more Mountain King tips: You can collect a nice bonus by finding the flame quickly. have your escape route memorized and do the same route every time. Favor ladders whenever possible, the game is a lot more forgiving with jumps to ladders than to ledges

I just got 80k in Mountain King!!! but I accidentally hit the button, triggering a new game before I could take a screenshot.

For Mountain King, it's better for your score to not try to escape too soon. Wait as long as you are able, to maximize your diamond collection and try to find all the hidden treasure chests. I usually end up doing this unintentionally just because the bats keep stealing back the crown on my ascent.

The second screen I use a direct approach, pretty much just go straight up, with a side movement to avoid the rocks. The last stage I totally stay off the beaten track!!
Hopefully you will roll it it soon, out of curiosity how long did it take for the 980k run?I can roll it in 45 minutes approximately.
what's the best timing to avoid the boulder. I just rely on luck, which is not a very reliable method.

up to 3300
you have to jump (press up) from an awkwardly wide angle. its also better to jump down then to fall, so that it doesn't waste as much of your timer.

watch the color of the eyes in the caves... they turn brown before an Eagle appears, just have to make sure you get to a shelter right away...

intellectually, I know Pitfall 2 is a well made game and it has a lot of great qualities. I just don't like it that much. Dodging is hard and getting sent back to a faraway check point and watching all those points roll back is one of the most gutting experiences in Atari gaming.

For the alligators, you don't have to line up with them to kill... just hit them from underneath... sort of the inverse of Joust.
To jump the witch doctor, I find it easiest to stand near the spot where he lands closer to you and jump right as he comes down.

I play whatever is the high score contest game. This week is Super Cobra, which is a primitive yet fun little Scramble clone.
