  1. I have a friend that claims he has an inside source at Toys r Us that stated they got a shipment of these consoles which will be available tomorrow morning. He has been driving by the store all day to make sure there is no line and will continue doing it throughout the night just to make sure he gets one for his kids to open Christmas morning. He said no reseller is going to stop him getting one of these things. I wished him luck and told him I hope he is not wasting his time.
  2. I decided to pick up The Legend of Zelda Gold cart for the NES and still have cash leftover. I'm thinking about grabbing Metroid for the NES as well since I don't have that one either.
  3. Did you tell him to stick his $100 NES where the sun don't shine.
  4. I'm hearing this exact sentiment echoed in my circle of family and friends. This article pretty much sums it up on the whole NES Classic fiasco. http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2016/11/26/between-the-mini-nes-classic-edition-and-3ds-nintendo-is-blowing-their-holiday-hits/#37c47697d8ef
  5. I guess we will never know how well the NES mini could have performed against the other consoles during the Thanksgiving holiday had Nintendo not f'ed-up with such a small number that was released. No doubt in my mind that they lost out on a lot of money, and I am gonna go out on a limb by saying that the money people had allotted for this device was spent on something else.
  6. Classic example of manipulating the law of supply and demand.
  7. It does makes sense but I would bet my portfolio on it that their strategy can have long term implications in the possibly of losing loyal customers and potential profits both short-term and long-term. I don't know, but something about the Nintendo company doesn't sit right with me and wall-street definitely agrees with me when I scour over the history of their stock price performance. That alone tells me that this is not a company you want to invest in for the long-term.
  8. Those are great investment vehicles too. I started with those many years ago and once I built up my capital I began slowly selling them off to invest in individual stocks to build my own portfolio.
  9. I guess if this is working for them why change it, however, I keep getting the feeling that they are leaving a lot of money on the table with this type of strategy. This is why I would never invest my hard earn money into their stock. I'll stick with the blue chip stocks like Exxon, Wal-Mart, 3M, Johnson & Johnson, McDonald's, Proctor & Gamble, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, etc. that all have growing dividends.
  10. Is Nintendo that dumb that they can't figure out supply and demand? I wonder how many casual customers they are going to miss out on if they don't restock before Christmas. Most casual shoppers are not going to be looking for these things unless they are readily available on the shelves. Once Christmas has passed, a lot of casual folks will not be out shopping for awhile so this begs the question of: "Is Nintendo that dumb?" I know once Christmas passes I won't be shopping for anyone unless its one of my kids birthdays but that isn't till summer. Maybe the need a new product manager: https://parcusgroup.com/blog/how-to-estimate-market-demand-for-a-product/
  11. I am surprised you found any retro games in the actual store since they seem to mostly sell them on their online store or on eBay (under a different name). Maybe since they recently opened the retro initiative for all their stores that we will be seeing them more and more on the shelves. Not that I care because I would never buy anything from them since they over-price their crap.
  12. Did anyone actually purchase one for themselves or are they all on eBay selling for ridiculous prices. These people are lame!
  13. I'm gonna wait till this mini NES hits thrift store shelves for pennies on the dollar.
  14. Actually selling. You can see how many they have in stock and how many has sold already. So yes people are buying them.
  15. Check out the ridiculous eBay price gouging that is going on with this mini NES. I can't believe some people are willing to pay those prices.
  16. I completely agree. If you want eBay prices then sell it on eBay. I put money on it that none of it sold. Who is gonna pay those kind of prices for systems you can't test on the spot.
  17. I don't know because he said he had to look it up first so I told him never mind. To make a long story short he had other systems that were over-priced compared to eBay. But for some reason he did not have a price off the top of his head for the Atari. When I asked about the Atari I began to get the story of how rare the system was and how he worked at Konami, blah blah blah. Just wasn't interested knowing the price after that point.
  18. I hit up about 20 yard/garage sales today and found a lot of different console systems ranging from a complete boxed mint condition heavy sixer, N64s, Game Boy Colors, XBOX 360 Elite systems, to a complete boxed mint condition Nintendo NES Action Set. However, they were all asking eBay prices. If I wanted to pay eBay prices I would buy it straight from eBay and not from some stranger untested. I think people have forgotten what yard/garage sales are suppose to be about. A complete waste of time and gas today considering I couldn't find anything to buy and I am not talking about just gaming stuff, absolutely nothing worthwhile. It has been a long time since I went out hunting at yard/garage sales and now I remember why i quit doing it. Nothing like being snapped back to reality.
  19. Pretty good score because at my local thrift stores they will price just one wiimote for $12 and up.
  20. That would be a cool thread but I have never encountered loose parts. Just mainly hack jobs and unusual crap. Like a couple of crispy dead roaches inside of an NES console. I also found a couple of empty spider nests inside two of the screw holes on another NES. Weird unidentifiable substances. This is not game related but when I was doing an engine swap I found shelled peanuts under the intake manifold that was probably left their from an assembly worker.
  21. That example will not resonate with most Americans. I have never even heard of a lorry. I'm not even sure what you mean by mini. Mini Cooper maybe???
  22. Picked up this Sega Saturn with game from a thrift last weekend for $11. In excellent cosmetic condition and works perfectly.
