  1. There is some details about the aquarius printer interface here ( http://archive.kontek.net/aqemu.classicgaming.gamespy.com/aqfaq2.htm). If the ECS printer interface is the same than you should be able to use other serial printers with a custom cable and even parallel printers with a serial/parallel converter. According to that faq the Aquarius sends a line feed (but the ECS does not)? Either way many printers have an auto line feed on/off setting. from the faq: "The Aquarius uses a 1200 baud rate, 8 data bits, 2 stop bits, and no parity. It sends a line feed, so to avoid double-spacing set your printer for no line feed (sometimes called "carriage return only", "CR", "new line invalid", "line feed inhibit", and so forth). If your printer allows protocol selection, set it for Busy/Ready instead of X-on/X-off." also from the faq (not sure what the third set of pins are): MINI-STEREO PLUG - DB-25 - DB-9 - ?? - FUNCTION Tip/Center of Plug - Pin 3 - Pin 2 - Pin 4 - Data to Printer ( RxD on printer; TxD on ECS) Middle of Plug - Pin 20 - Pin 4 - Pin 2 - Printer Busy/Ready (DTR on printer; DSR on ECS) Base/Outside - Pin 7 - Pin 5 - Pin 3 - Signal Ground
  2. I'll also say that if Electronytes DK Arcade has Japanese mode and Intelligentvision DK Arcade does not than they should be thought of as different games and not a rom variation. Japanese mode lets you play all the screens at lower levels; its a different game.
  3. The first screenshot above is called "the Foundry" in Jeff Kulczycki's D2K version ( http://www.jeffsromhack.com/products/d2k.htm). The other screen that wasn't in Carl's D2K Arcade is Jeff's "the Incinerator". That could be the second new screen in D2K SE but I haven't seen a screenshot or description of the Intellivision version.
  4. Post #1 says us$119 plus shipping and handling Edit: Do you guys take visa/mastercard?
  5. In my universe, its the Atari 2600. For over thirthy years I thought the programmers were severely limited by the hardware resulting in primitive games. My memories from 1980 were of an uncomfortable joystick that gave me blisters and blocky simplistic games. Some of that might be due to negative advertising from its competitor. Recently I realised that some programmers were able to do incredible things (eg. Phoenix), and its pong like games with rotary controls are also underrated.
  6. I don't think Thunder/Mystic Castle needs an actual ending. Just like Space Spartans, where I stop when I defeat the aliens. I can always restart the game at a higher level anytime I want (not saving any quarters here). I think adding more difficulty levels to Thunder/Mystic Castle and being able to start the game at different levels like you've done is great.
  7. The original Brickout (rom on Intellivision Lives cd) has one controller as left/right; but the other controller is different. I thought maybe the programmer was trying out the disc as a spinner control. It doesn't quite work with my usb adapter and I don't have a flash cart to test on real hardware.
  8. Turbo uses the disc this way. The animation is choppy; is it because of poor programming or the 16 point precision of the disc. I wish there was a better example. edit: see posts 40 and 66 for other control ideas http://atariage.com/forums/topic/250999-intellivision-revolution-official-thread-for-ultimate-pong/?p=3484278
  9. Three mazes is enough for me. I like games where you either win or lose. Some of the programmers at Mattel debated on wether games should have endings. Too bad so few games were done that way. edit: Don't the red dragons/wizards/devils move faster than the knight right from the beginning.
  10. If there is any game that needs fixing its Tron Maze-a-tron. Not sure why people say Thunder Castle is too difficult; with the grail you can kill anything, the crown helps too. I've gotten through the three mazes and I don't even play that much. Once I get through the third maze I feel I've won. Not saying intvdave's hack isn't more fun.
  11. If I understand this correctly, D2KSE is a faithfull conversion of Jeff Kulczycki DK rom hack "D2K Jumpman Returns" (playable on mame). When I first heard of Carl's D2K (first version), I thought it would be Jeff's version. I was a little surprised to see that some of Jeff's screens were replaced with some original different screens by Carl. I guess Carl saw ways to improve on Jeff's version of an already improved DK; or maybe it was because of Intellivision's limitations. I wonder which version people prefer Carl's D2K or Jeff's D2K(D2KSE)?
  12. The great thing about the LTO Flash is that it will make it so you don't have to manufacture and ship cartridges and boxes in the future; unless you want to.
  13. Maybe its already been said, but I think many people will be happy with a downloadable PDF manual and generic box. Will that be an option?
  14. In the CAD world most people used digitizer tablet menu interfaces back in the 1980s. When they transitioned to Windows in the 1990s most also switched to mouse input. Experienced users agreed that keyboard input is faster than mouse input but the fastest input was the digitiser tablet menu. We also tried to introduce touch screen input for field applications in the 1990s but it didnt work out too well back then. Not sure if it was the hardware, the software or both. Its different now. Edit: for those that havent seen one the digitiser menu was a plastic sheet of commands that sat on a digitiser; alot like an intellivision overlay
  15. Microsoft just dropped my free OneDrive storage from 15GB to 5GB. Google Drive is still at 15GB. It may not matter now but you might want do more with it in the future. And they're not all that expensive it you want to pay for more storage. For backups they both work the same way, there is a designated directory on your local drive that their utility syncs with. You can store your data directly there for automatic backups. I rather keep my data separate, I have another utility that backsup my data to the "designated directory". You can also just copy files directly to their website and not install their utility at all. Not sure how dropbox works. When working with large amounts of data you can consider discs for archiving, and cloud storage for active projects.
  16. I know you have OpenEmu working, but if you want to troubleshoot jzIntv, first check that the program works without any front-end/gui. Open a terminal window in the directory of the jzintv program (eg.jzintv/bin). Put exec.bin, grom.bin, and one game file like baseball.bin in the jzintv/roms directory. Run the command "jzintv baseball" (without the quotes). jzIntv, by default, sets up the first two controllers it finds for direction and three side buttons. If that works then you can try a front-end/gui. I read that you can create a Mac "Automator" service to send any files from Finder to any program using a bash script. Try "path/to/jzintv -z3 -f1 -v1 $1" (without the outer quotes) for a jzintv script.
  17. I don't have a raphnet adapter nor a Mac but here are some ideas. The SDL libraries might not be included with the jzIntv Mac version download. It can be found here https://www.libsdl.org/download-1.2.php(I think jzIntv uses the SDL v1.2 rather than v2.0). Does the Mac "open with" not let you browse to the jzintv executable file? Do you have to set executable attribute on the jzintv file for Macs? Of course if the controller/adapter is not working it will be a problem with any emulator. Try a joystick tester app to see if the controller/adapter is the problem. Here's one http://alphaomega.software.free.fr/joystickandgamepadtester/Joystick%20And%20Gamepad%20Tester.html. Any chance that the adapter is connected to the Intellivision controller backwards?
  18. My Canadian 2609 came in a box glued closed. You have to damage it to open it. I'm guessing US boxes were the same. Looks like the rest of the world got boxes that can open/close. I guess that explains the variety of packins outside Canada/US.
  19. http://alexsretrotech.blogspot.ca/2014/02/1983-mattel-electronics-intellivision.html?m=1 According to this article. The ECS printer port takes a standard 3.5mm audio plug. What does your printer have? Maybe a standard 3.5mm audio cable would work.
  20. Thanks. Strange that we can find so many photos of different Intellivision pack-ins but not one Astrosmash pack-in.
  21. There's a dowloadable PDF of the Owner's Guide here. I think think the instructions for grabbing objects from cartridges are in the Step by Step Guide. http://www.intellivisionbrasil.com/Menu_Hardware.htm
  22. And from Germany; the photo with the pack in sticker came from one of the guys here on Atariage and it had Triple Action as the pack-in. edit: There's also a Japanese box; its one of my favourites. But I have no idea what it comes with; I don't read Japanese. All those European boxes with no labels about a pack-in. Anyone know if it came with a game; Intellivotion mentioned LV Poker & Blackjack, or would that be a different box?
  23. Motocross was in a 1981 price list too. From what I remember Motocross and Pinball were never released where I lived in Canada either. I waited for those 1983 releases to come out but couldn't find some of them. No Sea Battle on this list, and do they not play backgammon, or checkers in Germany
  24. Yeah. Switches up-down for the original Intellivision controller only. Switches up-up for autosense all controllers including Intellivision Flashback.
