Stupid Things You Hear Collectors Say
mr_me replied to MotoRacer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Any negative comment about the Intellivision disc control. The disc is one of the best things about the Intellivision. I understand people don't like to change but its a great design especially for that time. Every controller now uses thumb control as did the Intellivision. -
Should have specified Double Dragon II, and to be honest I never played the arcade original.
-
Controller settings for EmulationStation and Stella are independent of eachother. So setting up the game controller for EmulationStation is optional.
-
The IBM PC version is better than the arcade. And it had two player simultaneous play.
-
Maybe change the thread title so it indicates you're selling games. Some buyers might not know.

I thought everyone said to get a used PC (sorry I couldn't help myself) I saw the post about the printer cable in the main forum and there wasn't much there. And more people read that forum than the programming forum. In the sketch on the printer side it looks like a stereo 3.5mm plug and a mono 2.5mm plug (that 3.5mm plug could be just mono). The FAQ said a regular stereo audio cable works so I would try that first. If that fails you can try making a cable; it only uses three wires so through trial and error you should eventually get it. This would be my first guess. 3.5mm tip -> 3.5mm tip 3.5mm sleeve -> 3.5mm sleeve 3.5mm inner ring -> 2.5mm tip Maybe there's another discussion group that the Aquarius collectors use more frequently. You can try emailing the contacts in the FAQ.

Any original 125 games break if ECS is connected?
mr_me replied to Tarzilla's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Here's an example of a cfg patch/hack. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/231069-rom-variants-auto-racing-etc/?p=3323244 It might be specific to jzintv; i think its inserting new code in the program. I dont know if other emulators or flashcarts support it. Edit: Bin2rom supports it. -
Cool video about Intellivision kiosk

1978? Likely more like 1982 based on the games displayed. He has to get rid of those joysticks. Edit: Possibly 1980, I've seen pictures with an older set of games. -
Imagine if all those resources were redirected to things like healthcare, relieving poverty, or environmental problems. Sports does serve one purpose, it diverts our attention while some can profit from those problems. And sport is real while star trek is fantasy.

Mine came in a clear, perforated, plastic slip cover with a bit of scotch tape. European ones are likely different; looks like you can open the box without breaking it, unlike north american boxes. Edit: The instructions look photocopied. I guess they didnt have scart in Belgium.

If you're using it with a television in a living room you might prefer an interface like what comes with Retropi rather than Stella alone.

A cfg patch would be better. I think the LTO Flash might do this automatically. -
the exec is on two chips, the board may or may not be labeled but the chips are http://console5.com/wiki/Intellivision U3: RO-3-9504 U9: RO-3-9502

Any original 125 games break if ECS is connected?
mr_me replied to Tarzilla's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Its not one of the original games but Sean39 in another topic posted that Ms. PacMan has problems with the ECS. ------------------------------ Sean39, on 15 May 2016 - 02:37 AM, said: Hi Everyone My daughter wanted Ms. PacMan for the intellivision. The Version written by Carl Muller JR works fine if you take the ECS out . If you place the ECS in line with the intellivision Ms Pacman herself messes up and does not show her correctly. This is one cartridge that will not work if the ECS is used. She turns into a messup looking red square with a yellow blotch following the red square. That what the character Ms Pacman looks like if the ECS is used, If you leave it out Ms. Pacman comes up looking like she should. So What is happening? I thought when you choose Cartridge on the ECS Menu that it was a straight pass through for the cartridge, but I am guessing it is not since this cartridge messes up with the ECS. This is the first one I have ran into that messes up with the ECS. Thanks Sean -
Sears,Tandy, Sylvania, and Mattel Intellivision 1 controller parts should all be interchangeable. The flashback controller plastic circuit and cable connector inside the controller is different.
-
It might be tough finding a working sears controller but swapping parts like the disc or cable from a broken Intellivision 1 is possible . You can even replace the cable with a genesis extension cable. I dont know if flashback controller parts fit.

Carl's D2K has some screens that were designed by Jeff. Jeff's D2K has five different screens (not four) compared with the original DK. -

There is an Intellivision link on Jeff's website, but its broken. D2K Special Edition has two game variations, one follows Jeff's design and the other is Carl's design both are programmed by Carl. Regarding Japanese vs NA DK. I wouldn't say one is better than the other. I think novice players, like myself, might prefer the Japanese version. Expert players might prefer the NA version as it gets you to harder levels quicker. -

Elecronite's DK Arcade has both NA and Japanese variations. If you have that and the new D2K Special Edition than you have all the variations in two cartridges. Edit: And its not just the order of the screens. Japanese DK lets you play elevators and pie factory at level one. In the NA version you have to play them at level two and three respectively. Those screens are easier at level one. -

Foundry is on D2K SE, according to GFYI screenshots, that would be one of the two new screens. You're right we should wait for official information before assuming what the second new screen is and what the names are. I thought your post #162 was blank at first, but it doesn't have an edit stamp. How did you do that? edit: also keep in mind that D2K Arcade has two game variations (DK Arcade and Carl's D2K Arcade). Since the DK Arcade variation is not part of D2K SE that would mean that the original "elevators" screen is not there but that "twisted girders" and "the eliminator" are. -

My apologies. Post #1 says "They are the same screens as the unofficial arcade game". I thought that meant Jeff Kulczycki's version, but I could be wrong. DK Arcade: barrels > rivets >> elevators >> pie factory DK Arcade Japanese mode: barrels > pie factory > elevators > rivets -

Carl's D2K: twisted girders > mixer > barrels > refinery > triple elevators > rivets >> eliminator Jeff's D2K: foundry > barrels > refinery > pie factory > incinerator > triple elevators > mixer > rivets edit: I can see why Carl might have left out the foundry in his first version. It's a pita to play in Jeff's version. -

Black_Tiger, on 08 May 2016 - 4:45 PM, said: From what understand, the arcade hack of Jumpman Returns has 8 different stages and D2K Arcade already had 9 different stages. Does the Jumpman Returns mode of D2K SE features 11 different stages, or is it limited to 8 different stages, in order to be more authentic to the arcade hack? Carl's D2K Arcade (first version) has two games for a total of nine unique screens but how many screens does only the D2K variation have? Does it have the original elevator screen or the pie factory screen? So when the original DK arcade gets replaced with a second D2K variation in D2K SE it likely loses one of the original screens; probably the original elevators screen just like Jeff Kulczycki's D2K rom hack (note Jeff replaces the original elevator screen with triple elevators but doesn't list that on his web site). So I expect D2K SE has the eight screens of Jeff's D2K plus the two different screens in Carl's first D2K version (twisted girders and the eliminator) for a total of 10 different screens between two game variations. We haven't seen a screenshot or a description of Jeff's the Incinerator screen in D2K SE but I expect it to be there.
