  1. Actually, the DC only uses UP, DOWN & FIRE, so the joystick tester should work just fine. As you rotate the knob clockwise you should see this repeating pattern of lights: Down Down + Up Up Off Counter-clockwise will give the reverse repeating pattern: Off Up Up + Down Down At least that's how mine works. I also made one of these a couple years ago, out of an old Combat cart that lost its label.
  2. I think people posting stuff to craigslist are loosing their minds! $2000 Atari
  3. You didn't mention which OS or emulator your using. Some emulators will run the roms even if they are zipped. You could just select all of the zip files then extract them all to a temporary folder then use your OS's search function to find all the rom files (eg: *.nes) then move those files to your ROMs folder.

    $2000 Atari?

I did, and she insisted that she could sell it for that price because her cousin did. She was telling me how old it was and how it came out before the Nintendo and PlayStation. I was doing all I could to keep from laughing out loud, she's really convinced that she's gonna sell it for that price. Funny thing is, she probably will.

    $2000 Atari?

It's not a misprint, I called and a young girl answered and said that her cousin just sold one that only had Combat for $1800. I have no idea why she thinks it's worth 2k. In the lower left pic it looks as though the right front corner is broken.

    $2000 Atari?

Someone should snap this up in a hurry! Game system Atari - $2000 (Spokane) Here's a pic just in case the ad expires.
  7. Yup, those are basically the laserdisc roms. You're looking at downloading a couple of gigs, at least. A couple?? Try 13 gigs at least compressed! 38 gigs uncompressed! Good Luck! chdman - MAME Compressed Hunks of Data (CHD) manager 0.133 (Sep 25 2009) Input file: cliffhgr.chd Header Size: 108 bytes File Version: 4 Flags: NO_PARENT, READ_ONLY Compression: A/V Hunk Size: 380496 bytes Total Hunks: 101912 Logical size: 38,777,108,352 bytes SHA1: 4442995c824d7891a2a19c607bb3301d696fbdc8 Raw SHA1: 180db00cf2248222414c8f2e715dd037e6247db8 Metadata: Tag='AVAV' Length=76 FPS:59.940058 WIDTH:720 HEIGHT:262 INTERLACED:1 CHANNELS:2 S Metadata: Tag='AVLD' Length=1630592 ............................................................
  8. If you're looking for a good cable try using a subwoofer cable like these. Yes, you can replace the 2600 cable, just open the case unplug the old one and attach a new one, no soldering required.
  9. Welcome to AtariAge! The console is most likely a display model used in department stores such as K-Mart. I'm not an expert on the number stamps but it's probably a manufacturing date stamp which possibly means it was made in the 42nd week of '81, but that's just a guess.
  10. I prefer the real hardware myself, Heavy 6er! I like the Suncom Slick Stick & Tac-2 for joysticks, they just feel more sturdy. I was always impressed with the Slick Stick by how they used a Schrader Valve for the joystick shaft, simply ingenious! I don't have room to keep all of my systems hooked up at all times, so I usually just play a few quick games with Stella on my PC & Stelladaptor.
  11. Ok "Atari", of the 8 I have only 2 have date stamps. non-copyright = 321 copyright = 022 "Sears" non-copyright "64" = 371 copyright "66" = 082 & 501
  12. I have 8 picture label Asteroids carts. All of them have the copyright screen except 1 and it does have a date stamp on the end label. I did notice a slight variation in the main label though. The 7 carts that I have, that have the copyright screen, are the same as the one on the left and only one of them has a date stamp on the end label. The one on the right does not have a copyright screen. Notice the picture is slightly higher on the label and the picture seems to be shifted down. Notice the small asteroid in the lowest center part of the picture on the non-copyright cart is less visible. But, as usual, that doesn't mean every non-copyright cart is this way. I also have 4 Sears Asteroids carts with text labels, 2 have the "64" label, 2 have the "66" label. 1 of the "64" labels is a non-copyright cart that is date stamped on the end label, the other "64" does not have a date stamp. Both "66"s have date stamps and do have the copyright screen.
  13. I've had carts that have been opened before and didn't work, and I discovered that the circuit board had been placed upside-down.
  14. Right, the CriCut will only cut predesigned shapes, but the Pazzles claims to attach to your computer and allow custom shapes and sizes.
  15. It doesn't work with the ProSystem Emulator either.
  16. For all of you out there smashing cartridges for the fun of it, why don't you all get together and form a club and you can call yourselves: Atari cartridge Smashers Society, Having Our Laughs at Extremely Senseless acts.
  17. You should be proud! Stella has become (IMO) the emulator that others strive to be like. We all owe you a great deal of thanks for your hard work on this great project. Here's an idea I had recently for a new feature. Some of the 'Atari' releases, and maybe some others, had a game variation grid in their manuals. I thought it would be cool to have something like that in Stella also. Here's a mock-up screenshot to better explain the idea.
  18. If you start Stella, then click the 'Options' button at the bottom of the screen then click the 'Input Settings' button, that will give you a list of all the controls and you can also change those controls. The current manual is here: Stella Manual
  19. The strange thing is, the four roms: COLOURS.BIN SOUND.BIN tai01.bin temp2600.BIN are not accessible within the game itself, you have to start those in an external emulator like Stella or Z26 (that is, if you happen to find them). The average user wouldn't even know they're there.
  20. I think I may have seen that Centipede/Millipede emulator, I do remember a Gauntlet emulator long before MAME was around. The early days of emulation were definitely kool, you could impress your friends by actually playing arcade games on your PC. I just installed Win'95 using "Virtual PC", and the majority of files are dated 8/24/96.
  21. They must be some pretty good drinks, if you're gonna be out for a couple days! j/k No problem, take your time. Meanwhile I'm gonna work on the Atari Classics Evolved set to see if I can figure it out.
  22. Ok guys, I have one more Atari collection CD. It's "Atari 80 Classic Games In One" It has 5 roms that Stella doesn't seem to recognize during an audit. ROMs.zip Every other rom on the CD is recognized as good roms except 2 which are: Super Breakout (1982 - 1981) (Atari) [a].BIN SwordQuest - EarthWorld (1982) (Atari) [a].BIN which could be the source for those 2. I also have "Atari Classics Evolved" for the PSP but I can't seem to find those roms, their probably compressed or encoded using some technique that I'm not familiar with.
  23. Yes, they are all 16k. ActionPack3.zip Titlematch has the Absolute logo.
  24. I think I've found a source for the [a] version of Yars's Revenge. I just remembered that I have this: It has a 16k version of Yars' Revenge, I split that into 4-4k chunks and compared them to various other copies, the first 4k chunk is an exact copy of the [a] version, the other three chunks don't seem to match any of the other vesrions that are floating around. Attached is that 16k version from the CD.YARS.zip
