    Zonik Lynx

New screenshots & stuff... As you can see, most of zonk's moves are back You use option 2 to call a partner, it costs 50 rings But I'm such a lazy artist, and MS-Paint is starting to burn my eyes so haven't done the art for the fusion sequece yet. Banner thingies- [/img]

    Zonik Lynx

I bought it dead for 50 USD, then resurected it =P How else? After Zonik, I'm gonna work on some enhanced GB and GG ports so I dont know about more turbo ports, then off to Tails Alliance.

    Zonik Lynx

There wont be as many fusion possiblities and abilities as in Air Zonk, but it'll still have the same basic gameplay (set on spicy mode for comparison to AZ) but, meh tis a good excuse to play my lynx rather than the TurboExpress I resurrected.
  4. Definately pick up Chips challenge, common, cheap, and mad fun. It'll keep you occupied for hours (better pick up some good NiMh batteries too)

    Zonik Lynx

I used the C-fighter demo for reference, started on the lynx programming for dummies by sage, a list of 65C02 instructions, and lots of questions posted on this board! Apparently it is, seeing that it is running on my lynx here-
  6. nope, the screens are both the same size. Thats odd, on my Lynx II there are two distinct mikey and suzy chips, I've never seen them combined. And if you were speaking in actual processor numbers, that would cause immense incompatibilities, no?

    Zonik Lynx

This topic will be devoted to my upcoming lynx release, Zonik, and will provide screenshots, info, and soon, downloadable demos. Here are the three screenshots you've all seen, plus one thats only in the new build-
  8. Also If some of the pins on your game carts start to "peel up" from roughly inserting them, cover the bottom of the connector with just enough tape so it will stay down, but not enough to block transmission. I've had that problems numerous times with California Games.
  9. The lynx version of lemmings doesn't compare to well to some other ports (aside from the gameboy =P ) It was very weak compared to the GameGear one, and for some reason suffered from an incredibly low framerate. But all of the fun with lemming-death is still there =P
  10. hmm, something might have blown on the motherboard. Since most other devices in the lynx (IE display, speaker, controls, etc.) survive shocks like this, your best bet would be to try and find a lynx with a dead screen or other simple problem, but has a working motherboard, then do a quick transplant (its not that hard).
  11. Have you tried it with both batteries and an AC adaptor?
  12. Zarlor Mercincary may have preety scenery, but it chugs along at a low framerate. I have yet to try the lynx version of raiden, although that was released after the lynx's "commercail life" and I did not include it for a reason. Also, I find there are considerable more sprites flying around in most turbografx shooters (and it has an 8-bit CPU and a 16-bit graphics processor, just as the lynx does, but a 64 sprite limit!). As I said before, look up AIR ZONK and try it out if you can.
  13. Unfortunately... Good luck playing it outside on a bright sunny day. The screen gets such a horrible glare, I only enjoy playing my Lynx at night. Well, Lynxes are nocturnal, after all. Its only natural *shot*
  14. Just remember to be careful around the ribbon cables, many-a-lynxes have been killed that way...
  15. Thanks for the complement, just got a good control sceme working today =P as for progamming for the lynx, I'd go with the BLL kit, quick, easy & pc compatible (I have an amiga, but not the orginal dev kit, so I have no idea what thats like). As for it being comlynxable... I'm very unsure if this would work well for the type of game it is... Search for Air Zonk if you want to know why =P Edit- A little background information- I remember reading somewhere that the lynx was designed for high speed shoot em-ups. Well, apparently it wasn't, since the shooters released during the lynx's commercial life were incredibly dull and ran at about 30 fps, preety sad for such good hardware... ANNEEWAYYY, I've loved sonic for my entire life, I used to design levels with my friends and even make up stories with the characters. The speed always sucked me in, while mario just chugged along at his own pace. Meanwhile on the other side of the whatever, I discovered Air Zonk, a technologial wonder, and played it to death on my TG-16. I immediately loved it, the speed was incredible! I had planned out a few good games using sonic characters, the best of which being tails alliance, which shall be top-secret for now =P . But one problem, they were too damn hard to program. I had no Idea how to do anything, even gravity. So I went back and loked at air zonk, and thought... I might be able to do that.. But what to program it FOR?! Hmm... the old 89' gameboy.... (this was actually considered to be that target platform for Tails Alliance for almost a year and a half) I have so many friggin documants on it... or how about the game gear... But then I realised, SPRITES!!! there's NOT ENOUGH SPRITES!!! The GameBoy and GameGear, although good systems would NEVER be able to display enough sprites to handle such a game... Then I eyed my lynx that came in the mail a few days earlier... That has unlimited sprites... And the rest is blah
  16. Well, here we go, And some actual gameplay pics so far, preety limited, but it'll get better- All art/coloring done in 100% MS-Paint =P This is my first actual attempt at programming a game (all in ASM ^_^) so things may take awhile since I'm learning as I go...
  17. Its not a clone per say, but more of a combination. Some of you who had TG-16s might recognise those sunglasses
  18. Ooops, typo, thanks for that =P It might be possible though, with alot of tape
  19. A funny thing happened today (well, over the past few months actually) My lynx II's internal speaker was putting out distorted tones when at high volumes, and the problem got worse and worse, untill today, even on minimal volume, the lynx's speaker would sound like a piezo transducer on crack (although the sound through the headphone port was crystal clear). I decided to "trade" speakers with one of the dead lynx IIs I purchased, and now the lynx's sound is sharper than I ever remember it being since I bought it. Anyone else ever have this problem before?
  20. Then your demo reach the hardware adresses of teh memory. Putting the screen memory at that position saves a lot of memory. Tschau, Sage How would I move the screen buffers and collision buffers right before that point? Note- I have two screen buffers and one collision buffer.
  21. Hmm, apparently the data I was trying to load was overwriting the code in ram, you were right... now to just figure out how to get such a huge file loaded not to do so . And also, the TExpress to lynx connection was a multiplayer idea, not a dev station *shot* Also, Is there any way to have lynxer create 512k images, because I have no idea how to use lynxer4.ttp. thanks.
  22. Hmm, I got the assembler to let the programs go through, and stuck them together with lynxer, but now handy is giving me illegal opcode errors, and I think I have to clear the ram before loading, but I dont know how to do so properly, if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it, here is a link to the demo and source code- http://www.webpost.net/tc/tcPicgallery/Zonik.rar
  23. Alright, the cart fits together alright (thanks karri), but I still cant get one program to load the other, whenever I try to use the LOADPRG command from the file.mac like this- LOADPRG 2 or LOADPRG LTOXY (ltoxy is the name of the seccond program) I get an undefined variable error message when assembling the pieces of my game (each .o file) so what is the proper way to use the command? (If you tell me, i'll shut up and leave you all alone ) and, thanks, [email protected]@m for the compliment.
  24. also, here is a link to the current build if anyone cares to debug- http://www.webpost.net/tc/tcPicgallery/ZONIK.rar
