The spider bug has been happening to me quite a bit recently. It won't move, sometimes the spider noise is present, sometimes not. Running into it will kill you even if it doesn't move. I'm playing this on a cart bought from the Atari Age store ages ago (say 2002 or 2003) on a 2-port 5200 if that might account for anything.

I've got quite a few of these in the closet next to me, and before I consider putting them on eBay, I thought I'd mention them here. Popular Mechanics, around 50 or so issues dating from 1932 to the late 1950s. Yellowed with age, but it looks like all the pages are intact. european car, always spelled in lower case on the covers. Quite a few, including some dating back to the time it was known as VW & Porsche. I think I have the majority of issues published during the 1990s, and in some instances I have every issue from certain years. (These were a gift from my older brother.) Please PM me should there be any interest in these. I'm in the USA but will ship them anywhere.

Pigs in Space and A-VCS-tec Challenge have been spoken for, everything else is still available. Come on, people, I've got some R3s in there!

I'm in the USA and am offering for sale the following 2600 carts. I'm not looking to make a killing here, and would like offers. I'll ship anywhere so long as the additional shipping costs are taken into account by any potential buyer outside the USA. I'd like payment in PayPal only, please. Here goes: Amidar A-VCS-tec Challenge (includes manual) Canyon Bomber (yellow text label) Fantastic Voyage Fishing Derby M.A.D. M*A*S*H Mega Force Outlaw (picture label) Oystron (includes manual) Pigs in Space Spider-man Star Wars: Jedi Arena Strawberry Shortcake Any questions about conditions of the labels and whatnot I'll do my best to answer.

Is that a moth on top of one of your picture-label Bowling carts? -
Played a few rounds of Millipede this morning, and had two rather extraordinary things happen. During a swarm, a spider appeared on the left-hand side of the screen, and just stayed there, no moving, no audio. As soon as the swarm finished, the spider vanished. During one of the times when the mushrooms are rearranging and replenishing themselves between rounds, I got stuck between two mushrooms and couldn't move! These things ever happened to anyone else?

Season 2 5200 HSC Round 10 *Super Pac-Man*
Chris-in-NJ replied to darthkur's topic in 5200 High Score Club
I've tried that Cafeman, and it doesn't work. There's a delay while the page says "Uploading File...", but it still says "Manage Current Attachments (0)" near the bottom afterward, and the image just isn't there. -
Here are the images, as displayed on my Facebook page: Click! and Click! again.

Season 2 5200 HSC Round 10 *Super Pac-Man*
Chris-in-NJ replied to darthkur's topic in 5200 High Score Club
Still can't figure out why I can't post photos here with either Firefox or IE, so I added them to my Facebook page. Like I said, when I can concentrate, I can beat 100,000. On this game I even managed to die on the banana board but still managed 150,590: Click! -
I've got a dusty, beat-up two-port that I inherited from my older brother's ex-roommate that I connect to a 1987-vintage Toshiba 20" TV with a nice RCA-to-75 ohm adapter. I use this basically so that when I want to use my 7800, I just unplug the one black wire rather than worrying about the automatic switchbox of my much shinier 4-port. Truth be told, I'm a bit scared of the switchbox as it always seems to spark whenever I connect it. With such a small screen and not having to use one of those Radio Shack-style slider switchboxes I think my picture looks rather good. Neither of the two TVs downstairs have analog tuners so I guess I'll never know what Atari looks like on an LCD or a plasma unless I get them modified.

Season 2 5200 HSC Round 10 *Super Pac-Man*
Chris-in-NJ replied to darthkur's topic in 5200 High Score Club
Wow! I typically play this with my Redemption adapter and a stock 7800 Pain-line and usually beat 100,000 when I concentrate. If I could figure out why I'm not able to post photos here I could get some pics... -
A couple months ago I found a nice T-shirt with all four Pac-Man ghosts and no text for $10 at Sears. They also had one with the first screen from Donkey Kong which the wife pointed out to me, but as I've always hated DK I had to pass on it

On Wednesday, Nightline had a story on how difficult it is to buy American-made items. Near the end of the report, they dress up a mannequin with items bought at Wal-Mart, and one of the people doing it has a black T-shirt with a white Atari logo on it. Go here to see it.

Just played the 5200 version for the first time ever, having had the cart in my collection since I got my 5200 running in 2003. The ghosts are so aggressive! They seem to be just too smart and head for you almost immediately. Even with the five lives you get, I couldn't make it past the banana board, something I can do on the arcade and 7800 versions (with three lives on Pac-Man Plus's Collection cart) practically every time.

A random dot. I only had two left, next to each other. Ate one, the other stayed on screen when the maze flashed and ended.
-
Looks like the quoted text feature is messing up... I don't think I've seen my bug mentioned before, the one with being unable to clear the maze is well known. My point was that I could still clear the maze even with one dot still visible and therefore uneaten.
-
Discovered during my last game. Somehow I managed to successfully eat an energizer at the same time that the tricycle was destroying it, and the ghosts indeed turned blue. The destruction noise continued for a few moments after the ghosts changed. Near the end of the board, I still had one dot left when the level ended and the second maze began as normal. (I managed to complete the board without losing a life, something I haven't been able to do in a long, long time.) Anyone else have this happen before?

Hi! question about the Atari - Jr. Pac-Man discovered!
Chris-in-NJ replied to FrauBlucha's topic in Atari 7800
Just been playing my 5200 repro cartridge, and apart from not having to have the hassle of setting up the Redemption adapter every time I want to play, can someone tell me how the 7800 version will be better? I'm guessing a few things it'll have... 1. No flicker 2. No bug whereby you can't finish a maze if you die when an energizer is being destroyed 3. Intermissions Anything else? The 5200 version is so good, so how's about convincing me a little as to why I should buy the 7800 version? -
I've had a Redemption adapter for nearly five years now and used to use the start button on my original Trak-ball to start a game. The button fell in about a year ago and I haven't tried to use it since, until today with my nephew visiting. He suggested I try the start buttons on my five non-working 5200 joysticks and see if I could get one of them to work. I had disassembled one of them around the time I got the Redemption, and taking this apart, he suggested I touch the start button with something metal. I used one of the screws from the joystick, and voila. I can play again! How much I'd missed Jr. Pac-Man... The new 7800 version's gonna have to be quite a bit better than this one if I'm to spend my cash on one...

Hi! question about the Atari - Jr. Pac-Man discovered!
Chris-in-NJ replied to FrauBlucha's topic in Atari 7800
Aargh! Now I know why I'd given up on emulators in the past. I downloaded the ProSystem emulator. The only .bin that works gives me just the ghosts and Jr. Pac-Man in the middle of the screen. All the other ones Vista tells me can't be found when I try to open them from ProSystem. -

Will there be a discount of one wants to order both Super Pac-Man and Jr. Pac-Man at the same time? -

Chris-in-NJ replied to FrauBlucha's topic in Atari 7800
Should anyone put this on a cart, put me down for one. 5200 Jr. Pac-Man was one of my most played games until the start button on my Trak-ball decided to cave in and stop working. -
FS: Some Doctor Who magazines and Star Trek books
Chris-in-NJ posted a topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I more or less "inherited" the following Star Trek books after my sister finished reading them, and they've been on my shelves more or less untouched since then... - Star Trek: Federation, by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens, hardback, first edition, dust jacket has slight wear near the top. Original cover price $22/GBP9.99 - Star Trek Memories, William Shatner's autobiography. First edition hardback, no dust cover, slightly scuffed - The Star Trek Encyclopedia, by Michael Okuda, Denise Okuda and Debbie Mirek. Published April 1994, before TNG had ended. Large format paperback, has warped a bit in the intervening years, original cover price $18 - Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual, by Rick Sternbach and Michael Okuda, published 1991, original cover price $13. Has a sticker on the front cover from a Barnes & Noble, where it sold for $5 used who knows how many years ago. Very good condition, not warped like the Encyclopedia. Doctor Who Files, all written by John Peel and published in the USA by New Media (whatever happened to them?) around 1986/7. I have the first nine volumes, covering up to The Enemy of the World, as well as the Peter Cushing Dalek movie issue. They're generally in decent condition, since they've been in protective plastic covers for the past 20+ years. Would prefer to sell them in one lot. Doctor Who Weekly, issue from 7th May, 1980. Bought at Visions '97 and untouched since then when I realized I already had the issue in my collection! Very good condition, some minor creasing in the spine. Doctor Who Magazine #193, 25th November, 1992. Very good, again some slight creasing in the spine. DWM Holiday Special: Sarah Jane Smith. Very good, some slight bending in the lower right-hand corner. Doctor Who Poster Magazine, #2. Looks like new. In-Vision issue devoted to The Deadly Assassin, fair condition, lots of creases on the cover near the top left corner. I'm in the USA and will ship anywhere, and will accept offers. Bear in mind additional shipping costs for any items outside the USA. I'd prefer payment with PayPal. Whew! Since this is an Atari site, I'd also be willing to trade for some games for the 2600/5200/7800... -
I've just been playing it at the advanced level, and my hand hurts from the PainLine joysticks. One strategy I've been using is to fly as little as possible. If you just hop on the ground, most of the enemies will fly directly into your arrows. During one of my games just now, I managed to collect nine purple jewels, though when I got another one the counter didn't go to ten. During the bonus round I managed over 34,000 points and got four extra lives! I love Desert Falcon, flaws and all.
