  1. I really shouldn't try to design robots in Fallout 4. But hell, it's fun!

  2. It's been an epiphany of sorts for me, seeing how far gaming has come but that old pull for the "good old days" of gaming, such as arcades and the Atari 2600/Intellivision/Colecovision/DOS PC gaming is still there. Sorry..reminiscing again.
  3. It's funny you should mention "modern gaming". How much simpler things were 20 to 30 years ago versus gaming these days. Don't misunderstand me, however. I love the look and feel of games with high-quality graphics and game play, but I have to admit I miss the simple "plug it in then start playing" days. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
  4. Fallout 4 has gotten my complete, undivided attention now. Curse you, Bethesda!

I'll probably get the PS4.5 in 2017 and play it on that. It should come with the extra content by then.

  5. Okay, so I just picked this up last night and I have to say best $30 I've spent on a video game. Of course I suck at it, but I'm having a great time despite my level of ineptitude at playing.
  6. I'm not sure if this was the plan when my den was redesigned, but the current model Xbox One fits perfectly on my shelf with room to spare with the controller, external power supply, and smart TV. I have another similarly-sized space for my Atari 2600.
  7. Diablo 3: Level 36 Mage on Act III. Electric/Arcane skillset. Disintigrate=dead monsters

  8. Well, I probably didn't get a very good "look" at it from the demo, which was short and sweet, but fun as hell (literally). Probably my perception of the game was colored from other reviews that stated this is a frag fest, pure and simple. I like the fact that there are elements of exploration in it as well. I think I'll have to get this game very shortly.
  9. Well, I still haven't purchased this game (yet), but really....I should take the plunge for August and just get the damn thing. I mean, it's Doom, it's fast, furious, and there's lots of carnage to be had. What's not to like?
  10. Maybe, just maybe, I can get some gaming in tonight...

  11. Last night was an Atari 2600 night: Pacman (yes, the original) Asteroids (always up for a game of this) Missile Command (just plain lovin' it) Scores (as was to be expected) were rather on the low side, but it was enjoyable, nonetheless.
  12. Yes, it certainly does. Sorry...should have clarified that.
  13. It could be said (as MotoRacer stated) that this game probably won't be re-played as many other titles over the years have been. However, to keep it fresh, I'm not going in every night to play, either. I have a LONG way to go in the game, and my other Xbone games need some attention, so Elite is shelved for now.
  14. More time devoted to Dead Space. This game really is addictive...and I'm glad it's backward compatible. I'm limited on space, so despite wanting to put my Xbox 360 out, I don't have the room for more than two, and my Atari 2600 isn't going anywhere.
  15. Seems the general consensus is folks around here aren't doing the "incremental upgrade" with Sony or Microsoft. I too, perish the thought, am getting "too old" for this and will most likely NOT buy another console in my lifetime, unless it's a retro console. Xbox One is as far as I go. Since my gaming habits ebb and flow, I'm fairly certain a rash of Atari 2600 games will need some attention shortly. Despite it's age, it's my system I look very fondly on.
  16. From my last play, I've been doing "data runs" and earning if not a load of money, enough to keep ahead and actually make a profit. Made a BIG newbie mistake and bought an Eagle but didn't check if the power plant could manage the loadout without tweaking the systems. Ended up interdicted, then had NO power to do anything except watch the NPC bad guy blow me to the farthest reaches of space as interstellar dust. Now I'm back in the beginning ship, have over 100,000 credits, and am thinking of possibly starting up a mining operation with the most basic of haulers. But, that being said, it's been a few days since I've logged in and played. No VR set up for this title, and I'm not certain I could invest that cash for it, anyway. I would imagine (as was said) that the VR gives it a whole new level of immersion that would make the game even better.
  17. Okay, folks. ED has been out for awhile now, and the expansions are there, so what do you think since you've played it awhile (any platform)? Does it still hold up to you, suck time away, or have you moved on? This game is absorbing, no doubt for me, anyway, and since it seems more stable than a few weeks ago, it's getting more attention again. I'm sure more will be done with this title in the future (more expansions, tweaked game play, etc.), but are you or will you continue to play it?
  18. I recently played the demo and although short, was enjoyable. I had to remind myself this is NOT a "take time out and explore" game, but a "run n' gun" game, which was absolutely FUN. I might have to get this game for my Xbox One in a month or so....there are a few other games coming in the Fall that I want more, but this one is on my list.
  19. no gold account (yet), but my gamertag is Trekkie66 (Xbone). If you want to chat on there, just gimme a hollar.
  20. I most likely won't see holographic gaming in my lifetime, but damn, that would be something! The VR scene is, as cybercylon said, is most likely going to be with us now in one form or another. I'm still excited about my Xbox One.
  21. Yeah, that's it. I had something similar for my Xbox 360. I like the way this looks.
  22. Yes, it's time. But it's going to have to wait until later on this month...spent too much on games already! but I really need to invest in this..overall it seems to manage the power consumption better than my Xbox 360. Anyone else notice this?
  23. Whoops. Happy post-4th of July!

  24. Well, quick follow-up regarding Elite: Dangerous. Seems to be playing much better and is more stable now. Actually had a wonderful session the other night and stayed online with nary a hiccup. Not sure if the last update fixed some issues, but I'm not complaining. Since everything IS plugged into a power strip, the energy saver mode seems most practical for me, anyway. Sometimes LIVE takes a few moments to kick in, but other than that, seems to be running great. No problems at all, except I'm starting to run out of space (40% used as of this text). I think I need to invest in an exterior hard drive soon, and a recharge dock. Eating AA batteries like no tomorrow.
  25. Yes, you will be confused. But DS Dude is gone away. This name (and my original name was Wolfpaw66 way back when) is from the Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever series of books. If you haven't read them, you should.

I wasn't meaning to. Do I get a free homebrew game for my Atari 2600 for that?

My original user name was "AtariAge Smells Like Unwashed Taint", but Albert made me change it.
