher:, ftp:, etc... ) HTTP can transfer files without using the FTP protocol at all. HTTP is actually a much simpler protocol for file transfer than FTP. I would be happier to see more HTTP supported than jumping protocols. It would be awesome to have the whtech repository available directly to the TI. (I'd also like to be able to access WHTECH from my Android phone, so I can read the old magazines on the my morning train commute, but WHTECH refuses to transfer any files to the Android client's or browser that I have tried.)
