It is Space Invaders, at least in V.

Been playing a lot of Demons to Diamonds, mainly because it looks like all three of my 7800 "Pain Line" sticks no longer move down, and I'm too lazy to go digging out my old 2600 sticks.

Managed to beat 7500 last night. Man, but those skulls start to move fast!

Grandma's Revenge on the 2007 Holiday Cart. Uses the driving controllers, and is loads of fun. I have a soft spot for Bump 'n' Jump too, great game, and amazingly flicker-free.

I think they're talking about Super Pac-Man, but that bug you're describing is found in Jr. Pac-Man. :dunce: That'll teach me to reply without reading more of the original first.

skunkworx said: you can't get Space Dungeon anywhere else.. Not necessarily true anymore. You can get it for the PSP on Taito Legends Power-up.

Just bought Demons to Diamonds recently for $2 and love it all over again. My original paddles have had one cleaning in their life and still work fine allowing me to enjoy this really fast game. My 5-year-old daughter likes to play it with me, though of course she's nowhere near as good at it as I am My high score is somewhere just over the 5,000 mark on game one. Anyone do any better? It gets really really fast at this point and the random skulls pop up more and more frequently.

Does the "final" version have the destroyed energizer bug fixed?

I bought a copy last night, and it's bloody hard! One thing that particularly annoys me is if you shoot a spy, its replacement may appear in the exact same place before you've had a chance to move away, costing you a life. I don't think I've managed to get the extra life more than once in the twenty or so times I've played it.

Went to Digital Press today, and bought Mouse Trap and Infiltrate for $3.99 each. Now if I could only figure out how to play them

Digital Press is great. Must head back there soon, maybe they've got some more homebrews in stock...

I'm 36 and all the employees at Game Stop are indeed younger than me One time though, when I bought the Taito Legends CD-ROM, the employee was actually older than me and had a working 5200, or so he claimed...

Picked this during the holiday sale, and would just like to say how much I've been enjoying playing it recently. The concept seems rather simple, but the difficulty ramps up at a nice pace, but I never get the feeling that it's becoming too hard. I like the way the aliens (or whatever they are) have their own individual patterns of movement. I thought this'd be rip-off of Crazy Climber, a game I never liked in the arcade and have never played on the 2600 (not even in an emulator) but it's not. In fact, I think I'll try a few rounds now, and see if I can top 25K on it, which I'm sure is pitifully low compared to what others here most likely typically score...

Just bought this today, new, for $12.99, because it has one game on it that I've heard so much about but never played before: Space Dungeon, and considering how much working 5200 controllers go for, I figured this would be the cheapest way to play it. I've already got the CD-ROM version for my computer, but there are quick a few games on the PSP version that aren't present on the CD-ROM and vice-versa. It's not bad, you use the analog stick to move and the four buttons on the right to fire in four directions. I see from the Video Game Critic's review of the 5200 version that it features 8--way shooting. Does the arcade game have it too? As to the other games, Crazy Balloon is on it, something I've never played before either, and it's incredibly frustrating. It looks so simple but it's fiendishly difficult. Balloon Bomber is just plain awful, probably the reason I'd never heard of it before. Qix is on it, and it plays great, but Zoo Keeper, present on the CD-ROM, is not. Still, I look forward to mastering Space Dungeon without having to struggle with 5200 joysticks

Funny how the Activision pirates have Actiplaque on them! Nice to see the pirates going the extra mile (or should it be kilometer?) for a bit of authenticity...

Figured it out. First score: 4820. Man, this gets hard fast! Still, for $2.99 I shan't complain. Plus, it shares its name with the American title of a British puppet series that I'm watching on DVD now -- Space Patrol.

Just bought this game last week for $2.99 at the Digital Press store, and can't for the life of me figure out how to finish a level. I think I'll give it a few rounds right now, assuming it stays inside my 7800's cartridge slot -- it has a tendency to get loose with the slightest movement of the console.

Better quality Activision and Atari commercials
Chris-in-NJ replied to Random Terrain's topic in Atari 2600
Nice commercials. One of the UK ones with Morecambe & Wise has them playing Haunted House, and the typeface on the cart is different to the ones I've seen. It's -
Played this a bit more last night, after having discovered that I had the arcade version on my Taito Legends CD-ROM. The 2600 version is better in at least one respect in that the original makes you press fire repeatedly. Not only that, but it seems to play better IMHO. I like the way your city does not magically repair itself between waves. My highest score to date is 174900.

what's the best 2600 joystick controller you ever had
Chris-in-NJ replied to Electric T V's topic in Atari 2600
I used to have a Radio Shack/Archer stick with suction cups. It was great playing Robot Tank with. Last time I was in the Digital Press store, they had one on the shelves selling for $7, but seeing as I had two functioning FB2 sticks then I passed on it. Both FB2 sticks have been snapped, one by being stepped on, the other while playing Midnight Magic. I think I'll either try to glue one of them back together or hope the Archer stick is still in Clifton. -
Also note that the misspelling "Atrai" occurs on both labels, not just the Atlantis one.

Love Grandma's Revenge with the driving controller, though it took me a while to figure out how to choose it as an option. I noticed that, even when I didn't have it selected, the DC button still started a game, though Stay Frosty seems to me to be a touch too simple, but it's got the best graphics. Playing Elf Dash made me realize that my 7800 stick doesn't move down anymore That would also explain why I had such a hard time trying to play b*nQ with it... (Note to self: crazy-glue my FB2 sticks back together!)

I played it last night, and enjoy it more than Atlantis and Missile Command combined, neither of which never really thrilled me all that much. It sure does get harder as the waves go on. Of the 2600 homebrews I bought during the Christmas sale, this looks to be my favorite.

That sounds just like my 7800! This is my second, and while the picture quality is much better, I still occasionally have the image getting brighter or duller for a few seconds. My old one did it on whatever TV I tried it on. (The new one has only ever been connected to my 1984-vintage Toshiba.)
