  1. Do you want me to count that top 10 in the order you´ve wrote it, or will you change it? I´ll wait a bit before updating
  2. It´s been almost a month already since the last vote. Come on, I know there´s people out there who have not voted for their favourite games!
  3. The guy hasn´t appeared in 10 days, so I might get nothing at all in the end...
  4. I´ve already tried them, but I just don´t know what to get. This is one of those cases where all of the games are fun, and it seems that whatever you choose, you´ll be right. But then, you´ll wonder if you couldn´t have chose one of the other games
  5. Ok guys, some news. I bought Klax, complete, from a store. Also, the guy thinks he has Blue Lightning and Xenophobe, but he has to find it. So, I´m back to start, here´s the new list: Getting for sure: -Shangai -California Games -Paperboy Need to choose 4 games from these -Rygar (with manual, does it really have 100 levels? Isn´t that too long?) -Checkered Flag -Bill and Ted´s Excelent Adventure (with manual) -APB -Zarlor Mercenary -Robo Squash -Gaunlet (with manual) -Xenophobe (with manual) I think I´ll ditch Checkered Flag (again, i don´t like racing games too much) and Robosquash (seems fun, but other games seem better)
  6. I´d like to have a game so sophisticated for the Lynx, but I don´t know if it´s still available to buy at Duranik. Anyone bought the game from there? Any comments?
  7. Updated. This is getting pretty interesting. Coincidentally, I have 4 of the first 5 games BTW, anyone that has voted (or hasn´t yet) can vote for the 5 best multiplayer games.
  8. That´s a great idea, considering one of the main qualities about the Lynx was the multiplayer games. However, As I suposse not everyone could play it, it will only be a top 5-10 list. Updated up to jimid2. I´m doing an Excel sheet to keep the updates. Here´s some interesting facts: -10 people have voted so far -The games that most people have included on their lists are: Klax (7), Stun Runner (6), Chip´s Challenge, Shangai and Xybots (5) -The games that have received more votes per user (with at least 3 votes) are: Todd´s Adventures in Slime World (9 points/user) Chip´s Challenge (7,6 points/user) Rampart (7 points/user) Stun Runner (6,6 points/user) Shangai (5,5 points/user) -There are only 2 games that have received 2 first place votes: Slime World and Lemmings. Only one game has received 2 second place votes: Chip´s Challenge. And only 1 game has received 2 third place votes: Warbirds. -Only 2 games have received at least one first, second and third place vote: Chip´s Challenge and Stun Runner.
  9. Updated up to krupkaj. There´s been some movement at the top and lots of ties...
  10. Updated upt to atari2600land. If anyone wants to vote for the last 5 games on their lists, let me know. BTW, it´s Xybots that good?
  11. I like reading reviews on my free time, and I found one that I specially liked for Todd´s Adventures in Slime World (I´m not going to put the link because I don´t know if I can do it). Here´s some parts: "There's a certain fun in being in on a secret. Knowing something that most people will never discover, feeling sorry that they missed out. (...) The Lynx was the creation of Epyx, one of the great classic game studios whose games should be required playing for everyone. In the late '80s, the designers of the Commodore Amiga set out to create the first color handheld, capable of displaying brilliant colors and amazing visual effects far beyond anything seen in a home console.(...) Epyx wrote six launch games, which are all excellent, and a few others later on; Epyx eventually faded away, but went out on a high note. Today, I want to highlight a personal favorite, Todd's Adventures in Slime World. This title perfectly captures both the charm of Epyx and the spark that made Lynx great. Here is a clever, imaginative game that literally oozes with curiosity and invention." I think it captures perfectly what the Lynx is. A great system, too advanced for its time, that has become a secret pleasure for everyone that has had the luck to play it. I specially like the Epyx part. All of the launch games were excellent, or at least, they were made with love, that love long gone in actual games. This leads me to a question: Which game do you really think that captures the "charm" the Lynx has?
  12. I agree, it´s a wonderful site that I visit every time the Atari bug bites me. But I´d like to do this anyway, it´s both fun and useful for the board.
  13. Is that way of playing really confortable? I´ve never played a game that plays like that, but I don´t know if it will be too akward. Also, how many games use this feature? I know of Klax, Gauntlet 3, NFL Football and Raiden. Are there any more?
  14. I already voted some time ago (when I got the Lynx some months ago, in fact) :-)
  15. Updated up to Video. Box scans for the first 5 games added. If you have any suggestion for the format, please tell me. Keep those votes coming! :-)
  16. That was the game I was thinking today but couldn´t remember. A Ninja Nerd! Could there be a more awesome character? Atari had some market genius!
  17. Updated Inky, you can add the other 6 games when you want, ok?
  18. What´s up with Atari and the nerds? You can find them in multiple Lynx games! There´s one in Basketbrawl (he prefers homework to basketball), one in Gauntlet (Woah!), and of course the main character in Chip´s Challenge.
  19. Yes, you know the deal. You vote for your 10 favourite games, the first one gets 10 points, the second one gets 9 points... The Lynx doesn´t have too many games, so we´ll keep the list at 25 games. I know that "best game" lists have been done before, and there was a poll a while ago on the best games. But this time, I´m not closing this. The lynx board is somewhat slow, so this will be opened forever (if the mods don´t delete it or the world ends, of course ) I hope you don´t find this idea too repetitive, because it can be, both fun, and a good thread to see which ones are the true Lynx must-have games! As time passes by, I´ll try to add links to the best games, and maybe even box scans of the first 5 games on the list, that way it will be more entertaining to see. -This is my list (I´ve tried some of them on an emulator, but I think I can have a fair opinion on most of them) 1- Todds Adventures in Slime World (It´s amazing how many depth this game has, and how polished it is) 2-Chip´s Challenge (150 stages of great puzzle games? Plus, you get to control a nerd in search for love!) 3-Stun Runner (Not as smooth as I wanted, but great nonetheless) 4-Shangai (tried it on emulator, I couldn´t keep my eyes out of the game for a while. Great atmoshpere too!) 5-Awesome Golf (3 courses, 54 holes, practice mode...) 6-Pac-Land (simple, but addictive and colorful) 7-APB (hilarious) 8-Paperboy (I love the arcade, and this one seems just as good) 9-Ms Pac-Man (the classic, now with more mazes and features) 10-California Games (just because it shows of what the Lynx could do, and it´s a classic too.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SINGLE PLAYER LIST 1-Chip´s Challenge (61 points) 2-Klax(54 points) 3-Todd´s Adventures in Slime World (53 points) 4-Stun Runner (45 points) 4-Shangai(45 points) 6-Xybots (35 points) 7-California Games (30 points) 7-Rygar(30 points) 9-Warbirds (26 points) 10-Ms Pac-Man(25 points) 11-Lemmings (24 points) 12-Blue Lightning (22 points) 13-Rampart (21 points) 14-Scrapyard Dog (19 points) 14-Zarlor Mercenary(19 points) 16-Xenophobe (18 points) 17-Checkered Flag (16 points) 18-Qix (14 points) 18-Battlewheels (14 points) 19-Pac-Land (13 points) 19-Steel Talons (13 points) 22-Shadow of the Beast (12 points) 22-Paperboy (12 points) 22-Crystal Mines 2 (12 points) 25-APB (11 points) 25-Roadblasters (11 points) ---------------------------------------------- Out of list (games with at least one point) -Toki -Pinball Jam -Dirty Larry: Renegade Cop -Gauntlet: the Third Encounter -Robotron 2084 -Alpine Games -Double Dragon -Bill and Ted´s Excelent Adventure -Gates of Zendocon -Super Skweek -Turbo Sub -Electrocop -Hard Drivin -Awesome Golf -Battlezone 2000 -Dracula the Undead --------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------- Out of list (games with zero points) -Baseball Heroes -Basketbrawl -Batman Returns -BLockout -Desert Strike -Dynolimpics -European Soccer Challenge -Fidelity Ultimate Chess Challenge -Gordo 106 -Hockey -Hydra -Ishido: the Way of the Stones -Jimmy Connors Tennis -Joust -Kung Food -Lynx Casino -Malibu Beach Volleyball -NFL Football -Ninja Gaiden -Ninja Gaiden 3 -Pit Fighter -Power Factor -Rampage -Robosquash -Super Asteroids and Missile Command -Switchblade 2 -Tournament Cyberball -Viking Child -World Class Soccer ---------------------------------------------------
  20. Thanks for all of the replies. Well, I´ll get California Games (the "killer-app" for the Lynx, right?), Shangai (I like the game, and it seems every review gives it a good score), Paperboy (don´t have any version, and it seems the Lynx one is one of the best). I´ll ditch Checkered Flag (I don´t like car games, I doubt I´d ever play it), Rygar (Too long and repetitive for my tastes) and Gates of Zendocon (again, I´m not a fan of shoot´em-ups.) I have to choose only 2 now from these ones: * Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (with manual) * Klax (with manual) * A.P.B * Robo Squash * Gauntlet My collection would be as follows: 2 puzzle games (Chip´s Challenge and Shangai), 1 sports game (California Games), 3 Arcade games (Pac-Land, Stun Runner and Paperboy), and an adventure game (Slime World).
  21. There´s a guy selling some Lynx games. After some time, I´ve decided to expand my Lynx collection collection. Which one of these games should I buy? (no more than 4-5) * Paperboy * Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (with manual) * Rygar (with manual) * Klax (with manual) * Shangai (with manual) * A.P.B * Zarlor Mercenary * Checkered Flag * Robo Squash * Gauntlet * California Games (with manual)
  22. Is Gunpey really that bad? I´ve only heard negative comments about it.
  23. Still, that´s a good question: are the rare games in Europe the same as the USA ones? Lemmings is a good example of this.
  24. Thanks for your comments. I´ve added them to the first post. I agree, those logs are just not fun at all. It´s just frustrating to loose 2-3 lives on them when you were doing a good playtrough.
  25. If you want me to update the first post, just tell me, I check this topic from time to time (1-2 times a week). If you could just copy the most recently posted top-50 list to the first post that'd be great. Ok, first post edited. 50 normal games, and full list of homebrew and Supercharger games.
