Game 1 Game 5

By the way, Rob Fulop's high score on Cosmic Ark was 17,500 and to earn the Gold Thumb award you needed 30,000 (Which would earn you a sticker) Dragonfire's score requirement was 25,000

probably the only way I'll ever be at the top of the leaderboard is if I post before all the huge scores come in Game 1

The origin of Cosmic Ark (and more importantly the star field) which doesn't display properly on Javatari emulator.... http://robfulop.com/blog/2008/04/14/making-david-crane-cry-the-origin-of-cosmic-ark/

Finally made it to the white dragon. To me, Dragonfire epitomizes the "just one more game" mentality. Its very addictive, even though I'm not that great at it. Extra kudos to Bob Smith for making the game reset with the joystick button! I always appreciate it when I don't have to hit reset to get back in the action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERK2_cyKkKQ

Finally starting to get the hang of it. Hope I can get my cart to work because playing on a keyboard is not ideal.

Season 7 ~ Week 3 ~ Wizard of Wor/Time Pilot
G-type replied to Vocelli's topic in 2600 High Score Club
My idea: is to implement a countdown timer that begins after you get the required number of ships, so you will be warped with or without killing the boss, but obviously you would miss out on the points if you don't go for the boss ship. For this variation the advanced strategy would be to try to cut it as close as possible, killing basic ships as the timer counts down and then hitting the boss at the last second. -
I find it quite challenging, but there are many players here who can crush me. *Edit* an alternate suggestion, if there are too many players who can achieve the max score is to use it as a bonus game

my picks: Activision: Pressure Cooker Arcade: Reactor, Blueprint Homebrew: Omicron, Draconian Paddle: Tac-Scan Never played on HSC: Space Attack (difficulty a/a) along with the proposed method of tracking scores: 1 point for each of your ships remaining (9 possible) 5 points for each enemy fleet totally destroyed (30 possible) Game I would love to play: Room of Doom How about an imagic week: No Escape, Dragonfire

I've been playing this recently and I wish I could have been able to play through it without walkthroughs, but its just way too cryptic otherwise and it requires too much poking about blindly. So this is a list of things that I think could be done to fix Raiders to make it a little more playable and fair. every screen should use the playfields to give some indication to entrances/exits and hidden entrances... For example: the entrance room, should have a wall on the right side, with perhaps a block missing to indicate the crack where the grenade can be used. I also would like to see some sort of adventure game description and conversation text included. (a la Dark Mage) If that couldn't be fit into the game, perhaps they could have built it into an accompanying booklet? This way you could get some clues about the maniac, the merchant who can guide you to the black market, or about how certain things change depending on the time of day. switching between items... why not just use the select switch? using the 2nd joystick is just so clunky. If you really wanted to do something with the second joystick, a better use might be to use it as a cursor to trigger the adventure game text. (if using the in-game text option) making the snake spawn right on top of you when you re-enter the first screen is super cheap. don't do that! Don't use the victory screen as the title screen.. it makes it confusing whether you just won the game or it rebooted. It would be more special to only see it at the end.

Activision Repro And/Or Homebrew Patches
G-type replied to retrogoober's topic in 2600 High Score Club
You should talk to Tom (Rebooteroids creator) He made some original Activision-style patches. I bought them from him and was very pleased with them. -
I was struggling to top your first score, but that was still within the realm of possibility. Congratulations, and good luck on the rest of the bracket!
-
I concede. There is no chance I can even come close to that.
-
Better than my score from the main season, but still not great.
-
I love Pressure Cooker, even though I'm not very good at it.

I was expecting to go to the bronze bracket. I probably would have stood a better chance there. Some tough competition here! I went back and looked at JasonAtari's scores compared to mine in the previous rounds, and it looks like he has about a 60% chance of winning.

Favorite Games: Frostbite and Beamrider: Two awesome Activision games. Kind of obvious choices, but they will always be favorites. honorable mentions: Death Trap, Quick Step, Wizard of Wor, Dark Cavern, and Squish'Em (Which I feel guilty about because it was a game I suggested, and then missed the deadline to post my score) Surprising Games: River Raid II. I had never played this before, but I had a blast with it, and am interested in getting a copy for my collection. Tunnel Runner: This was a recent pickup for me, but I hadn't gotten a chance to play it until now. I really like this game. Worst Games: RealSports Football. It's not on your list for some reason, but we played it week 4, and I couldn't score a single point! Night Driver: I played all my games on emulator this season, and this one was pretty much unplayable Dishonorable mentions: Shark Attack, Raft Rider, Wabbit
