I just tried the demo today, and I think it's awesome so far. Seriously, I think it even surpasses the 5200 version. Well done!

I'd love to see some Colecovision collections if the licenses can be acquired. I know AtGames did it around 5 or 6 years back, but the emulation wasn't too great. I bet the Evercade could do a much better job of it. Maybe also with some of the newer homebrews that utilize the Super Game Module.

The VS is definitely on my radar. I won't pick one up immediately, but probably some time next year. It looks like it has a nice collection of games for it so far, which will only grow larger, and it's affordable. If my Hyperkin Trooper II works with it, that would be the icing on the cake.

One thing that definitely hurt the Amiga's chances were the lack of upgrade options (especially for the A500) and the price of the options that were available. I think that ultimately, it wasn't IBM or Microsoft that doomed the Amiga, but instead it was Creative (Sound Blaster) and S3 (911 GPU chip).

I think Pac-Man or Blaster as a pack-in game would've helped immensely. Also, redesigned controllers and maybe a LaserDisc expansion later on could've kept the 5200 going well into the late 80's.

How about these two from Coleco:
Cabbage Patch Kids: Adventures in the Park and Smurfs: Rescue from Gargamel's Castle. Both had great graphics for their time but neither has aged very well. The Smurf game was probably the better of the two but still doesn't hold a candle to SMB.

Fairly certain it wasn't Temple of Apshai. I played a bit of that back in the day on my Apple //c and I never had the game I'm thinking of on my Apple. If I recall correctly it was a single screen maze with no big open areas, every corridor was only one character wide just enough for your player or the enemies to traverse through. The big mechanic in the game was the completely hidden maze with the exception of the area around the player.
Sword of Fargoal! I have it on my C-64 mini. Fun game.

BC's Quest for Tires had great graphics for it's time AND scrolling! Pitfall II and Montezuma's Revenge are both excellent platformers but lack the scrolling. The only other scrolling platformer that comes to mind is Mountain King, but it's graphics are lacking and the game is frustratingly difficult.
But now that I'm thinking about it... Would Jungle Hunt be considered an early scrolling platformer?

Just to be clear, I was joking about that. It would be damn cool if they did have a console like that in space. Someday, maybe!

If I ever get to go to space, I'm definitely bringing some Atari with me!

Those are Seagull 78 adapters, and I can confirm there is an Atari 7800 aboard the International Space Station.

Wow! That is really cool. I knew they had raspberry pi's, but had no idea they had an Atari up there!

Under Windows exclusively, BupSystem is a much better alternative with a similar GUI.
I actually just tried it on the Raspberry Pi 4 and got it working through Wine and Box86. It's just a tad slow, but otherwise it's working really well and I can probably boost the speed by just lowering my screen resolution. Not bad!!

I think you just volunteered to organize the most kick-ass Atari bash the west coast has ever seen from the 25th-27th next year. May I suggest San Diego? ?I have a friend who lives near there. I wonder if he's doing anything that day. I'll have to call off work, obviously. Lol.

Just wondering if anyone has any big plans for Atari's 50th birthday coming up in a little over a year now.. Hopefully this pandemic will have died down by then and we can start having some kind of celebrations. I'm thinking parties, parades, all-day gaming, etc. Is anyone planning anything big on the west coast?

Loved it. I still have a few old tattered copies here from '84 and '85, along with an old copy of "Electronic Fun with Computers and Games". Both were great publications and some of the best sources of information we could get about new games and systems during that time.

Is prosystem still being updated? I've had trouble getting some newer homebrews working and the sound seems a bit off. Could it be because it's the libretro version?

Keep up the great work! I'm a big fan of the Atari 8-bit version, and so far this is looking miles better! ?

I've voted in everything except the 7800 and 5200/8-bit categories. The 7800 ones I'll have to play in OpenEmu. Anyone have a recommendation for an 8-bit emulator for Macs?
Atari800 is probably your best bet for 8-bit emulation. https://github.com/atari800/atari800/releases

this was a hard one for sure. So many great games
I agree! I'm usually partial to arcade ports, but Knight Guy on Board is loads of fun.

I just got a c64 mini a couple weeks ago, and I'm happy to see that the quality of these nominated atari games is at least as good, if not better than those c64 classics. Also, the included joystick works fine with retropie on my RPi 4, so I'm having a blast testing these games!

To run 'Last Squadron' in the Altirra emulator, you'll need this patched version:
Thank you! I had a very difficult time getting this to run with even the lr-atari800 emulator. Now it works like a charm with the non-libretro version!

Wow! So many great arcade ports that are WIP! It's very hard to choose a winner in this category. Can't wait for all of these to be completed!

Oscar, I love your work and CoolCV is an absolutely brilliant emulator. It works like a charm with retropie on my Raspberry Pi 2. However... I also recently upgraded to a Pi 4, and the lr-bluemsx emulator is a disappointment. It won't open zipped files, or sgm games. I managed to get CoolCV running outside of Retropie with TwisterOS and its awesome BoxX86 wrapper program, but it runs slowly. I also managed to compile ColEm and get it running outside of RetroPie, but it also won't open zipped files or use gamepads.
If you have the time in the near future, can you please try to re-compile CoolCV for the Pi 4, and get it included in an upcoming version of Retropie?

Well, looks like I got here too late for the vote, but I really liked Assembloids, Nutmeg, and YNXA. Really hard to pick a top one, since all three are fun. I also would give an honorable mention to Growing Ties

Tennis label variation

I found one from '85. Atari Corp. The text label says RealSports, but the picture on the front is this.
