Art of Atari - book in progress and need help
Trooper Galactus replied to lapetino's topic in Atari 2600
I always appreciated the more understated art which used limited palettes. In particular, Grand Prix, Boxing, Barnstorming, Ice Hockey, Kaboom!, Pitfall, Skiing, Sky Jinks, Tennis, and the like. A simple drawing of what a screenshot would look like, add in some rainbows, and you have a unique look for the ages. Edit: 100 posts! -
Only have a little over 100 2600 games, but my faves: 1-Warlords 2-Decathalon 3-Combat 4-River Raid 5-California Games 6-Vanguard 7-Haunted House 8-Raiders of the Lost Ark 9-Pitfall 10-Bowling Most of my favorites are ones I played with my brother as a kid. Fond memories to this day and the reason I own a Warlords cabinet!

Is this game any good? Considering picking it up.

Late to the party, but I'd totally be in on this!

Just put my name on the mailing list. Way late to this party but it's worth a shot! -
Translucent RED Jaguar Console Shells - ORDER NOW
Trooper Galactus replied to Parrothead's topic in Atari Jaguar
Holy crud, that looks terrible. -
Hope that's the case. Would love to give this game another (world) go!
-
Meh, I've only seen it on auction a couple times, and went well out of my budget on both occasions. Not in any rush to get it.

Like a roller coaster or something you lay a drink on?
-
Nice job. First thing I thought when I saw the title was to go play Stinkoman 20XX.
-
And apparently I am #262 on the list. Hoping they don't cancel it all before getting to me!

Oh yeah, with my limited collection those days I was pretty much stuck mastering whatever games I was lucky enough to have on my shelf. When I picked up a copy of Fatal Fury for SNES recently, I couldn't believe there was a time I actually mastered that game on the hardest difficulty.

I think just having an opportunity to play Battlesphere at all must be one hell of an experience given its rarity.

Admittedly the family friendliness of the SNES was a bit frustrating when looking at games like Mortal Kombat, but the system just had so many all-time, undisputed great games. Almost any top-25 list of games is bound to have Legend of Zelda-A Link to the Past, Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy III, and possibly even Donkey Kong Country. It's one of the few systems of almost any era where you could randomly pick any game off the shelf and wind up with something at least modestly enjoyable. I have every major console of that generation and, hands down, the SNES library grades out the best in my eyes.

Duly noted, thanks for the tip! ...just the tip.

Duly noted. Can't wait to give it a try!

Wow, any left or current pics? I might have been interested in one had I noticed!

I've seen Skyhammer available from multiple sources consistently listed at $90 CIB. Is the game worth the investment? I'll probably get around to it eventually, but not sure if I should prioritize it more.
-
Hell with it...just put treads on it, a turret on top, and make it a tank game.
-
I've seen the YouTube walkthroughs. Still looks insanely hard.
-
I received mine about a month after ordering.
-
Good god, I had about forgotten about this classic! Make it happen! I should find the 2600 version while I'm at it...conspicuously absent from my collection!

It makes sense, really. Raiden was a big success in the arcades and had ready-made name recognition in the market. Also, Raiden II was in arcades by 1994, so proliferation of the series was probably considered good for business. Agree with Schmudde, you REALLY should check out Shinto's podcast, and not just for Raiden.
