  1. Would a game than spans multiple carts be too much? I was thinking that it might be cool to extend a game out that far. I know it would only sell on two premises. 1.The game is kick ass 2.The game is cheap. So if this is a possibility would anyone be interested in something like that?

  2. Pretty much. I couldn't think of the name of the board game that is why i did not mention it before. I thought it would be better to add something more to it though. That is why I was asking everyone's opinion to see if it would be any point in making it.

  3. I guess I did not explain it fully. Let me give it another try. The game will have different levels of play.

Easy - 4 shapes per row, 2 rows, 30 seconds time limit

Medium - 5 shapes per row, 3 rows, 40 seconds time limit

Hard - 6/7 shapes per row, 4 rows, 50 seconds time limit

With each level the total number of shapes in a level may change, say 5 in easy, 7 in medium, and 10 in hard. This will make it more difficult when you are trying to select the proper fill. The game is not a puzzle game in the sense of figuring it out, but it is a puzzle game in a race against the clock. I hope this explains it better.

  4. I recently thought of an idea for a homebrew game and I wanted to get your opinion on if it would be fun or not. I also wanted to see if maybe someone has created the game, or something similar to it, allready. The tentative name is SHAPES! It is a puzzle game where you must select the proper shape to fill in the center of the shape shown.

    Controls:

Fire Button - Places shape in center

Up / Down - Changes your choice of shape to fill the center

Left / Right - Moves the focus to the shape on the left or right

Take a look at the mockup screenshot below. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

  5. I opened my copy of Star Wars Empire Strikes Back and had allready looked at the size of it. It has the shield on it or as I like to call it the Force. The cartridges would have to be about a half inch bigger all around. This would still keep them smaller than the real 2600 cartridges.

  6. What about creating a smaller case for the Atari Games. I am looking into doing this for my portable Atari unit using Gameboy Game Cases. I am also looking into modifying a Game Shark to load the smaller gamer. This would allow you to use both.

  7. I plan on looking into what is required ot make a small Atari board. I may do the chop and dice method that Ben Heckendorn uses. I will just keep in mind what kind of designs are best to understand how small I have to make the unit. I was reading on Ben's site and I noticed that he mentioned something on there about the Phoenix, so I am looking for a new title for the portable. I am open to suggestions.

  8. I plan to do both. Create a few games and design a portable Atari 2600. I will have some time off for a few weeks so I will be working on a game. As far as the portable Atari I will be designing that frequently also. I am thinking about calling it Phoenix. How does that sound? As far as the competition there isn't really any. Some people sell there's for$300 or $400, and then others promise systems, but never deliver. I would like to change all that.

  9. Not another portable Atari 2600!!! :x Oh yes, I too would like to create one. :D If you would like to then please answer these following questions.

    1. Sega GameGear Design (Horizontal)?/ Nintendo GameBoy Design(Vertical)?

    2. Top load game (Nintendo Gameboy)/ push up to load(flip game over when compared to gameboy)?

    3. Screw on controls for d-pad, joystick, paddle controls?

If I can do this then I would like to shoot for a price rang no higher than $260. Let me know what you all think.

  10. The Matrix: Ataried

You play the role of Neo. You must fight off all of the Mr. Smiths. Your eventual goal undetermined.

    Inspector Gadget

You control Inspector Gadget and must move him across the screen beating up the bad guys that Dr. Claw sent after him. You must pick up the clues that you see along the way. The clues do not serve a purpose except for points. The level scrolls just like Moon Patrol, and it is also timed. You must get through the levels before time runs out or Dr. Claws plan will be successful.

Tell me what you think of those ideas. Once I can learn assembler I will try to work on them. Everything that I want to appear in the games may not be possible.

  11. I am not sure if anyone ever posted this(if you did then I am sorry,) but isn't this year the 26th birthday of Atari 2600? October 1977 as the record books say. Should we do something special next year as celebration?
