Just as long as we all understand these boys are late to the "dibs" party.

Oh... these WiModem232s are taking up soooooo much space... however will I decide how to get rid of them?????  The pondering is exhausting!

Huh? I was just curious if he might have a copy of one of my favorite ST games of all time. Epyx’s Rogue. That’s all.

I added a IBM Model M (the world's BEST clicky keyboard) to my set up and I love it.  Use the MyTEK adapter to use a PS2 type keyboard and you'll be set.    https://thebrewingacademy.com/collections/atari-800-xl-xe-xel-xld/products/tk-ii-xegs-s-ps-2-for-xegs-keyboard-replacement

As for video mods, it's a personal choice.  I find the video output from the XEGS to a CRT to be just fine for me.  Plus, it allows me to use the light gun and the Atari lightpen on a CRT.  I like it simple.

My video output is decent, I think I'll keep it as is for now. I was just curious if S-video would be a real benefit.

Thanks for the keyboard adapter link and label idea! Speaking of labels, my ultimate cart label keeps falling off! Any idea's? Actually I'd like to replace the whole shell.

Ohh here's a couple pictures of my modern setup. The first one with my Grandson was taken about 2 years ago. Big thumbs up for Montezuma's Revenge! And the 2nd picture was taken a couple days ago.

I always liked the looks of the XEGS. Some hate it. I love the pastel buttons.  It's my daily driver.  Very easy to upgrade to 128K (130XE mode).  Other than that, leave it alone.

I love it's looks too. I wish the text on the buttons was easier to read. Easy upgrade to 128K? Interesting...Anyone use S-Video on the XEGS?

Here are some screen captures from an 800XL -> RetroTink 2x Mini -> Elgato Cam Link. The stock S-Video in B&W is the giveaway it's an 800XL.

I was wondering if I should expect the same from my XEGS with a S-Video cable on it?

edit: without any extra hardware. Is it worth it to upgrade from composite to S-video on my XEGS?

Doing some cleanup, and found this: the price list from Irwin Electronics (Canadian Atari distributor) from January 1st, 1983.  (Divide by about 1.25 to convert from Canadian dollars into US dollars).

    Atari Canada 1983 Price List.pdf 1.46 MB · 47 downloads

Star Trux? typo for sure. lol

999.00 for a A800 in 1983,crazy! I think I paid under $300 USD for my 800XL in September of 83. I did so much work around the house and grandparents house to earn the cash to get it. But luckily may father meet me halfway.. and Christmas the 1050 made it way under the tree. Ohh.. sorry , no pictures..

edit: wow! was I wrong: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-star-trux_5005.html

  6. Thank you Secret Santa!!!! Your right, the homemade toffee is super addictive! The wife and I really enjoy it. Only a couple pieces left.Yummy!

Awesome Xbox games to play while I'm on vacation next week...two open world RPG's to play, which one shall I to play first???? hhhmmmm

The Buckyballs are a neat little diversion. I keep them near the xbox to mess around with when games download updates.

Thanks again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! 🎅

Well, it's not just the package that was sent to my Secret Santa that seems lost somewhere....the package for me was supposed to come today but it's also not giving any updates.  Both just say 'late and on it's way to it's next destination.'

Anyone else seeing their boxes stuck in la-la land?

The post office is REALLY bad this year!

Same here. A week late and zero updates on the tracking number from USPS. Christmas is still a few days away. I still have hope! 🎅

I am loving the game on my Xbox One X... it plays really well in my opinion.

I'm so happy to hear that. From what I just read online turning off a lot of the extra graphic effects smooths out the frame rate.

Overall, it's been a treat to play.  I haven't noticed any bugs or screen/graphic issues.

This gives me hope. So nothing game breaking yet. Good news again.

you can also tackle things using your hacking skills and I find that a lot more fun (almost like being a magic user in a D&D style RPG)

This sounds like how I play games like Deus Ex.  Lots of hacking! 😁 ... and stealth.

I look forward to your next post after you get some more time playing it.

I'm pretty much sold on the game now. I have the week off between Christmas and New Years. I think I'll pick it up then. That way I can get a lot of uninterrupted play time.

    Cheers

I'm hearing the base consoles aren't doing so well with it... I'm downloading and installing the update for my One X and will see how it performs.  I will upgrade to the Series X next year some time but I'll be ok playing it on my One X until there are some games I want on the Series X.

How is the update with Cyberpunk on your Xbox One X? I'm curious how well it runs on it. Thinking of getting it, I own a Xbox One X too.

  10. I'll pick it up the week between Christmas and New Years as I have that week off from work. I hear it runs decent on the Xbox One X, that's the system I own.

The comparisons to GTA5 seem silly to me, I didn't make it past the 2min mark in that video. Maybe my opinion will change once I play it.
