  1. I tried and tried, and couldn't score the requisite 2 points for participation on football
  2. I'm getting frustrated with football... I've only managed to complete 1 pass in 10 minutes... can't figure out the timing.
  3. 28,574 I've broken 40k on beamrider before to earn the patch score, so clearly I still need to shake some of the rust off
  4. 16,900... Made it to the future! All the way to the year 2001!
  5. Tried playing on real hardware, and managed to improve my score slightly: 33,500
  6. Wizard of Wor is way more fun 2 player 32,100 (if you break 30k you earn one of these:)
  7. Another score improvement for Game 1: 59,000
  8. Improved score: 50,000 updated Sit and Spin: 42,000
  9. If you have a chance, check out Thomas Jentzsch's twin joystick Battlezone hack! It really helps get it closer to the arcade feel.
  10. Game 1 40,000 Sit and Spin bonus: 32000
  11. Beamrider Tapper Reactor Death Trap Robot Tank Blueprint Squish'Em Princess Rescue
  12. The 3rd stage of the contest was to set a new world record in any one of the following: Pac-Man, Joust Arcade, Joust Atari 2600, Black Tiger, or Robotron 2084.
  13. Just watched it. Very good video! I also played some Wiz Warz (reskin of Arena) on Mame. Wow! What a great game!! It's like a combination of Tempest and Robotron
  14. Jim Rohn has a term called "The law of diminishing intent" “The longer you delay something the less probability you have of doing it”.
  15. Finally beat it on expert mode! Man is that tough!
  16. Beamrider is about a $30 game these days... can't really speak about PAL/European markets though
  17. I agree... my appreciation for his IDE is what sold me on buying his guide book. (I still haven't finished going through the whole book, but I was at least able to make some very simple programs and get them to run)
  18. Electronic Games' review of VCS Zaxxon is clear evidence that they were biased and didn't know what they were talking about. To call Zaxxon "the very best home video game cartridge in the land" is simply insane. Not only does it bare less resemblance to its arcade forebearer than Pac-man, it also plays considerably worse.
  19. Sadly, even Coleco Chamelon's pitch of "play indie steam games off of cartridges" was more compelling than anything Atari has offered to date. "Open system" is really only a selling point to hackers/tinkerers which is a small niche within the already niche market of "people who still care about the Atari brand" Atari would be better off developing a lineup of NEW games based on their IP library that would get people excited. Jeff Minter's Tempest 4000 is a perfect example... if that was a timed exclusive for Ataribox it might actually generate a few sales... (as long as it was accompanied by a handful of other equally compelling titles) Pair a popular IP's with a hot game designer... go the classic Activision route and try to promote the desiginers like gaming rockstars.. and bring back some of the original guys.. David Crane tried and failed to kickstart a Pitfall spirtual successor "Jungle Adventure".. .bring that to Ataribox!! Get HSW to make a new Yar’s Revenge. Get Tod Frye to do Swordquest Airworld! They could do the same with: Centipede Missile Command Alone in the Dark Ninja Golf Gauntlet Warlords Crystal Castle Adventure Food Fight Secret Quest Battlezone Asteroids Black Widow Major Havoc
