  1. Keep this address handy. This is a great site for finding old manuals, disks, etc, and is always being updated. https://commodore.bombjack.org/commodore/index.htm There's the main address.
  2. Back when I entered that url I tested it, and it worked. Now I get that darned 404 error too. I don't know what happened. Sorry.
  3. I think you have to open the computer and visually inspect the board. The boards should be #250469 for the short board, and # 250466 for the older style.
  4. Is your C-64C a short board version? I was going the get this cartridge, but even my C-64C is an older version (longboard in other words, like a breadbin).
  5. Corrosion can cause more trouble than people think. I live by the Chesapeake Bay, which can very humid in the summer, causing all sorts of problems with corrosion. If you can see any hint of corrosion, clean it up before you do anything else! Corrosion can not only cause problems with your display, it can cause problems at any port on your computer, from the Cartridge port to the User port and any and all in between. It can even cause problem with switches....
  6. In the U.S. if you have an ACE hardware store in town, (or any good hardware store) and know the screw size, they are easy to get.
  7. I have one, and I don't like it. My C-64C is easier to use, and can do more. I can't say I never use it, but it doesn't see much use here. The Mini's main use, is at parties when I don't want the drunks pounding on my real hardware.
  8. I replied to your post on Lemon64, but I guess you never checked back? There is a word processor for the C-128 that has a feature so custom macros can be inserted anywhere you want/need. It's called The Write Stuff 128 (BB Writer). It doesn't use fonts the way GEOS does, but is good at controlling the printer. All in all a good program.
  9. An old ribbon may well be rather light. They will dry out. The Star were OK printers with the exception of the "C" variety. You can revive it with WD-40, but your print out will stink like WD-40. have new ribbons jumped that much in price? Just asking......
  10. That's what I was looking for, but could not remember the proper name. Many thanks. @ Geister - this is the one you want - forget my post.
  11. It depends on where you're located. The North American Commodore PSU is not safe to use, period. I have seen more than a few "purists" try the rebuild, but it usually costs them several RAM chips, maybe the PLA, and a few assorted other parts, and then a new power supply. It's far less expensive to either build a new power supply, or buy one. The North American Epoxy filled PSU just is not safe to use! The European PSUs were build a little better, and at least can be rebuilt. There is a fellow in Washington State (I think) who also makes great power supplies. He may be scaling back though.....
  12. I used to use Font Master II, from Xetec (they also made great printer interfaces). Even programs like Speed Script, Super Script, and Word Writer were good. Word Writer's 128 programs were quite good. There are several down load sites for Font Master II. Try it, you might like it.
  13. I think this is the latest version of Simon's Basic; https://commodore.software/downloads/download/10-basic-extensions/958-simon-s-basic-v3-1 Hope this helps.....
  14. It's a lot of work but, why not go for chrome plating - if you're going to nickel plate it anyway.....?
  15. It would help to know where you're located - since shipping can be such a deal killer these days.....
  16. I live just south of Baltimore, Maryland - which is a fair drive. Plus, of the six or so C-64s,, None have sockets (yet). Were you are used to be full of C-64 users - there must be a few left......
  17. I am glad the cable was mentioned. There are cables out there that look like they should work on the C-64, but are not wired correctly - so do indeed check that cable.
  18. That photo is very close to what I had. Thank you for this help.
  19. Thanks for the info. The cartridge I had (I just traded it) has 16Kb of RAM. Somewhere I found a file said it needed a 9VAC PSU - but that file had no photos at all, and I can't find it again. My cartridge is different from any I can find a photo of. I had a perfect box, but no manual, and only the info printed on the box. The cartridge looks like the photo evg2000 posted, but the PC boards is very different. Again, many thinks for the help guys.
  20. I knew these were rare, but, I didn't realize they were this rare. This device will, according to the box, offer 40 columns with a TV, and 80 columns with a monitor. If I could figure out how to power it......
  21. Does any one here have any files on the Data 20 16Kb Video Enhancer for the VIC 20? Specially about the cartridges PSU. This one is supposed to be 9VAC, but does not have a DIN plug - just three traces from the circuit board. Help.
  22. Is this at all related to the older SAM (Software Automatic Mouth) from back in 1982? I think it was also added to BB Writer, The Write Stuff.
  23. OLD SC1 is right on the money. I have both C-64C versions. They are both better to type on than the older Breadin style, however. What ever model you find, make sure you get a new power supply.
