Here's an interesting and peculiar post that was left on one of our Intellivision YouTube videos that I wanted to share with this group...

    417386876_Screenshot_2020-05-09Channelcomments-YouTubeStudio.thumb.png.2d18e795c58f63c44098e0607c84c5e8.png

Kinda odd right?  (I also don't even know what he was referring to in regards to other failed family video game ideas?  What video game systems focused on family and failed?)

I feel that maybe it's just a "generational" thing.  I'm assuming this person is much younger than us considering the vernacular used.

The initial expectation is to mock and hate something before it is seen.  I guess I just don't subscribe or try to understand that type of mentality.

I have friends of all ages. I just got off the phone with two of my friends, it was a three way call. Both in their mid 30's.

I was telling them I was considering the Amico as my next console purchase.

    Wow! That was a mistake!

They said:  It's just old Atari games...what! it's $250!!...for re-rendered Bezerk!  just buy a Switch... or a Wii!

Then they asked about who the developers are for it... they we're underwhelmed when I showed them.

Then they asked if Waterworld was coming out for it jokingly? Said they'd wait for the Virtual Boy to make a comeback first!

It was brutal I tell ya. I told them to have open minds. And hold off on judgement till they play one.

They are both parents so I was hoping I'd win them over easily, that didn't happen.. I will report back when they

    finally play one...

Considering the awesome group we have in here... I thought you might all enjoy THIS video that was recently uploaded!  Loving the Intellivision Football thumbnail!  And did anyone notice the FCK initials??  Hahahha!  I preferred ASS, but y'know... everyone's a little different.  :)

Actually...  my 3 High Score letters were really TAT (my initials).  What did everyone else use back in the day?  Did you stick with your own initials?

That was great! It covered a lot in such a short segment. Arcades,Home Video games and computers.

I'd love to have a coin-op in my house! I'd have Asteroids or Star Wars:TAG

I put my initials RRL or ZEP in back in the day.

Notice that STYX t-shirt at 2:25?

Tommy, congratulations for adding Andy Gavin, one of the founders of Naughty Dog and one of the co-creators of Crash Bandicoot, to your management team. Combining the existing talent with his unique vision, the Amico is unstoppable now.

Good thing he got the programmer and NOT the artist! 🤣

All kidding aside, I loved Rings of Power! I had no idea it was their first console game! And yes I did try the code in the late 90s.

And Crash was a system seller on the PS1 ! You needed Mario jumping skills on some of those levels I tell ya!

Because the industry was crashing and everyone was trying to get rid of inventory.

True. I remember moving on to computers about 82/83, an Atari 800XL. Didn't purchase another console cartridge after that until Genesis days. I did buy a few 8bit Atari computer carts, but nothing for my 2600 or Colecovision. I think a lot of America's youth moved onto PC's by the mid 80's. I feel like I didn't get a real non gaming computer till the 16bit pc's (Atari ST/Amiga) came out. That's when my creative freedom blossomed. Great times

Looking forward to that old school console charm and co-op fun again with Amico!

I started a O.L.S.H. class of '82 Facebook page awhile ago.  If you're on Facebook... you should join us!  Lots of old pics from back in the day.

I play asteroids through mame with an old four button game pad.  It works great.  With Amico, you have the disc for left/right rotate, touchscreen for fire, and the two shoulder buttons for thrust and hyperspace.  I'd put thrust on the touchscreen shoulder button, but I have a feeling they'll put it on the disc shoulder button.

I was messing around and came up with this setup:

Where (rotate ship) actually points the ships "nose" to whatever direction you press on the disc.

I'm excited to see what Tommy and friends come up with!

BTW  Tommy we better see you name on the High score lists!!!

To Tommy and those interested.  Some of us on Facebook have been discussing a mass unboxing at launch. Obviously its hard to pull that off when people will likely get theirs at different times.  But maybe we could come up with a collection of people that can send in their unboxing and then could be used for a future ad. Open for input.

I'm very late to the party. I still don't see a color combo I really like. That woodgrain vip one was super sweet, too bad I missed out on it. But those are long gone I'm sure.

I'd love to see one themed after some of the old Atari,Imagic,Intellivision,Activision games. I'm totally sold on the Amico, I'm just waiting for that special one for me.😉

I remember feeling like that when I got Yars Revenge as a kid for the 2600. "Wait what? Two levels and that's it!?"

I thought the same thing at first. Then the game mixes it up. It get faster and way harder and the barrier goes away. It's like a never ending boss battle. So ... darn I guess your right. Still love that game.😆

And I didn't know you worked on Deus Ex!  LOVED the first game!!!!!!

We did a whole story on it on Electric Playground.  Did I meet you when we were at the studios?  I believe in Texas about 20 years ago??  Ion correct?

Romero & Tom Hall are good buddies of mine from the 90's.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Deus Ex!  I was one of the three programmers on that project, and later also worked on the PS2 version.  The main Ion Storm Austin was in Dallas, and our office was (thankfully) in Austin, away from all the drama!  If you never came down to the Austin office, we probably never met.  I had a whole wall of Ultima maps and posters in my office, so that would have been marginally memorable.  John and Tom are great guys!

     ..Al

Ohh man now we're talking! I sold, lost, traded my original Deus Ex for PC many years ago. I've enjoyed the sequels so much. My favorite stealth game by far!

How about an Amigo version guys? 😁

Here's the O.L.S.H. graduation pic...  but I don't see you in it?

Yeah... my dad was huge into ancient coins and Egyptian antiquities (hence why you see my dining room the way it is in THIS video).  :)

He would donate a bunch of common 2,000 - 3,000 year old Egyptian coins to some of our class fundraisers (auctions, bake sales, etc.) so you probably got it at one of those.

    Very cool!!

Thanks so MUCH for posting this! It took me a couple minutes to find myself. See attached photo.

So many names I've forgotten over time. I can honestly remember about 10 peoples names.  But you sharing this was so awesome, I can't say this enough!

BTW I found the group photos I took back in the day a couple nights ago. So If you need me to resend them just let me know.

Such a cool dining room. I have the sudden urge to watch the movie Stargate. Great flick.

Now back to the topic at hand:

Was talking to the wife about the Amico just now. Here's what we love about it so far:

GREAT VALUE... 2 controllers and 6 games included!

Auto adjust for players of different skill levels. <<-- this is a massive selling point for us.

Every single game is couch co-op! WOW

    Price! All games under $10!

High score for place and time, I love this one!

I still don't understand what Rfid is. I'm off to research this now.

Me & my friend Aron are in the middle.  We were big Godfather fans so we thought it would be funny if we made gun signs with our hands (because it was a Catholic School).  Hilarious back then... probably get expelled these days!

Yes... I was the shortest back then too.  :)   Imagine that I started High School 3 months later!!!  In my freshman year everyone thought I was lost and in the wrong school.   Hahhahaa!

Within a few weeks I had the entire Varsity Football team protecting me and they would let me eat with them at their table at lunch.  A freshman at a seniors table?!?!  Unheard of!  :)

No on would dare pick on me.  I was the king shit!!   :D

Damn, I don't Facebook. Can you find me on that class picture? See picture's below.

I was in the same class as you from 4 thru 8.  I remember buying a "2,000" year old  egyptian coin from you in 5th grade!!! Maybe it wasn't a sale, maybe a silent action.

About 20 years ago I mailed a picture i took of the 3 of you on the steps of OLSH from back in the day. I thought I keep a copy! Damn I've been ripping the house apart trying to find it! David

is giving you "bunny ears" in it! And Aron C. is standing on the other side of you. I meet up with you very briefly at you Video Games Live @ Springfield,Ma about 4 years ago maybe.

Hopfully this rings some bells! If your every in the area please PM me here! I'd love to buy you a "Friendly's" treat!

    Amico Strategy and RTS games.

    Games similar to:

Command and Conquer and Sim City, or Pikmin.

    Any in the works?

    Ok Quick fun question.

During your gaming life what games were system sellers for you?   You know as soon as you saw or played it you had to have that system.

Like many of you I have had a ton of systems, but at various times I wasnt always the earliest adapter so sometimes it was a game that sold me the system.

    Three come to mind.

Smurfs Adventure made me have to have a Colecovision

Castlevania made me get a Nintendo literal right then. We stopped playing and we drove to a store and I bought the NES

Resident Evil made me get a Playstation

    x1080.jpg

I'm still 20+ pages back....I'll catch up soon.

    System sellers for me

Atari2600: Just having a game system at home was the selling point! LOL

Colecovision: Donkey Kong, great pack in game.My 1ST nest gen system.

SNES: Super Mario World!!! Still my absolute favorite Nintendo game.

    PS1: Wipeout & Destruction Durby

  16. Tommy remember the baseball card-flipping games we all played in the school yard at OLSH? How about if that gets made into an Amico Game?

It can have different game types. Like closest to the wall,farsies,matchie..etc. And you can learn to crease/fold the cards so they flip and spin in odd directions.

Perfect for the Amico controllers! Maybe having just baseball cards will limit its appeal. How about cards based on Amico games? Game can be played on a 3/4 isometric view maybe.

I think this is something special!

    What do ya think?
