  1. A quick note regarding the last post here. Raider of the Lost Ark is a great game, but when I attempted to play my copy, nothing was happening. "Strange", I said to myself, then printed out the manual from the HTML site. Oh, I thought, you needed the RIGHT joystick plugged in as well!! Duh! LOL....just thought I'd share that with you.
  2. Those are good ideas about designing your own. Thanks to Atarian75, the old Atari catalog had some neat storage devices of the time, the ones where you press on top of the case to release the game from it's holder. Now, does anyone have one of these classic relics from the past? Those would be an ideal find. I was also thinking a regular cassette storage case would work, but I'm not sure. Any thoughts?
  3. RangerG, that's a great idea! I was wondering something like that myself, as several games I have don't have the instructions to them, so I need to refer back to the site for help.

    Nice find!

Wow, what a find! I'm almost certain you couldn't locate anything like that around where I live. I envy you, the joy you must have felt at seeing an Atari 2600 wrapped and boxed. Ahhh, the good old days when you saw them stacked on the shelves of your local store.....snif. lol.. Steve
  5. Scott, we all know how you feel. You're not the only one, as much as I've said that we need to push beyond this, it's still way too early. I share your grief, remorse, and pain at what's happened. I'm also available to email if you need to talk some things out. I've been irritable, depressed, and downright shaken to my foundation with this, so you're NOT alone. The key is talking to others, other human beings. Share yourself with them, don't hold this in! Go to someone you trust. Share it with someone who understands you, Scott. Talk out your feeling with others. You'd be surprised how much everyone, from coast to coast, feels exactly the way you do, in one level or another.
  6. To close this out, I have received my stuff back and am once again happily playing Space Invaders and Berserk, plus all my other games. Now, I just need some paddles. lol...
  7. My thanks for all the answers you've provided! Most helpful and I can NAME it as well. Good news, too. I've got my AC adapter back and RF switch. Space Invaders and me will NEVER be parted again!
  8. Hello, all. It's me again, posing a question to anyone that can help. My Atari is a black front design, where normally the old woodgrain would be, with VCS across the top part, near the cartridge slot. My question is: When was this unit produced? And, is the woodgrain the most common, or the black like I have? Thanks for your help.
  9. I haven't received a copy of an email, either. Now, how CAN you get a copy of this, or is it still just no available? Thanks, all.
  10. Some more thoughts on this, even though this isn't the place in the boards for it. As a country, we're united and will be for a long time to come. I've never seen this country pull together like this, with so much love, hope, and prayer. I'm in total awe of the unity right now, all across the USA. As someone said, if you let the terrorists demoralize us, they've won. By continuing our lives, we've shown them we can't be beaten. Just my thoughts.
  11. Flash update! He didn't drop them off! ARGH! LOL! Can't believe how much I want my stuff back to the point to pulling my own hair out! I'll let you all know when I'm happily playing Berserk again on my 2600.
  12. Osbo, we know how you feel, like many of us. Give yourself a break for awhile, we'll still be here. Not much you can do regarding things right now, and as much as this sounds cruel....life goes on. You have to keep doing things normally at some point. Just my two cents.
  13. I'd have to say Combat (of course) and Wizards of Wor from CBS games. That game seemed to have something to it that had me hooked for hours with a buddy, blasting aliens in a maze. More often than not, I'd die and leave my buddy to fend for himself. lol...
  14. Hey, AtariInvader! I sent you an email if you think I can help you out. I can offer to write some reviews for you. Write me back.
  15. Actually, I do remember the letter, and that's the first I've heard mention of it in a loooong time. Please try to scan it in and post it so we can all see it. Be great to feel like Captain Atari's welcoming me to the club again.
  16. All I can say is...WOW! That's a great shot of your collection. I'm very envious. Compared to what I have at the moment, you might as well not even count mine! LOL! At some point, I'll put my collection up for all to view as well, but I'm rather embarrased at this point to do so. Once again, excellent pic of your cartridges. You're a true Atari collector.
  17. Yes, but it's good to know that those options are out there, if I need them. I think my friend is going to drop them off this Saturday. Thanks, though for the heads up. In case he doesn't follow through, I'll know where to go and what my options are.
  18. Thanks, Zero. So far that looks like the place to go to get "replacement parts" for it. I appreciate the advice. Now...does anyone know where I could get some paddles? I don't have mine anymore.
  19. Hey all. Forgive me for a minute while I rant.....well, I now have my Atari 2600 back and the games that came with it. Also, a friend of mine let me have some extra games that I didn't collect earlier, so everything's looking good so far. Now, to my dilemma. I have no adapter, RF switch, or converter for new televisions! ARGH! Seems that when my friend returned it, he forgot to give me another bag containing the stuff I just mentioned. Yes, the Atari looks good displayed with it's games, but what if I wanted to PLAY it???? Anyone know, in case he NEVER gives those items back to me, where I can purchase the adapter, RF switch, and converter plug? And if not an Atari adapter, which one(s) will work with the system? Thanks all, now back to our regular programming....
  20. Well, that'll sure sell that system! Gawd, I wouldn't buy that heap simply because of the way it's presented. Sure, it might work and all, but damn! Anyway, it's amazing what pics people will do, without thinking how it looks to others. Personally, I'd frame it nice against something else to have more appeal to a potential buyer. Well, just my two cents on the shot. And as far as someone taking pics of their Atari system in a bathroom........that's just not right!
  21. Funny how you should mention weight...a quick story. I once had just about everything on one shelf in my room. Well, as the saying goes, I put the straw on that broke the camel's back, and down it all came in one big CRASH! Now, this wasn't Atari stuff, but some other heavy junk I should have known better than to put on a flimsy shelf. Some of my Star Trek collection ended up heading to the trash bin, broken beyond recognition. The one good thing out of all this is: I learned my lesson.
  22. Thanks for the heads up on that one! He also told me that he mixed up the bags, and found the missing Atari stuff. I should get it back in about a week. Sigh, at least I put it on display now! Things are okay now that it's back in my posession.
  23. Hi, all. Quick post...I got my Atari 2600 back from the person I let borrow it (foolishly, I might add) and I noticed that I had no power adapter, RF switch, or converter plug (the one that let's you hook the RF switch to a newer, cable-ready TV)!! So, yes, I have the system back, but no, I cannot play it! Hopefully, he still has these items and I can get them back, but if he doesn't....suggestions for obtaining them? Would Radio Shack have them? Thanks for your help, people.
  24. Randy, you're not the only one without Combat!! I just got my system back from a friend, and thought that I had it. Nope...no Combat in site. I have ALOT of collecting to do! I'm missing several games (like Yar's Revenge, Superman, Berserk, Phoenix, argh!!) not to mention the one almost everyone seems to have, Combat!!
