Is that just random Latin, or is it about Virgil's patron Maecenas? I've just run it through Google translate and it comes up with nonsense about North Korea and proteins.

I've got both a 2-port 5200 and a 4-port. A few months ago, one of the kids stepped on the 2-port console, and now it won't turn on, so I stopped playing my Ataris all together (I also have two non-functional 7800s). Today I tried connecting my 4-port, which I don't think I've used for at least 5 years. Plugged everything in, connected it to my 1984-vintage Toshiba analog TV, pressed the power button, LED came on, switchbox clicked, and no picture whatsoever on the TV, on any channel. Have the switchboxes been known to stop working after a time? I'm starting to think it might be easier to have the 2-port looked into, it's probably something loose inside; I've just opened it up and can't find anything, but then again my knowledge of electronics is rather limited. Is there any hope of making the switchbox work again?

I can regularly crack 300,000 on 2600 Millipede. Wish I had a working console to play it on.

Is a working analog controller needed to play this? I've never been much of a fan of Tempest, but I may give this one a go one of these days.

Anyone interested in a non-working PSP or DS Lite?
Chris-in-NJ replied to Chris-in-NJ's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I had no idea that there is more than one kind of PSP. I'm sure it's a PSP-1000. -
I've got one of each. The PSP turns on but won't read any discs, due to the fact that my kids dropped it on the floor one too many times. The DS Lite had an unexpected trip into the toilet bowl. Amazingly, it too turns on but only for a second or so before turning off again. I have power cords for both. Anyone interested in this sort of thing?

I have these games and would like to sell them. Further information: PSP: Need for Speed - Most Wanted - 5-1-0 (or is it S-1-0?). Like new, played only a few times (couldn't get the hang of it). Includes manual and box Pac-Man World 3 for PC. Includes the box and one CD-ROM, no instructions. Game gave me motion sickness. Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy for PC. Includes the box and one CD-ROM, no instructions. Gave up on it in frustration, too "modern" for me (I'm a 5200 player at heart.) I'm in the USA. Make me an offer. I'll ship these overseas should the need arise. PayPal for payment is required.

FS: 5200 Boulder Dash II with red box
Chris-in-NJ replied to Chris-in-NJ's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
This has now been placed on eBay. -
FS in the USA: Boulder Dash II: Rockford's Revenge for the Atari 5200, complete with (opened) red box and instructions. The box is not quite mint perfect, but as is visible from the screen shot, the game works just fine. Payment by PayPal only. Please take shipping costs into consideration if you're outside the USA, as I'll send this overseas if any potential buyer so wishes.

Are the patent numbers the same? That is to say, do 5200s with labels that say CX-5200 have the same numbers on them?

I have a 1984-vintage TV in the attic that's used only for my game playing. If I brought my 5200 downstairs I'm sure the Mrs. would have a fit (and not one made by Honda.)

I've got a 4-port 5200 that's in excellent cosmetic shape up in my attic, and have been wondering how would one go about shipping one of these monsters, and how much it would cost? I've got the switchbox, and last time I checked it all worked. I do not have any working controllers. (I have a 2-port and a Redemption that I use for my 5200 needs, as seen in the avatar on the left.)

FS: 2600 Activision Decathlon sealed
Chris-in-NJ replied to Chris-in-NJ's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Must say it doesn't look at all faded to me! I could even see it while looking through the store's front window. Couldn't see the second one. First one has been sold, I'm still awaiting offers and/or replies to PMs as to whether or not I'll buy the second one. -
FS: 2600 Activision Decathlon sealed
Chris-in-NJ replied to Chris-in-NJ's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
It came as something of a surprise to me as well. The woman behind the counter told me it's been there since 1983, and I can believe it, as there are quite a few boxes of hair driers and cameras that look to be as old as that on the shelves. -
Last night at around 1AM, turned on my 5200 and started playing Gyruss. Made it to 3 warps to Earth, almost the farthest I've ever did. At this point, the ships start behaving like Kamikazes, and I managed to lose 4 ships on the one screen. Now, I have Gyruss for the Game Boy Advanced that I play on my daughter's Nintendo DS Lite, and here are a few observations: -- 5200 seems to be quite a bit easier in the early boards, but the graphics at times had me mistaking a shot from one of the enemy ships for a star. -- Once past Saturn, the ships seem to follow more regular patterns, and I found myself able to shoot down entire squadrons at this point, something I've never been able to do in either the 5200 or the GBA versions. -- The chance stages are a lot, lot easier on the 5200. I've never been able to get a perfect on the GBA, but get it 9 times out of 10 on the 5200, at least before Jupiter that is. -- When they're yellow, the ships look rather like corn pops, in fact my youngest asked me if they were popcorn the other day! My score last night made it over 249,000, my best ever. Must practice a bit more. BTW I've been playing it with my 7800 Redemption, and have no problems whatsoever in controlling my ship.

Connected my 5200 last night and played a few games of Berzerk. I'm lucky enough to have a Redemption, and scored 7990 on my second game in over a year. My 9-year-old niece started out by heaping scorn on the cheap-looking graphics, but a few minutes of watching me play won her over and she wanted to try it herself. Her mom came by and she had to leave, however. Before this I'd played one game of Millipede, and got nearly 330,000. Now I know why the 7800 sticks are called "pain lines".

1976 copyright on Tank Plus? That's new to me.

The cart is available from the Digital Press store in Clifton, NJ. Went there the day after Christmas and they had at least half-a-dozen on their shelves.

I've got a copy of Boulder Dash II with box (not sure aboout the instructions). Don't really like the game all that much, and am wondering if there's anyone here who has a spare 7800 console who might be interested in a trade? One condition that has to be met is that it must play Pac-Man Collection; if it can play 2600 Robot Tank as well that'd be a nice bonus. Another nice bonus would be for either S-Video or composite output that'd be even greater. I'm in northern New Jersey. Are there any takers, or does this offer appear rather one-sided? (Another question -- will a 7800 play properly on a modern(ish) LCD TV without sync problems?)

Atari Flashback 3
Chris-in-NJ replied to thegamezmaster's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
This has come out of the blue, haven't been reading these boards for the best part of a year. I've got an FB2 but alas the joysticks both broke after only a few months of use, so I'm wondering if these will be better. The extra games are eother ones I have original cartridges for or are ones that don't interest me in the slightest, so unless the joysticks are built to a higher standard than the ones in the FB2 or if I can find one in a store like Big Lots or Odd Job (are they still around?) in a few months, I think I'll be passing on this one. -
Y-adapter to plug two controllers in the same port
Chris-in-NJ replied to Rex Dart's topic in Atari 2600
It did work with two 2600 controllers. I never had a TI computer, and nobody I knew ever owned one either. It *may* have come from K-Mart.
