  1. I love the NES! here are some price break downs Console (original model) costs $40-60 common games (average about $5 each) common high-demand games ($15-30) uncommon games ($25-50) rare games ($70-$$$$$$$$$$$$) You can probably save money by buying in lots Garage sales and thrift shops have kind of dried up. you might have luck in some flea markets specialty shops have nice selections but high prices Craigslist is hit-or-miss eBay tends to be on the upper end of those price ranges I mentioned... best if you can deal face-to-face with other gamers at meet-ups, swap-meets, conventions....
  2. I'm not very savvy when it comes to online game features, I have never tried it... I know that at one point it was possible to share games to others (who owned warioware DIY), but I believe that the Nintendo has discontinued their online service for that system, so I don't know if it possible anymore
  3. The whole point of the Warioware series is to play through a gauntlet of rapid-fIre mini games. The unique feature of this entry was that it included a game creator mode. The limitations are one of reasons it appeals to me, as it forces me to keep the scope of my game making endeavors small enough that I will actually have time to finish them.
  4. I like to make minigames using the Warioware game maker on the Nintendo DS. Here is a little Alpiner clone I started. (It's not finished yet)
  5. My idea for Retro VGS 2.0: I would ditch the high-end unity/steam games and make this be a 100% homebrew-on-cartridge system. Include FPGA cores for 2600, NES, SNES, Genesis as well as their own 16 bit core, and make a good game making tool to encourage new homebrewers... and then make a big part of their business be cartridge P.O.D.
  6. I just got into collecting Atari a couple months ago. Right now I'm somewhere around 60 carts (2600 and 7800)
  7. How about Journey the Escape... I think the little 8-bit rendition of Don't Stop Believing is kind of cute.
  8. There seems to be an awful lot of schadenfreude going on here. Disappointing but not surprising to see. I still would probably be down to by $150 console that played contemporary 8 to 16 bit looking games on cartridge. I'm just not seeing a must have game yet... you gotta have a game to be your system seller or its a non-starter, no matter who you are. Nintendo and Sega started out as game makers, and then had their own catalog of games to draw on when it came time to make a system. Sony and Microsoft had deep pockets and could just flat out buy developer studios.
  9. Defender was my favorite, followed closely by Parsec and TI Invaders
  10. I think the movie has a lot of scenes that could translate into a video game. Particularly the bike chase scene... In fact, thats a game I'd like to play, riding your bike over the hills, dodge the cops, and occasionally ET can use his powers to make you fly (but only for short bursts)
  11. I like the music in Vanguard, but it really bugs me that your lasers are silent... It needs a "pew...pew"... also an ambient engine hum in the background (a la combat or Yars) would have been welcome too.
  12. I enjoyed E.T. enough to want to make a version of it for the Nintendo DS using the Warioware DIY game maker:
  13. Why so many sealed games up there? I want to add games to my collection, but I have a hard to bringing myself to open old sealed games to play.. as for the loose carts, the pickings are slim.
  14. I was on the fence even if it was at a down to earth price of $150-200.... just don't know if I want to dedicate the space, and money to another console... but by making it so astronomically expensive, they made my decision easy. I will be watching the kickstarter closely just out of curiosity.
  15. I've been playing a lot of E.T. lately. I find it kind of addictive. I am really good on game 3... it's a little too easy honestly, but when you add in the FBI agent and Scientist just relentlessly stealing your stuff or capturing you it becomes really difficult!
