  1. Hey everyone, i'm new to the arcade thread here.

I'm looking to buy a cabinet for my game room, and am very interested in the multi game systems.

I found a couple on craigslist, but not sure about the price.

See the Mario Bros cabinet here - has 2 boards with over 600 games each. My guess is that they are jamma boards???

He's asking $1600 for the working cab with both boards of Roms.
What do you think?? Worth the price? Or should i find and old cabinet and DIY one with a Jamma kit?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  2. Great guy to trade with.
Traded a Pitall2 manual for Castlevania Bloodlines.
Was totally honest about condition, and was quick to send pics.

Even threw in a little extra something in the trade.

    Great trade!

  3. I used to have a 4-switch woody back in the day, and of course, for nostalgia, I really prefer that.

But part of me would prefer the 6-switch over it because of the certain games that actually use the difficulty switches for gameplay.

I find that when playing Ghostbusters, trying to get to Stay Puft, reaching to find the small difficulty switch on the back is a pain in the butt.

  4. I haven't tried replacing any labels on my Actiplaqued originals, but what's the best procedure to get the old ones off? I'm thinking a combination of naphtha and medium heat if necessary.

The easiest and less-messy way i have found is using a simple heat gun....you can get them at lowes/home depot near the paint.

Don't need to use it too high, and just about 20 seconds or so over the label, and lift. It softens the adhesive enough to lift it right off, and doesn't damage the cart or plastic (if not too hot). It will leave a residue, but that only helps the new label stick anyway.

I do it all the time to repair labels or transfer labels with broken ICs.

    Works like a charm.

  5. Picked up my first 2600 console ever today at the flea market. Bought it from a guy I've been buying games from since moving here. No power cable at the moment, but he has vouched for it saying it works and will let me return it if it doesn't. As you can see I got the 4 switch woody. Wanted a system with the classic look to it, so I decided against the Jr. He also had a Vader, but it was pretty dirty and I wasn't sure how well it'd clean up. Might pick it up if it's still there next weekend.

Anyway, so all I need now is a power adapter. I believe he said it needs to be 120 volt or else it could fry the system. Anyone browsing this thread have a spare 2600 power adapter they could sell me? And perhaps an RCA to co ax adapter?

    Nice pick!

I got a retrobit adapter and RFtoCoax if you still need them.

The retrobit is the best aftermarket that i've found - little to no RF interference.

Don't get the crappy low-end ones - they will cause interference and static.
