My HDTV doesn't like my Intellivision

I dunno, babies like rattles. Now if it is a snake that is rattling, then that certainly is not a good sign -

There are a few adapters to make the controllers work on the computer. all these should be usable within the computer emulators. The Classic Game Controller, or CGC, may no longer be available: http://www.intellivision.us/intvgames/cgc/cgc.php The Ultimate PC Interface is the currently available adapter: http://www.intellivision.us/intvgames/interface/interface.php The Raphnet adapter is also currently available: http://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/intellivusb/index.php -
Off Topic - Anyone going to see Star Wars Force Awakens?

If you are a torrent kinda person, you may be able to find fanedits of the prequels that have redone the prequels removing Jar Jar, but also touching up the movies in an attempt to make them tolerable. I've downloaded a few of them, but I didn't keep any of them. -
I think many of us are sitting on spare units that have similar issues. I have one unit that doesn't boot, and a couple units that go bad after a few seconds/minutes of play. Until recently the prices on eBay were low enough that it was easier to buy another unit than spend time and effort on troubleshooting. That is changing. Pricing for replacement units is going higher. I may need to look into my defective guys before long, too.

The RF cables are better shielded than just a plain RCA cables, but using a coaxial cable would be better if you have a lot of cables. This is why we were trying to confirm the types of cables you are using. I think right now you mentioned you have things connected like this: INTV > RF Cable > Coaxial Adapter > VCR and the adapter is RCA female to coaxial male, correct? You are using an RF cable with the adapter at the end out at the TV-VCR end Maybe you can get a different adapter. One that is RCA male to coaxial female. This will allow you to connect like this: INTV > RCA/Coax Adapter > Coaxial cable > TV and in this way there is no RF cable at all. The better shielded coaxial cable is the one that is running along side your big bundle of other cables. Overall it may help, but to what degree is unknown if your INTV output is low to begin with. Also, since using the VCR seems to help, how are you connecting from the VCR to the TV? If you are using coaxial out of the VCR into the TV antenna in, have you tried to use VCR Composite Video (RCA) out of the VCR into the TV? -
Dave, You've seen everyone's wish list, but you certainly don't need to listen to any of it. Part of a round table discussion is to get everyone to chime in and then start shooting down the ideals that are beyond the scope of the project. We've heard many large requests, so now is the time to narrow things down. I think some of these items can become a great Super Pro Utopia release: 1p vs computer mode 1p mode to control both islands at the same time fixing existing bugs adding the governor's award (in 2 player mode only) that is mentioned in the manual but is missing from the existing game change up the weather a little (have an option of selecting old-school weather or fully random weather paths) I think just that small list alone would be a great update to the game, and one that many people would play. If you look at 90% of the posts, they were all for a 1 player mode. It will be one that I play a lot. The other items can become "Superdooper Pro Utopia 2", that uses ESC, and includes all the above, plus: 1 or 2 player modes, as above, but adding 3 or 4 player modes if ESC is connected selectable islands or one large continent that is subdivided More weather options (flooding, drought, etc) severe earth shattering events (tsunami, earthquakes, volcano, meteors, aliens, etc) More awards and challenges to achieve Variable strength items to withstand weather or rebels There was that recent poll asking about ESC and if additional games should be developed for it, well this is just an out cropping of that. If your heart isn't into the game, then it is understandable that trying to update it will be more of a chore and not a passion. Please let us know if we can change your mind for the Super Pro 1-player version, and maybe in the future one of the other producers may take on Superdooper Pro Utopia 2

What is your favorite ECS GAME/INTEREST CHECK
fdr4prez replied to atari5200dude82's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
This poll shows that there were two types of people buying ECS games. Nerds got Mind Strike and jocks got World Series Baseball. Back in the '80s (or early' 90s) when I bought my ECS I got Mind Strike at the same time. I wasn't quite nerdy enough, so Mind Strike was a bit beyond me. But I am not really a sports fan either, so maybe I should have gotten Scooby-Doo instead. -
Boy, in your first post above, you weren't kidding about trying to get a 3am fix of baseball, were you?

The storm systems into the US aren't that random. Each year: The west coast gets their storms sent over from Russia. The midwest gets their cold fronts dropped down from Canada. The east coast gets all their hurricanes sent up from the Caribbean. You see? very predictable

That is definitely a step in the right direction. Please take a picture of what you are using for making the connections, so we are all on the right page. Pimpmaul has offered to help work on your unit, but I think we'd like to see you connection methods so you don't ship it out for no reason. -
Ah, yeah. So many baseball games to keep track of. The one that Opry99er mentioned he wants does not use the Intellivoice, correct? But does have the 1 player mode. Only the World Series MLB game uses the Intellivoice, correct? But also requires the ECS.
-
I don't have one at all, but my understanding is that this is an ECS game, so without that you are stuck.

Well if you live on the west coast, it looks like most of our winter storms are made in Russia and work their way across the Pacific to us

COLLECTORVISION - Official Ordering Thread for SYDNEY HUNTER

Does the game play well on the Inty hardware? I've attempted to play on the Android and I find it very difficult to successfully jump, and when going from one screen to the next and always tripping over that skull, or whatnot, makes you not actually not want to walk from screen to screen but take baby steps to transition to the next screen so you have time to react to the hazards at the beginning of the new screen. -

I've not seen an VCR without a tuner. The biggest feature of a VCR is to allow you to record television shows. Modern televisions have weaker tuner receivers than older tube sets. This is why a few of us are recommending to use the VCR as a go-between, but have you attempted to go directly from the Intellivision to the TV without using your selector switch? -

I would like to see more ECS games. Even though it has more games than the Intellivoice, the ECS is underutilized as a gaming accessory. So with the advanced programming/games being done these days, just what exactly would using the ECS gain you? - 2k of RAM, is this really a needed benefit these days? - are there extra sound channels available since it had it's own sound chip? - 4 player games - computer keyboard support in games - musical keyboard support in games Anything thing else that having an ECS would be useful for? the non-existent 64k RAM add-on module may be a good benefit. Do we have any schematics for this, so we can make some of our own add-on memory modules? -
I played Utopia often enough as a youngster, but not since then. It is best played with two players and so a "player vs computer" mode would be great. I've not played this game in so long that I don't even know what enhancements I was dreaming of from way back then. What about if used with an ESC, then you can have a 4 person game, but I guess the islands would be too small at that point. And then you have two people vs two computers

Is it possible for you to move the power connection to the back, as well? having it on the side distracts from the console imagery -

Intellivision was a smaller market share than Atari, but I think some of this boils down to marketing for the homebrew releases. If all Inty releases get a chance to make it to the AA store, then more people will see them. And not everyone knows about AA. I certainly didn't until recently. Years ago I was lurking on the INTV Programming newsgroup and saw that Stonix and Space Patrol was released, so I was able to get those, but not all game releases were posted to the newsgroup and I missed out on many homebrew releases. So instead of lurking on that newsgroup I could've been lurking here sooner... and one would not think that a webpage named Atariage would be the biggest home for Intellivision collectors. When looking on eBay for Inty games, why don't the bigger producers have a eBay store? More of the unknowing masses look to eBay for games.

For testing, do you have a VCR that you can use as a go between? Intv into antenna in and composite out to the television? The tuner circuit in the VCR may be better than the tuner circuit in the TV
