So many trying to get nasty because they dared to charge $60 for 3 games with some light touch ups/filters applied demanding that it should be like $30 or $40 as a budget release. So called angry because they feel they are being taken advantage of.
...well that's kinda what I'm thinking, I'm just not inclined to stick my head out the window and yell about it (although it is much better than Wii SMAS). I think it's unfortunate that Nintendo classics will never get the Sega Ages treatment (or the Super Mario Bros. Deluxe treatment). Fans are doing some interesting things with the Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time code, adding in multiplayer and such. Well, it's good that the games will be reaching a new audience, anyhow.

My biggest games are Sword of the Guardian and Fantasy Strike, both about 8 gigs. Haven't tried FS because I don't even have space to install it, but SotG is a modest beat-em-up created by one person and it makes no sense for it to be that big, and it doesn't seem like FS should be either. Must be poor choice of file format on the dev's part, or something.

Same. If anybody missed it but is interested, there is a second "launch" in another day I think.
It may well end up on the eshop long before SLG ships... probably best to put it out of my mind for now. The priciest Japanese edition came with Space Invaders dinner plates of all things, sadly no such option for the west.

I have to agree... who was asking for not one but two Puyo Puyo ports for a platform that already has a Puyo Puyo game? (hold your fire, PP fans...) I'll second everyone who mentioned Revenge of Death Adder and throw in a vote for Shadow Dancer. On top of that, there were a bunch of games from the 3DS series that never made it outside of Japan (including Alien Syndrome and Alien Storm). If they've already done the backwards-engineering work for them and the games sell better in the west anyway, why not bring them to Switch already? I really hope we haven't heard the last of this series.

It's on sale for 19.99 now.

Sale's on so I finally picked up a couple of these (Double Dragon and Metal Slug, old faves). The standard features are really nice, about as good as you could hope for a one-size-fits-all set of features for a series of arcade games.
...except for the save system. You get one save state slot and apparently it deletes itself when you game over? I want to pick the brain of the madman that came up with this. A lot of arcade games are unapproachable without save states to work out the trouble spots (unless you just credit feed), this is enough to make me pass on some games I was on the fence about. Frustrating.

Fighter's History exemplifies everything wrong with their releases; the button mapping is atrocious and the difficulty is set to wipe the floor with you. Their release of Bad Dudes doesn't even let you do the power punch, which is a pretty large game breaking glitch.
Switch OS now supports a universal button mapping, with five slots you can save/reload configs from. It's not extremely convenient but it made Night Slashers playable for me. Wouldn't touch any more Johnny Turbo crap, but it's something.

Again, there is at least one homebrew developer releasing emulated titles on the Switch...
Besides Creepy Brawlers there's also Haunted Halloween '86, but I think that is a port rather than emulated. Other homebrew ports: Gunlord, Xeno Crisis, probably others. I don't know how big the market is, but I'm in it.

True. I got mine a week or two before coronapocalypse hit, I had to check around online a bit for a brick and mortar store. Now even Amazon doesn't seem to have any.

An incredible selection... and yet still no Nightmare in the Dark

For the most part it's a wash, but I'm very fond of the Pain Elemental redesign.

It isn't anything like a Wii FPS. The motion controls barely move your dude. Seems like it could be useful for precise aiming when used in conjunction with moving normally with the stick. I still turned it off.

Hear, hear. I'd drop full retail priced just for Robotron, if they'd only give it to me. Another Mortal Kombat collection is on its way, if that's anything to you.

Five lengthy developer intro animations to start the game... then they want me to make a Bethesda account... and then 30 seconds after starting in earnest: "Achievement Unlocked! You discovered a secret!" 🤪
Thankfully it looks and plays great, much better than messing with an N64 controller. I need to detox after that exposure to modern gaming, though.

iirc the original defaulted to the lowest brightness setting by mistake and it was ok if you went in and fixed it (every time you played...). But yeah, I'm sure they've got it covered.

Well I regrettably picked up Night Slashers on sale can at least confirm that the "Johnny Turbo's Arcade" line is basically trash, with no access to dip switches, no choice of region, and the combination of 1) no button config and 2) an imo terrible button layout (B-jump, A-attack, Y-special). They don't even get the easy, low-effort stuff right, let alone put any extra effort into it. So everything I've come to expect from a Data East re-release, I guess... shame on me for giving them even another two bucks.
Now M2's Sega Ages stuff: that's everything you could ask for, plus a couple of things I'd have never thought of.

Coming to Japan in three different editions pretty soon: https://spaceinvaders.jp/SIIC/titles.html
If you need some Space Invaders dinner plates, perhaps dropping a wad of cash on the Super-duper limited edition will be a good financial decision for you.
Some great games in there, there certainly could be many more. Taito keeps putting out new collections of Darius with ever-more games, so perhaps this won't be the last we hear about Space Invaders on Switch. No word of a western release date afaik, but the Switch is region-free.

Doom 64 drops in a couple of days... my favorite Doom game. Will have some added content as well.

The reason it doesn't support that is because afaik Nintendo doesn't support it... you're just not supposed to hold your controller like that, it's not built for it and I doubt any other game supports it. I have a flip grip and while I haven't tried it with this game, it is a nice piece of equipment. Strange that it's 3rd party and Nintendo hasn't made their own.

Have to admit I didn't notice. Compared to the Psikyo collection, it feels responsive... Ms Pac-man on Steam actually regularly drops inputs, dunno how they mess something like that up.

It's a minor problem but I really like that thing, the trouble with the Namco cab is much more severe

There's an ergonomic issue caused by the side walls of the cab reaching so far forward that it obstructs the player's hands from reaching the controls. I find the d-pad easier to use if the joystick is removed, but it's difficult to reach from the side with the thumb. This wasn't an issue with the Data East mini.
Rolling Thunder 3 has another super-goofy button layout... from left to right: jump, shoot, special attack. Doesn't match the other two RT games.

My Arcade NAMCO MUSEUM Mini Player - 10 Inch Mini Arcade Machine Cabinet - 20 Retro Games Included - PAC-MAN, GALAGA, and More - Licensed Collectible
I just tried mine out for the first time, for a couple of games. For possibly the first time for MyArcade, they put the shoot/attack button to the left of the jump button (the usual arrangement), except for Splatterhouse 2, which thankfully is a Genesis game with a button config screen so it's fixable. Thankfully stretch mode is optional on all games. Some emulation problems... Splatterhouse had slightly glitchy music, and Splatterhouse 2 has absolutely terrible emulation, maybe the worst I've seen in a commercially released product... constant audio and graphical glitches and flickering, not for a second does it look or sound right. Disappointing. The Data East MyArcade collection wasn't perfect but the games at least worked. Pac-man seemed to work fine, I think Rolling Thunder 2 (arcade version) might be a little off but I'd have to directly compare to MAME to be sure.
Best thing about it is the physical unit itself, although some of the "artwork" is just screenshots from the games... Replicade for example is releasing products with more polish. The Numskull cabs look quite solid but they are of course pricier.

Apparently there is a new Kiki Kaikai game in development for the Switch

Yeah, they said a while back that they were doing a third one, it pretty much had to be this. Ninja Warriors remake is the reason I got a Switch and I was not disappointed, it's the textbook example of how to do a "retro remake". Have heard nothing but praise for the WG remake too. I bet this will deliver similarly.
