Brian O, are you in Newark, Nutley, or Bloomfield then?

Y-adapter to plug two controllers in the same port
Chris-in-NJ replied to Rex Dart's topic in Atari 2600
I had one of these back in the day. I'm sure it came from Radio Shack. -
Like them, but I've got a quibble as well, and I tend to see it in lots of places, including on a re-release for a more modern game system. It's YARS' REVENGE, not YAR'S REVENGE!

Recommend me some retro Game Boy Advance titles
Chris-in-NJ replied to Chris-in-NJ's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Managed to find the Konami collection at the Digital Press store in Clifton, NJ, last week for $9. My 7-year-old loves Frogger (she also likes the 2600 version). Gyruss plays better on the 5200 IMHO. Can't stand the control scheme the DS uses, have always hated the Nintendo four-way joystick that they seemed to use from day one on all their systems. The 5200 has better music as well Time Pilot I'm finding practically unplayable, most likely due to the control layout as well. -
Recommend me some retro Game Boy Advance titles
Chris-in-NJ replied to Chris-in-NJ's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Thanks, guys. Had a quick look at the Video Game Critic, and I see there's a Konami collection that includes Gyruss and Scramble. This is one title I'll be on the look-out for. -
Just got a DS Lite for my 7-year-old daughter for Christmas, and would like to have some idea of what sorts of retro games are available for the Game Boy Advance, with which the system is backwards compatible. By "retro" I mean arcade games from the late 1970s/early 1980s prior to the Crash. Can anyone recommend a good website? The Video Game Critic hasn't reviewed a GBA game in over two years. I'm interested in how the various Pitfall games in particular compare to someone who really likes 2600 Pitfall II.

I've got two non-functional 7800s in my attic here with me. Is there anyone here who would either repair them or swap for a working model? I'd even swap both non-working ones for one working one. I'd really like it if recent homebrews, such as Pac-Man Collection, would work in it too (it worked in both of these, but not in a co-worker's console.) On one of them, something simply snapped off the RF modulator, so I can only get a signal out of it if I hold the RCA cable in place. On the other, something snapped off that holds the power cord in place, so no power gets through. Many years ago, in the mid 1980s, my older brother modified this console to take a universal power supply that he bought at Radio Shack, so this does *not* use a stock 7800 power cord. I *think* I have the power cord still. Both these consoles have been unscrewed, and I *think* I have all the parts still, apart from the ones that broke off. I'm in the USA. Can anyone help? I'd also like to know what would be my best way of shipping these and how much they'd be likely to cost, and if there is a Priority Mail flat-rate box that'll hold one or both of them, should anyone know. I'm also on the look-out for working 7800 sticks, as I'm one of the few who has a Redemption adapter for his 5200. Again, I'd consider trades, perhaps two non-working for one working. Have also got a 2600 power cord around here somewhere, if someone could motivate me I could perhaps throw that in as well should it be needed. That's not all -- also have a working four-port 5200, complete with original switchbox, but am not sure where it is. Could be persuaded to look for it should the price be right...

Curse you, Al. yet another "new" Atari game I can't afford to buy at the moment. Several years ago I had the 2600 version of this from CPUWIZ and hated it. The 5200 one looks incredible.

I'm in the USA and am looking to either sell or trade the following 2600 homebrews: Conquest of Mars $20 Gingerbread Man $20 Seawolf $15 I'll over free shipping within the USA. I'd be willing to trade for 2600 Juno First and/or 7800 Jr. Pac-Man, though I'd pay extra should any potential buyer wish to trade and only wants one of the titles I'm offering. The three games all come with the original instruction booklets, though the ones for Conquest and Seawolf are bent ever so slightly on the extreme right-hand side.

Erm, can anyone say if the joysticks are identical to the ones in the older FB2, or have they been strengthened so they don't break after a few months' use? Like lots of people here, I loved the FB2 sticks before the shafts broke off and would buy an FB2+ just to get new sticks that would last me as long as my still-working 1979-vintage stick.

I'd say the TV might be the culprit, but I can't see how it could slow down the audio in time with the rolling!
-
Something fishy's going on. Tried the game again today, after playing several other games, mostly 7800 homebrews, for about twenty minutes beforehand, and the level of rolling was severely reduced. Maybe there's something in my 7800 that needs to warm up a bit? Seems odd that only Go Fish affects it this way. My TV is a Toshiba 26" built in 1986 that's never given me any trouble. It's been used only for Atari gaming for the past five years or so. I'll keep trying it over the next few days and see what happens.

Some more background information: I think I bought the game sometime during 2006, and it played fine on my 7800. I haven't used a 2600 in about a decade and no longer have one (that's a different story, though.) Around 18 months ago, the RF modulator on my 7800 died, so I picked up another console at the Digital Press store in Clifton, NJ. It's only recently that Go Fish has started rolling. It seems to be getting worse and worse every time I play it -- when I last tried it around 7 or 8 months ago (my 5200 was connected in the meantime, so the 7800 was kept in a box) it rolled slightly, a bit distracting but not too much. Is my 7800 becoming less and less tolerant of certain games? 7800 Pac-Man Collection has never given me a problem (though a co-worker I lent it to couldn't get it to work on his 7800), nor has any 7800 homebrew I own. Hope it's nothing serious...

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't seem to be able to find it with a search here. Here goes: Why is my Go Fish rolling on my NTSC 7800? I've looked in the manual and can't find a reason, such as a difficulty switch outputting the game in PAL. My typical game is me as a big fish with the music on. Recently, I've been experiencing slow-downs in addition to the picture rolling. Go Fish is one of my favorite 2600 homebrews and I'd appreciate some help as to why it's started doing this. Is it my 7800 being "fussy"?

Found the post. I thought that, since clicking on "My Posts" only turns up 30 or so, my earlier ones had disappeared with the move to the new server. Anyway, it's here. No photo, sadly. Click!

I posted about one on the wall in my Friday's in Clifton, NJ a few years back. Posts from that era don't exist anymore, I take it?

I've had a Commodore computer power supply in my cars' trunks for about the past ten years or so, and thought I'd finally go about seeing if anyone else needs it. I don't know where I got it from, as I've never owned a Commodore computer. Here's some of the text imprinted on it: INPUT: 117V 50/60Hz 40VA OUTPUT: 5VDC 7.5W 9VAC 6.7VA Further down is P/N. 251053-02 1-84 Since I have no idea what equipment this is used with, hopefully this information will help anyone interested. Wrapped around this is an Atari power adapter. I also have no idea what equipment this is used for. On it is written: Part No. C016353 INPUT: 120VAC 60Hz 11W OUTPUT: 9V DC 500mA DVE DV-9500 These are for North American systems. Anyone interested, please PM me. The Commodore one weighs a ton so I'd most likely need to use a Priority Mail flat-rate box to ship it. The Atari one by contrast weighs almost nothing, so shipping options are variable.

Figured out how to play it by watching the attract sequence, something I hadn't thought of before. Also found a webpage about it with lots of screenshots from the C64 version. Having said that, I still can't get the "magic wall" properly and chances are I'll be selling this pretty soon. I've still got the box and manual somewhere...

I picked up a copy of this a few years ago (#30 for those who care for such things) and can't figure out how to play it. I've never been able to finish even one cave, even after reading the instructions. How do I explode a wall? If I can't figure out how to play it, maybe I'll put it up for sale...

I've made it to one warp away from Earth, but only once, have never been able to get that far since. That dreaded asteroid bug killed me. Should get this one out and have a go now that my headache's going away...

I saw my Pac-Man ghost shirt, as mentioned by me in the first page in this thread, at an fye store a few weeks ago in the clearance section.

The Dreadnaught Factor has gone to eBay, along with all the 2600 titles.

I work afternoons and evenings, hence no reply until now

How to get the spider bug: Start a game with 0 points. Only shoot when you have a target in site. It's possible to rack up over 10,000 points this way by shooting only bees, spiders and DDT bombs. After the bonus, at times two spiders will come out at once. A few times of this happening will usually trigger the bug. I've noticed that, if an unmoving spider stays throughout the second wave, it'll sometimes disappear during the bee swarm, but the sound will continue until the swarm ends. Now, anyway can do it
