As you already know, the only real oddball on that list is Kangaroo which I told you on discord, I think is well made, but just way too hard for me to get into. Oddballs are good though. Your list is very Atari-centric. I tend to be more of an Activision fan.

I've been working my way through the book "Making games for the Atari 2600" by Steven Hugg. It has a nice web based ide at 8bitworkshop.com. I am also very interested in Pico-8, but haven't purchased it yet. https://www.lexaloffle.com/pico-8.php

I made a simple adjustment that solved the problem. Cut out little rectangles from corrugated cardboard (or something of comparable thickness) and use them as spacers. Voila. They now stack perfectly.

HERO (made it, just barely)

Just played it today! Wow. Really cool! I'd been playing a bunch of Berzerk lately and this is so much more fun. I love the Dalek graphics and voice samples, and the faster speed and diagonal shooting daleks is a lot better too.

In that screengrab you are way too close to the poop - you should already be in the air. A lot of the jumping requires starting the jump a lot earlier than seems intuitive... (especially to get past the mines). Not every poop needs to be shot, and you can change speed in mid-air.

He's just decorating the joystick casing... not making plug-n-plays.

I got this one the week before you started... if you don't want to count it thats fine.. but I don't intend to do it again.

so perhaps the reason it seems that it only registers a collision when the legs touch is that is maximizes the amount of time the two items are overlapping?
