I don't get it, why are you posting this? How would any of us know who is in the right here? How would we ever know if this buyer tried to resolve things first or if this seller is a liar? I just don't know what the point of this is unless you are the seller.
-
Nope. At least not in that condition.
-
It all depends on the condition of the box and the authenticity of the seal. Since the box was just glued shut, I have seen plenty that have been reglued over the years and resold on Ebay. I have seen mint sealed ones go for upwards of several hundred dollars to as much as $500 as of the last year or so. Pictures would be very helpful as there are promo box versions and refurb versions out there that go for more or less.

FS: 2600 Activision Decathlon sealed
bojay1997 replied to Chris-in-NJ's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
The last few I have seen sealed mint have gone for under $20 each on Ebay. I know Atari2600.com has had copies for a while for $10, although they tend to be slightly dinged or dented and it's the later 7800 compatible sticker version (although I believe there was only one run of this cartridge, with the 7800 box stickers just being added when the stock was dumped during the 7800 era). In any event, I would encourage you to open it as it's not super valuable, there are plenty out there and the game is really quite fun. . . -
FS: 2600 Activision Decathlon sealed
bojay1997 replied to Chris-in-NJ's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I've actually come across a couple of such stores over the past few years and sadly, just regular indoor lighting will fade most boxes in a few years, not to mention normal shelf wear, dust, grime, etc...It's hard to tell from the photo if this game has lightfading, although just moving the glove sticker will be an easy way to determine that as there will be a different color under the sticker. I've had dreams like that where old Atari games and toys are just sitting on the shelf of some drugstore that hasn't changed it's look since it was built in 1968. Awesome. They probably didn't know that you could return unsold stock for store credit or they just figured that someone eventualyl would buy it! Still just superb. -
Value of Mario Bros. (7800) sextupled in 3 days
bojay1997 replied to Andre81's topic in Auction Central
I don't think many sealed collectors collect 7800 and even fewer have an interest in VGA graded 7800. Not only that, but this particular copy has some pretty significant box damage, so I don't think it would grade all that well. -

bojay1997 replied to Andre81's topic in Auction Central
While this is clearly ridiculous, it also hasn't sold for that much and likely never will. All this guy did is pay too much in the original auction and now he has put it up for a price he will never get. Sadly, this happens more and more on Ebay, although it used to be mainly isolated to NES stuff. As for your second comment, you already overpay (at least based on your previous posts here bragging about some of the overpriced stuff you have won lately) for most of what you're buying on Ebay by a wide margin, so in a sense, you are investing in video games, albeit at a level that will see you losing most of your investment when you go to sell someday. -
If you don't mind me asking, what makes you think it's new? Clearly it has been removed from the box and the twist ties undone. Are you sure it wasn't a store return or defective unit?

Interest/Price Check: Original Atari PONG C-100 in Box (PICS)
bojay1997 replied to Cobradvs's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Atari Pong was actually released after the Telegames version. In any event a mint NIB one sold for $150 on Ebay not too long ago. In the poor shape the one pictured is in it is worth maybe $25-$40 if you find the right buyer. -
I have a NIB Falcon 030 with 4M for sale
bojay1997 replied to topaz777's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
First of all, I'm guessing you're a little slow or perhaps you have some type of mental issue, so I will try and explain this on a level you can hopefully understand. There is no "culture of abuse" on these forums. In fact, this is one of the most supportive and positive forums I have ever been a part of. Having said that, when someone shows up here for the sole purpose of selling a relatively expensive item, people respond with skepticism and caution. The reasons for that are obvious. Just as the Internet provides a wonderful tool for bringing people with like interests together, it is also ripe for fraud and deception. Turning to your biography, it has no relevance that you are in the military. The vast majority of the men and women who serve in our military are honest and hard working, just like people on this forum and everywhere in this country. There are also some individuals in the military who do dishonest things or commit crimes, just like in the rest of society. Your military background is completely irrelevant to this discussion and you shouldn't have brought it up. As for your A+ certification, it is similarly irrelevant. Many of us have installed hard drives or done other minor work to computers. All it takes it the ability to follow simple instructions. Your A+ certification has nothing to do with whether or not the installation was done properly. It certainly has nothing to do with the condition of the computer. Contrary to your assertions, you opened the computer and used it for 5-6 hours. As such it is no longer NIB nor is it NOS. It is probably "like new" or in "excellent" condition, but it has been used at this point and is no longer in factory condition since it has been modified. In addition, leaving a computer unused for over a decade could lead to problems down the road. Drive belts dry out and become weak, plastic decays and lubricants dry up or become ineffective. In short, a lack of use can also cause damage to a computer which may not be obvious right now, but which might be a problem for the subsequent owner. .The fact that you don't have a Paypal account is interesting because it makes your OP about possibly selling on Ebay at best an empty threat and at worst an outright lie. Ebay requires sellers to accept Paypal with some very narrow exceptions. I suppose you could drop the computer off at one of those Ebay sales places, but I'm guessing that's not what you were planning to do. The fact that you own or have owned other rare Atari hardware is completely irrelevant to this discussion. You simply bought it from someone. You didn't track it down or otherwise save it from being destroyed. Lots of us own rare items, all it takes is money in most cases. I'm sorry, but your OP and your subsequent posts make it clear that there is something very wrong with you. Other forum members are free to respond as they wish to your sales solicitation, but just based on your contributions to date, I would recommend staying far, far away from you. . -
How to tell if a 2600 game is truly sealed?
bojay1997 replied to knightrider_82's topic in Atari 2600
I think we can all agree that there were some retailers and probably distributors that applied their own shrinkwrap to the games once they received them from Atari and other companies. Certainly, I'm sure when games were being sold for pennies on the dollar in giant dump bins at different stores, they were probably wrapped to deter theft. Unfortunately, that doesn't really answer the OPs question other than the fact that some of us have purchased these games in sealed manufacturers cases in the past and found that they either had no factory wrap or different wrap patterns than the ones he has. -

bojay1997 replied to topaz777's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I really can't believe anyone is taking this guy seriously. Between his arrogant tone (yes, just because you have some random certification, anything you touch is still NOS regardless of what you do to it. Give me a break. Also, I don't know too many people who serve in the military that brag about what they do or what training they are undergoing and I'm someone that comes from a large Army/Navy family with several pilots and surface line officers.) and the fact that he tried to sell the same item over 10 years ago and it has basically been sitting unused since that time, I can't imagine that it's worth risking anything on this. Of course, if you really want it, you have to wait several weeks and call him and possibly buy a bunch of other crap you have no interest in. Did I miss anything?. -
How to tell if a 2600 game is truly sealed?
bojay1997 replied to knightrider_82's topic in Atari 2600
WTF? They were not sealed, they were hung up by the tabs built into the box. Do you not have one single Tigervision box like that? I at one point had several sealed cases of Marauder and I can confirm that it was shipped to retailers without any shrink-wrap. I would guess most of the other Tigervision games had no factory wrap either. That Beamrider doesn't look legit. It looks like someone tried to do a NES like seal on it going the wrong way. I have seen some sealed Activision 1983/1984 era games fresh out of the case (although they were for the C64) and they have a very plain seal with a single line on the top and bottom flaps and ether a smooth back or an overlap on the back of the box. -
I don't know, it looked pretty generic to me (actually, come to think of it, the Genesis kiosk also looked really generic with the vaguely silver/grey plastic and chrome design) and I'm not sure why they chose orange and dark blue as other than the possible Sonic reference on the blue, orange certainly wasn't anything Sega used to promote or brand the Saturn. Don't get me wrong, I love the Saturn, but other than one video store that converted it to something else, I don't really even remember seeing the Saturn kiosk at most retailers. In fact, most of the big box retailers around Southern California like Best Buy and EB Games at the time had their own generic multi-purpose kiosks and didn't even use the official ones. I did get a NOS Dreamcast kiosk because it was small and I love the robot like design and the fact that the orange and other color choices seemed like they were part of the whole Dreamcast design scheme.
-
Kiosks are always tough to estimate a price on. So much of it depends on how portable they are and how much space they take up. I know Game Dude in Los Angeles had several of these NOS in the shipping crates in the early 2000s and it took them a while to sell them at a few hundred if I recall correctly and those came with everything. I didn't end up buying one because it was larger than most arcade games I own and I just didn't have the space and couldn't justify the effort to get something that was so impractical and frankly not super attractive.

interesting eBay auctions, March/April/May/June 2012
bojay1997 replied to Zwackery's topic in Auction Central
I'm not sure why you posted in this thread. It's about interesting auctions, not to list your recent purchases. All I see on your list are a lot of things you paid way too much for. I mean $100 each for two damaged copies of Intellivision He-man? $100 for a damaged copy of Kool Aid Man? For those prices the copies should have been perfect and it would still be too much. -

Strongly agree. I think this is really excellent. -
Warlords/Yar's Store Display Hanger's FS (BACK IN CLOSET)
bojay1997 replied to SILKIE's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Yes, these are not store displays at all. They were basically sold at Hallmark type card shops as party/kids room decorations. As Zwackery pointed out, they very regularly show up on Ebay and rarely go for over $10 or so and in some cases, you can get an entire set for $20-$30. -
How long do you wait until filing a non-paying bidder?
bojay1997 replied to Atarian7's topic in Auction Central
I'm sorry, but I have been on Ebay for 15 years now and I buy dozens of items a month and I have never received an unpaid item strike. Why would you bid on something and then refuse to pay for it? Buyers like that should be banned for good. -
Assuming he has the front, it's worth at least $500-$1000 based on the few I have seen sold. It looks to be in really clean shape. By the way, in doing a quick Google search, it looks like this guy was trying to sell the same unit two years ago, at least according to posts on KLOV. Maybe he wanted too much or changed his mind.
-
I agree with everything above. They have great customer service and always ship quickly and well padded. As some others have noted, however, if you're ordering anything that is CIB or sealed that doesn't have a grade of either 9 or 10, the chances are you may get boxes with dents, dings, crushing or deep creases and/or manuals and cart labels.that have wear. It's not meant as a criticism really, but I recall placing a large order a few years ago only to be disappointed with the quality of what I got. Since that time I have become a lot more selective and I ask tons of questions before I buy anything.

How Much Should I Auction Items For? Atari 130XE + Others
bojay1997 replied to meandmyrobot's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
The 130XEs go for roughly $100 - $125 on Ebay NOS. Best and B&C still sell them for $150 new in box so they really aren't hard to find new. The 1050 is roughly $100-$125 if it's really NOS and the printer is roughly $50 or so. -
Final Fight Capcom press kit - $50 shipped!
bojay1997 replied to Crazy Climber's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
It's been all over the place. When it first came out and appeared to be very limited, copies were going for $600+. For a while it was between $100 and $200 and now that the flippers have gone away and the supply has become less available, it's going for $200-$300. Ultimately, it's a neat item, but they clearly manufactured hundreds and hundreds of additional copies beyond what they initially claimed. -
Final Fight Capcom press kit - $50 shipped!
bojay1997 replied to Crazy Climber's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Doubtful. The fact that they included a can of hairspray which is unlikely to remain stable for many years and that the bulk of the kit is just the foam rubber barrel and a t-shirt with a couple of tokens and a tiny button makes it less than desireable for many collectors, especially since it's just a digital game. -
Final Fight Capcom press kit - $50 shipped!
bojay1997 replied to Crazy Climber's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Nope. As of Comic Con last year they were still selling that at their booth at a discount. I suspect their claim of 300 or being otherwise limited was pretty bogus as most such claims are with Capcom.
