  1. You can buy replacement official DVD drives for under $50 if you search. Installing it yourself should be no problem, given you have Torx screw drivers.

If you have the error code, give it. I could better diagnose the problem.

If you want to go the expensive way, you could chip the XBOX, and intall a second DVD drive with help from a Molex power splitter to use in conjuction with the Hard Drive. (The DVD power connector is not a typical/ replicable plug)

    Hope this helps.

  2. If this isn't the place to post this, just ignore it. I was wondering though, if anyone had some games I should check out. I used to play N64 a lot when I was younger, then I forgot all about it. But I was at some sell/trading store the other day and I saw a bunch of games really cheap. I've also been checking out eBay and I have a few auctions on my Nabit to watch, but I'd like to hear some gamers opinions.

Nothing to difficult, just to get me into the swing of things again. Please?

    Some good titles:

    Goldeneye 007

    Perfect Dark

    Super Mario 64

    Legend of Zelda: OOT

    F-Zero

    Super Smash Bros.

    Vigilante 8

    Star Fox

    Wave Race 64

    Blast Corps.

    Mario HArt 64

  3. I may be ending up with an Xbox that has a broken DVD-ROM drive in the next couple of weeks.  (nephews' old unit; I plan to trade them a new one for the old one for christmas)

I'm aware that you can't read original disks without a genuine DVD-ROM (aside from maybe one kind of Samsung that can be reflashed), so would getting a mod chip be good for making a MAME box?  The Dreamcast is nice with its CD boot loophole and all, but 200MHz just isn't quite enough for SNES emulation.

    You do need a chip.

Fairly simple procedure, though. You just need a molex power splitter for splitting the HD's power with your new DVD_Rom drive.
