I am going to try printing it at a different orientation (standing up). It seems that printing it that way gets a smoother look as the edges are smoother. In terms of sanding, it shouldn't ruin it though.

I am opening up orders as we speak. See the first post for a tracking of all orders and what your status is. I'll be crossing names off the lists once delivered to that person. In terms of how to send payment, I'll PM you my PayPal address once I am ready to print yours off. Be sure if you see a "?" for color in the order list to let me know what color you would like as I can't print anything until I know what color you want it in. Prices are listed in the first post as well.Below is a picture of what you will be getting, it will have an engraved TI logo as well If you order silver/black then the thin part would be colored silver. Keep in mind that John has not received his build yet, once he does and confirms that it works, then I'll start accepting payment and printing people's cases out. For now feel free to get on the pre-order list by sending me a PM or posting here.

I can definitely print out a camera like that once this 3D Print job is done. Cool idea!
-
I just made a file with the TI logo engraved on the casing. I'll try printing one out to see how well it comes off!
-
You know what I might do. I think I'll try and engrave a TI logo on the top of the case. I can modify the stl files so that a TI logo is engraved into the casing. That would be neat.

New offer, for $13 plus shipping I'll spray paint the top silver for those interested in a 2-tone look. With the extra $2 I'll go out and buy some spray paint and spray paint the top if desired. Silver/Black will be another option!

1). $11 plus shipping 2). As far as I could tell before shipping it to John is that yes you have to take it apart. However, the design is of course not set in stone as these are being printed on demand. Therefore, if John or anyone wants to revise it as create another version of the case, that would be possible as well.

Good news, the first Nano PEB case has been printed in black and has been shipped to John (Sprintcarfan). He is getting this one free since it was his design. The normal cost of just the material would be $11 plus shipping. I'll start taking orders once John gets back and lets us all know how well it fits, don't want to mail out the cases if they do not fit correctly! I have the following color options available though once we get the ball rolling here: Black Blue Red White Ivory (a more subdued white) Tangerine (Orange) Olive Green Yellow All colors would be the same price. Feel free to let me know who is interested in what and how many and what I'll do is start a list of all the orders here in this main thread so we can keep track of things as well as who is where on the order list. Below is a picture of what some of these colors look like. They are in this order from front to back: Ivory, White, Blue, Black, Gray, Red, Tangerine (Orange), Yellow, Olive Green. The only one not available is gray. Should give you a good idea what these things will look like once printed. I'm sure John will post a picture of the case in use to this thread at some point. He should be getting the case Friday or Saturday, so keep tabs on this thread for the picture of the case in action if it fits good! I'm looking forward to that!

Cool. Looking forward to doing this as well.

Yeah, there's a lot of possibilities with 3D Printing. A lot of people have been using it to design cases for up and coming projects. I figured since not everyone has access to these high end printers, and with Christmas season coming up, there might be a big interest in something like this. Someone in the TI group here is looking at making some NanoPEB cases for one of the more recent expansion devices for that system and is interested in having me print some out.

When you have the dimensions finalized let me know and I'll run a model and send it to you. If it matches your needs, then I can start taking "orders" so to speak for all that want one. They could be done in red, white, or blue, so that would be the options for those interested in it (as I think using the good printers would be the only way to go for a nice looking case).

I just thought of this. Since I am just getting into collecting for the Colecovision and my new job involves managing 3D Printers and we have some very high quality ($25,000) printers here. It just hit me that maybe some guys here might need some things 3D Printed. If so, I could help. Is there any interest at all in having 3D Printed items made? The only thing is that I would need to have the model pre-rendered for printing, as I am not good at using the modeling software (at least not yet as I am just starting at the job). I was thinking that if someone has the know how on how to create a 3D model then I might be able to print the item out for you (note that the final file format needed is an .stl file, but I might be able to use some of the software (like Fusion 360) to create an .stl file from a model. Just something I thought I would trow out there to the community. The cost/value would be determined by the amount of plastic used for the print. I would love to trade for CIB Colecovision games for the cost of the print. It would be printed in ABS plastic (choice of red, white, or blue). I also have some smaller 3D Printers that are also good, but use PLA. The results are not as good as the $25,000 printers that use ABS but there are more color options for these (blue, neon green, yellow, orange, purple, gold, and red). Note that on these cheaper machines ($3000 machines) they would not be precision accurate like the higher end models. So if you need a screw hole with a screw that will fit into it, you would have to stick with the top notch printers. Just something I was thinking about to help boost my Colecovision collection and get it started!

Check this out. Christmas ornament perhaps? http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:613894 That's really neat. The quality on these machines I have should exceed what you see in that picture on that site. It would all be done in white if I used the good printers ($25,000 printers) and then you could just paint the two parts silver and black. Since I have no black or silver for the high end machines this is the best way. Probably just dip the plastic in a cup of silver and black paint or use one of those paint markers since it's small. I could also enlarge it to any size you would want as well if it's too small. Might make a nice Christmas ornament as I could add a little loop to the top!

Actually, in my experience, the 3D apps that you take a picture of an object 360 degrees around works even better than some of the scanners. They are also free.

My question is this: is there any chance you could make me a Parker Brothers case mold? I am interested in making one for the Tutankham prototype board. The board is longer than a normal cart, so it would be an extended PB case. I could take measurements of it if you think you could whip one up.
-
Well, I have access to Fusion 360 which can create STL files. If you have CAD software I can probably take that design and make an .stl file. Also, there's a program called 123D Design (http://www.123dapp.com/design) that is free and downloadbable where you can build your own 3D Objects and save them to an STL file.

PM'ed. I have to call him today to let him know, so we'll see if he can hold onto them in the meantime.

I just got a lead on some Colecovision carts in Edison, NJ. However, the guy is interested in someone picking them up. I live down in Florida and was wondering if anyone is up in the Edison, NJ area? Just thought I would check to see if there were any AtariAge members that could help me out as I'm just getting my collection going and it would be a great boost. I could offer $20 to anyone willing to pick them up for me and ship them my way (I would pay for shipping as well of course). Thanks for any help!

Am planning on it. I just had to do some heavy duty cleaning here at my house and now can hopefully get back into buying some more games BTW, I noticed this auction on eBay from September (just a month before I got into the Colecovision). Did I miss a great deal here? It seems people want almost $300 for a boxed copy of Slurpy usually: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COLECOVISION-SLURPY-XONOX-COLECO-VISION-COMPLETE-1984-RARE-/171923032320?hash=item2807694900%3Ag%3AC7cAAOSw0JpV7PSs&nma=true&si=OeGoTaOPphqEsa1rbd4JehzBgr0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Being new to the Colecovision, I am not sure what goes for what, but this one caught my eye since it's rated an R9 - boxed in a Rarity List I use.

I just started collecting Colecovision games, and I would love to do a bulk buy of CIB Colecovision games to get my collection going. I only have Donkey Kong Jr, Zaxxon, and Venture right now (and of course Donkey Kong). I am interested in everything else. If anyone has a lot of CIB Colecovision games, I am most likely interested. Thanks!

Colecovision accepted. Thanks Mumbai!

I just recently bought a nice boxed Colecovision unit off of eBay with box for a decent price, but it turns out it does not function. I was wondering if anyone out there has a working Colecovision unit for sale? Need a working one to play the games I bought with it Thanks !

What's neat is, if you look at the cover for that issue you'll notice some neat games, like Astrochase by Parker Brothers. Also you'll notice the manual for Star Trek was a 3rd party Sega version, like the ones they put out for other systems. The TI one had a purple stripe in that picture that said "For use on the Texas Instruments 99/4A Home Computer". This is what piqued my interest initially since I thought these were of games for other systems, until I read the small print (you have to look closely). It might have been that Sega was going to produce their games as a 3rd party until TI brought out the GROM. It's a cover worth examining. Remeber, July 1983 was before Atarisoft or Parker Brothers released anything for the TI to the public, even though you can see the manuals for the games on this cover. I'd like to know what the 100 dollar image is from under the Pac-Man manual on the top right... ftp://ftp.whtech.com./magazines/enthusiast99/E99-0783.pdf
