I bought my base and CD units a little more than 15 years ago (all from Ebay).  I don't think I paid more than $50 each for the base units and $75 each for the Cds.  The CD I primarily use has the door release button binding a little (like doctorclu).  I really should fix that.  Anyway, yeah, I would never get into a Jag now at current prices.  I have a hard enough time affording a new game here and there.  Maybe when the GD becomes a bit more mainstream the prices for the CD will come down a bit.

I picked up a Brand new boxed Jaguar off Best Electronics about 6 years ago for $299US. Now they are $599US. Had I have known that I would have bought two back then lol. They were also selling Jag CDs for the same price...

Yes. If you're patient, you can get a working one for $700-800, a broken one for $400

    Ebay?

I still have the email from Best Electronics when I inquired about the Jaguar CD... $250 US!! I am kicking myself for not jumping on it.

  3. Hey guys, I just checked prices for the Atari Jaguar CD and HOLY SHIT! What the hell happened? I remember you could get them brand new maybe 5 years ago for around $300US? I was lucky to grab an Atari Jaguar brand new in 2015 for about $250US from the US but I hesitated on buying the Jaguar CDs they had in stock(I regret this bigtime). Why in the hell are they so expensive now? Are people actually paying $1,000US+ for them?

  4. I enjoy the Pro Controller, but I can honestly say they definitively NOT worth the ridiculous sums people are asking for them these days. It's a speculators market right now and prices have skyrocketed out of control. If you can find one for $100-$150 soemday go for it.

$100 is impossible but have seen a few go for circa $150-160US in the last few months. Still a huge amount for a controller. Weren't Best Electronics selling them new for like $30 some time ago?

  5. Hey guys, I recently bought a brand new NTSC Jaguar(120v) and am building up my game collection. I do live in Australia where the standard back in the day was PAL 50Htz which sucked because most games on SNES, NES, Genesis, Saturn, PS1 etc ran 17% slower and had borders running at the top and bottom of the screen resulting in a squashed image. Since the Xbox 360/PS3 onwards however, this is no longer an isse. Given my Jaguar is an NTSC unit, if I purchase say a UK version of Alien Vs Predator, will that run full screen and full speed? Or will it not run on my NTSC Jag? Or did the Jaguar not have this issue(I believe the 3DO was also essentially 'region free')? Any help would be very much appreciated!

PS I'll be running the Jag on my HDTV via XRGB-Mini and RGB scart. The TV supports 60htz.

  6. I'd love a copy of Rayman for my Jaguar... There is one on Ebay asking for like $170US complete but I refuse to contribute to this insane practice of games going for ludicrous prices(ie Panzer Dragoon Saga going for minimum $400US complete...). So yeh, I'll be going without rare games :P
