  1. I wonder if best electronics has some the Grey adapters poking around but I highly doubt it. I need to order some TIA chips anyway so maybe when get around to ordering those I'll ask them. I honestly don't get why the original atari heavy 6er is worth more than the sears (at least that's trend that I have noticed). Maybe the sears heavy 6er is more common than the original? I honestly don't get the price difference but I'm personally glad I didn't have to pay more than $100 for the system itself.
  2. I honestly couldn't care less about having the original power adapter and TV game switch as I already have working power adapter and metal coax adapter. Those TV game switches just look like unnecessary fire hazards these days.
  3. Currently there are like two cib opened (admittedly good condition) sears heavy sixer listings on ebay trying to get $500+s&h. Just check the sold listings and you'll find plenty similar condition cib's for barely over $100.
  4. yeah I figured as much considering that cx-40's are shown on the box art. I have seen the Grey power supply before but the only one currently on ebay is like $40+s&h and that seems like a crazy price for a power supply. Also just noticed that the title says sizer instead sixer but that is what I get for typing this out on a phone.
  5. I don't really like playing the atari 2600 with cx-40's so I usually use Gemini controllers when I absolutely need a joystick, and genesis gamepad for any game that feels good using it.
  6. So I bought a sears heavy sixer in the box on ebay about eight months ago and I have some questions about the contents of the box. The controllers that came with the box appear to be cx-40's so I was wondering if any of the sears heavy sixer's came with cx-40's originally or if the controllers I got were replacements. I also didn't get target fun with the box so I was wondering if that came cart only or cib. I am missing the original power adapter and TV switch box so I doubt I would ever actually complete it, (the box is in fairly poor condition anyway) but I am still curious about it. What do you guys think about the sears heavy sixer? I personally love the silver control panel and simulated walnut wood grain. I honestly like the aesthetic better then the regular atari vcs. For $90+s&h in box I think it was well worth it.
  7. while not a perfect translation joust is probably my favorite atari 2600 game.
  8. I've got one complete in box. It's certainly the jewel of my atari 2600 collection.
  9. I don't think we will be able to determine what the best stick is. It really all comes down to prefrence. Personally I like my wico bat for a joystick and my genesis controller for a gamepad. I'm not a huge fan of the cx-40 but I do like the coleco Gemini controllers. It just depends on the game which controller I favor. I am defenently gonna try to get a silk stick at the Portland retro gaming expo.
  10. Cool find but I didn't think Imagic had released enough games to fill that thing up.
  11. this is awesome Steven Lillard "AtengaGames" Oregon City, Oregon
  12. This is awesome Fast Food is probably my favorite 2600 game so this is really cool to see. Shoot outs to Neotokeo2001 for retooling this hack and improving on it quite a lot.
  13. Those Double ender's are enticing but would be annoying to put on a shelf with other 2600 carts.
  14. I only own Fast Food, but seeing that numerous people have recommended other Telesys games I will have to lookout for more of those. Also shout outs to being a fellow Oregonian (the bike riding character as your profile pic is nice touch being familiar with Portland).
  15. defiantly love wizard of wor but haven't tried the other games.
  16. Dang that sucks well best of luck of trying to find one more local.
  17. check out this site http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/ They should have the pal TIA chip for like $8.00 (5.16 British pounds or 7.29 euro) for sale but I'm not sure if they ship internationally but I think they might.
  18. yeah the NTSC copies seem to priced on ebay anywhere from $40 to a little over $100 (mind you these over $100 listings are all buy it now's) so they seem to prohibitively expensive in a lot of regions. This is actually my most wanted Atari game right so I feel for for you man.
  19. Hmm another Telesys game I don't have this so I will have to pick this up sometime. Also I'm underage so I'm really not supposed to drink a "nights worth".
  20. I think calling E.T. the worst 2600 game is so stupid because in terms of gameplay it's not fantastic but I hear plenty of people enjoy it, and there are much worse games on the 2600 platform. I only I think it could be considered the "worst 2600 game" because of it's huge financial loses, but other than that it is just an underwhelming adventure game
  21. Here is the screenshots of turmoil and fast food that I promised because for some reason it kept failing to upload the .PNG's earlier.
  22. This question has probably been asked on here already but I thought it would be nice to start a new thread about it. What are your personal favorite 2600 games that could also be considered a hidden gem? Please try to include screenshots if you can find them, the company of manufacture and a short description (or not so short if you would like) of the game. I have two personal favorites: 1. Fast Food by Telesys: Game in which you play as a disembodied pair of lips eating up as much food as you can to gain "calories" or score as most people would call it. The food files from left to right at various speeds (some moving faster than the lips can) and you can pretty much move anywhere in the play field but watch out for the eggplants (or pink pickles as I like to call them because they have the exact same sprite as the pickle just pink colored instead of green) because if you eat 6 of them the restaurant closes (Game Over). After a certain amount of food has passed a new round starts and the food gets faster. There are various types of food as well and different foods will net more or less calories. Unlike something like stampede there is no penalty for letting food pass by you. The strategy of this game all involves the position of the lips, the closer to the left of the screen you are the easier it is to eat more food but makes it harder to dodge eggplants, and the closer you are to the right of the screen the harder it is to eat the food but easier to dodge eggplants. This game is for those who love twitch based gameplay and want to test their reaction times. This is honestly probably my favorite Atari game I've played. 2. Turmoil by 20th Century Fox: A single screen shooter in which your object is to blast as many enemy space ships as possible (I know super groundbreaking stuff for Atari 2600). While conceptually unoriginal it's the layout of this single screen that's intriguing. Instead of just being a horizontal or vertical single screen shooter you have to worry about all four cardinal directions. Your ship can move up and down along a column in the center of the screen and face left or right. On either side of this center column are seven rows stacked on top of each other in which enemies of various types will come at you one at a time per row from both the left and the right. These enemies have various properties including having different speeds, shooting projectiles, invulnerability from the front, and more. you die by get hit by a projectile or colliding with a ship passing the center row. There are also these eggs(?) that will spawn within the rows every once in a while in that can be collected for major points (this is the only time you can travel down the rows). If these eggs(?) are left uncollected for to long they'll hatch(?) into an incredibly fast frog(?) enemy that can be extremely hard to deal with, but be careful as when your in the rows because an enemy can spawn in the row your occupying and you can't shoot while in the row. This game is an amazing S.S.S. (can I coin this abbreviation or is it to silly sounding?) that is a complete far cry from the standard space invader clones the system is riddled with. The term "Hidden Gem" is pretty subjective term especially for the 2600 library (barring the obvious Black Label Atari produced games and most Activision titles) and even more so on this forum with extremely knowledgeable 2600 collectors so let's try not to get hung up on whether a title is really a hidden gem or not. I'm still fairly new to 2600 collecting so all I really want is to learn about games that don't often get brought up when discussing good Atari 2600 games. I want this to be a thread for those looking to expand their library of good Atari 2600 games to come after they have picked up the well known classics. *Couldn't find useable screenshots right now have to go but will try to post some later
  23. I have an issue with a sears video arcade when it turns on all i see is static(ch3) or repeating black bars(ch2). I already tried replacing the rf cable and adjusting the color pot. any help would be appreciated. also the channel switch designates the channels as a and b so I tried channel 2 and 3 and neither worked.
  24. Thanks for the reply but that's what I was afraid of. Luckily I a have sears video arcade 2 on the way so hopefully that will work.
