    True dat.

Did he say "Why, It's f*cking mega legs all over again?" OMG!! I nearly pissed myself laughing!

I think I'll take 24 hours and check out my games for my favorite cover art. Without getting up and looking I'd say off the top of my head:

Atari 2600 Bezerk, Colecovision Gateway to Apshai and Atari ST Dungeon Master. I remember Genesis games having great box art. Crüe Ball, The Immortal, Kid Chameleon.

Oh, and Gran Torino is a masterpiece Eastwood film.

    Love your work @CurlyQ !!!

I love that you have Tron and Super Pac-Man in it! And oh man, Zaxxon! I played that to death on my way to high school in a local convenient store.

Funny thing is, whenever someone asks me what the first 3D game I ever played was. I almost always answer Zaxxon, That isometric view left a lasting impression on me back then.

I'd like to thank you and Tommy for inspiring me to get back into Paint Shop Pro. My stuff is nowhere near your artistic level. But that doesn't matter, I'm having so much fun lately.

We had a free ad appear in Old School Gamer Magazine today!  It's in the middle and the back cover.

Obviously this was something super simple targeted to the retro audience, but just thought that I would share it with the group here.

What about the very early preliminary box art for Amico? Or maybe very late, look 9 games included! 😜

Phew!   Getting harder and harder for me to keep up to date with this thread.  But just know that I'll always try to do my best.  So many amazing things happening at Intellivision right now that is taking so much of my time.

    Speaking of Farrah...

QUESTION!  How many folks here had THIS poster at one point!

    REDD-2.thumb.jpg.0cca698ed600f52a857e4126de6a7528.jpg

I also had the Catherine Bach / Daisy Duke and Heather Thomas.

I did! On the backside of my bedroom door! Mom hated it! Dad gave it the thumbs up! LOL

I love the line at the beginning when Flynn wants to take his son to the arcade to have a crack at the old man's score, and Sam just said "Can we play doubles? On the same team?"  We're always on the same team.

I love this scene! Damnit! I want my Tron 3! 😥

Sam was just saying he wanted to play with his dad, not against him.  If only there was a game system where they could do that....

Imagine If they took that scene and used it for an Amico commercial? That would be epic!

We won't know the full effects of COVID until after the lockdown is over.  Los Angeles county just said that businesses can't open until August now.

Wow! I had no idea it was that bad! We have mandatory face covering here in Massachusetts. But I hear some restaurants will be able to open and hold up to 50% of its seating capacity.

As of right now one of New England largest state fairs( https://www.thebige.com/ ) is still green for its September run. Which is weird, everything else outside is closed, cancelled or postponed till next year.

Actually not so odd considering it brings in close to ($750 million says the local news) to the area in its 17 day run.

They keep telling me over and over not to worry.  And if this crap continues for another month... it's out of my hands.  :(

Man I feel for ya Tommy.. We all know how much that date means to you. Hopefully it all works out.. would the absolute worst case scenario be it launching it early next year? Say, on your birthday?

Funny you posted that. I just saw a video on Animal Crossings Animalese and beep speech over the years. It's an interesting watch. I like the Q-bert tidbit.

It's still very playable these days via the excellent (and still actively maintained) Killer App mod:

My boxed copy is within arms reach. I guess it's time to find out if Tron 2.0 runs on Windows 10. Widescreen support! Nice!

Besides the Atari Remakes and hopefully Colecovision Remakes..... Tron has to be what I'm most excited to play on Amico.

The Tron game on the GBA back in the day was great also. Gezzzz I'm on Tron overload tonight! LOL

Most home versions of Qbert were awkward because of the rotated controls.  Intellivision Qbert didn't have that problem.

Controls worked OK on stock Colecovision controllers back in the day. Hold it spun 45° to the right and your golden! The extremely short joystick kinda sucked. But we made the best of it. I'll tell ya what, that game is sometimes more fun to watch then play! LOL

Original... but I love Legacy as well.  That final battle scene on the bridge always brings tears to my eyes.

Ahh Tron:Legacy.. The only movie I've only seen twice in the same day in a theater. The midnight showing with my sister, then getting up for work at 6am. And then the 7pm showing with my son.

Even better the second time! Yes! so many emotions for me with Legacy. I watch it multiple times every year and the bridge scene gets me every time.

I have friends of all ages. I just got off the phone with two of my friends, it was a three way call. Both in their mid 30's.

I was telling them I was considering the Amico as my next console purchase.

    Wow! That was a mistake!

They said:  It's just old Atari games...what! it's $250!!...for re-rendered Bezerk!  just buy a Switch... or a Wii!

Then they asked about who the developers are for it... they we're underwhelmed when I showed them.

Then they asked if Waterworld was coming out for it jokingly? Said they'd wait for the Virtual Boy to make a comeback first!

It was brutal I tell ya. I told them to have open minds. And hold off on judgement till they play one.

They are both parents so I was hoping I'd win them over easily, that didn't happen.. I will report back when they

    finally play one...

This is weird , I'm quoting myself. But I had to.

Things changed BIG time over this past week.

They both understand and get what your trying to do Tommy!

They watched the venturebeat interview with you.

Check out this small portion of the text thread.

Sorry about the swear words. I thought he was messing with me! LOL

Oh and here's the Xbox game he's talking about:

Man, I gotta say the early 1980's were a really cool time with the various consoles like the 2600, Intellevision, and Odyssey 2 along with the great dedicated handhelds like those from Mattel Electronics.

Ahh the Microvision, part of the great early handhelds! I got mine from a trade with my neighbor. I traded my Talking Electronic Battleship for his Microvision. To this day I still feel like I made out the best. I loved Pinball on it.

Are they fairly hard core gamer parents? I see a number of online e-zines that cater to gamers are leaning towards the P&I side of things, going so far as suggesting families might be better off getting a Switch, Wii U or Wii. I understand kids love getting used, second hand items for Christmas presents.

Both Xbox guys, just like me. Both play mostly single player games. I don't know if you'd call them hardcore. Hardcore is so difficult to define nowadays. 😕

just shows their ignorance to the industry.  The whole reason Im here is because of the devs, including Tommy.  Its a who's who of industry greats if you actually, you know, know the history of gaming.

I think their just skeptical of anyone releasing something new in the same market as Nintendo,Sony and Microsoft. They grew up on Nintendo, hate Sony and own Xbox now. Don't worry, I've invited them over to play once I get an Amico.

Is the generational leap for consoles now so little it can cause a crash?  I started noticing this decline with the introduction of the current gaming systems.  I really couldn't see a big leap between the PS3/PS4  It seemed like nothing new was introduced that made it groundbreaking.

If you play something like Red Dead and then try Red Dead 2 you can see major improvements in lighting and animation. Both are excellent games, I'm a sucker for westerns.

    - Genesis/SNES is the era when video games matured. Graphics were finally on par with what was seen in the arcades. SNES introduced the four face buttons and shoulder buttons that would become standard in the years going forward.

I loved this era. I owned both for a bit. But I'll always be a Genesis guy. The extra speed of the Genny made it perfect for this arcade loving guy! Road Rash and Sonic!! Wish I still had Global Gladiators, I still have boxed copies of Cool Spot and Aladdin! 😁

    - N64/PS1 introduced 3D graphics, and games moved on from arcade style (high scores) to a more cinematic approach.

PS1 for the win! 3D graphics with amazing music! Wipeout and Destruction Derby all day! And one of the best versions of Road Rash.. So glad they converted it from the 3DO.

    - PS2/XBOX standardized the controller setup we now think of today. Dual analog sticks, D-pad, 4 shoulder buttons, 4 face buttons. It allowed for 3D worlds to be easily navigated and really popularized open worlds and First Person Shooters. It also made the console a multi-media box in that it wasn't just a console, it was also a DVD player.  That was huge.

Here's where I lost interest for a few years. I bought a PS2 but it was just prettier versions of the same PS1 games. I remember having dual analog sticks on PS1 playing Gran Turismo. Wait... That's right GTA3 launched on the PS2.. ok that's the one game i played for 6 months straight. Then I got burned out on Playstation. LOL

    - PS3/XBOX 360 was probably the biggest leap in my opinion.  It made online connectivity standard. PS3 had wireless internet built in. Hard drives became standard. Graphics leaped to high definition, and it really made for a big change in the way games look.  Thanks to the Wii, motion control gaming also became popular, which Sony quickly tried to copy.  Perhaps the biggest change though was the introduction of digital distribution of games. This opened the door to entirely new games and new genres that made no sense with the old model. Smaller games could be created and this led to the "indie" scene.

Totallly agree with this one! I had the hardest damn time picking a side! Xbox or play it safe with another Playstaion... Well my oldest son showed me Halo. That's the end, but really the beginning of a long story. LOL

    - PS4/XB1.... games got prettier, I guess?  Performance improved and graphics got better.  They tried to promote sharing but it wasn't anything revolutionary.  Online gaming became the standard more and more.

My current system is XB1. This is where I hang out.I don't watch much TV, I mostly play..

I'm old-school AND hardcore I guess.. Some night's I'll play a game on my cell phone or 3DS, some nights competitive Halo. The next night it might be a 2600 game. I love them all!

So this Holiday I think I'll skip the Xbox Series X hype. But faster load times and Ray tracing sound crazy cool. Maybe I just need something different! 😲
