  1. Dosbox is an x86 emulator like Pcem, except Dosbox includes enough software to run most dos application programs. If you want a proper dos or windows operating system you can install it on Dosbox just like Pcem. But like Zzip says, Pcem is better suited for that. With virtualisation you are basically installing the os on your existing hardware, so your computer has to support whatever operating system you hope to install in vmware.
  2. I expect quality control testing to be part of the manufacturing process. Embedded software (os/ui/firmware and packin games) has to be 100% tested and ready before manufacturing. If one or two packin games aren't ready for manufacturing, they should be held off as free downloads rather than risk shipping something broken. Minor bug fixes can be pushed out anytime. The online store has to be 100% tested and ready in April, I don't see why it wouldn't. Atari admitted to implementing last minute os changes without testing. The problem with the Atari controllers and online store is ridiculous. Amico controllers are bluetooth only so they can't have that problem.
  3. You had windows 3.x running under vmware? There are preinstalled windows 98 downloads for Pcem; couldn't find one for windows 3.x.
  4. Slap Shot hockey 31-5=26 vs amateur computer Intellivision hardware I scored one goal through the back of the net that I'm not counting. I got this cartridge in the 1990s and was pretty disappointed. Half the time he doesn't shoot in the direction you're aiming. I'd rather play NHL Hockey against nobody. It would probably be a closer game.
  5. It's really simple; seals eat penguins. Penguins have no chance on the surface but have half a chance to survive in the water. Duncan is risking his life to save his clueless friends. Not sure what the bears are doing in the antarctic, they look a little lost.
  6. Is arcade1up coming out with a home console collection? Technically, all atari 5200 trakball games are analog joystick games. The atari 5200 trakball emulates an analog joystick and doesn't output true trackball signals from its connector.
  7. They mentioned ccs64, if that's not available on modern linux than they're using windows. Linux is unlikely for other reasons. If it was a problem with a runtime library, I don't think they would get a vice application window. The system rom files are included in the vice source archive as well as the windows and mac archives on the official download site. They are also included with the retropie vice package. If files are missing after a linux install they can be copied from any of these downloads but I wonder why they're not in the linux repository.
  8. That's a lot of goals! The cartridge never shipped with overlays.
  9. All the the sports network cartridges are really good. But intellivision nhl hockey plays more like timbits hockey than nhl.
  10. Either the number of games available at launch would have to increase or the number of retro titles said to be available at launch would have to decrease. It's okay if it's heavy on retro titles to start. That can change going forward and there's no reason everyone can't enjoy these games.
  11. Lode Runner and Burgertime were announced back in 2018. Looking for something more for their target market. Something from Disney for the kids has been mentioned, we'll see if that comes through. The Amico library is currently overweighted with retro game titles.

  13. You mean August. Things must have changed between may and august.
  14. The title comes from the name of the developer, Sensible Software. They were aquired by Codemasters who used the name Sensible World of Soccer in a 2007 release and it's still available on Xbox marketplace.

  16. Amico is a closed system. The only way to get unauthorized games on it is if it's hacked/cracked. Having said that pretty much all Amico games are programmed by independent developers. A smaller, manageable game library with quality control will be one of the selling points of amico.
  17. Argon emulates the atari lynx pretty well; you don't even have to provide the system rom. The Intellivision emulation works but has a few bugs and quirks as most of the commercial games are filtered out. No option to select left/right controller. Looks promising.
  18. Intellivision NHL Hockey was lacking; it was one of the weaker cartridges in the sports network. But it wasn't because of a lack of features. I had Gamestar/Mindspan Faceoff (msdos/c64). It had coaching features for defining set plays and lineups that I never used. I just played the game.
  19. That's how I started on the internet in 1994 with my 386sx. My internet service provider was text only; Pine for email.
  20. I thought Android devices support game controllers; bluetooth or usb.
  21. Southern Ontario in the early 1980s, the high school computer lab had commodore PET. Several computers shared dual floppy disk drive units and dot matrix printers. Around 1985 they were replaced with Icon computers running qnx. Wikipedia describes these as thin client computers but I'm pretty sure software was running on local cpu and ram. These were nice computers with built in trackballs and speech synthesis. Three of them had colour monitors. There was a central server at the teacher's desk with a hard disk, I assume. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICON_(microcomputer)
  22. This issue was reported in jan 2013. https://github.com/Jaskier/Atari800Win-PLus/issues/5 The emulator hasn't been updated since jan 2012.
  23. An Apple Arcade exclusive. It's 3D but the controls are suppose to be simple; inspired by Sensible Soccer. I hope Amico Soccer uses a horizontal orientation.
