  1. By extract do you mean you dumped the disc? Not really, the PS2 version is just a DVD so I looked for the Demon Attack file on the disk. Found it in a folder named \CLASSICS\RPF1\ The file name is DEMONAT1.RPF, which contains all of the data for Demon Attack, box scans, manual scans, cart scans, rom image, etc. I just opened that file in a hex editor and looked for the rom image.
  2. Ok, you were right. I just extracted Demon Attack from the PS2 version of Activision Anthology, and guess what? It's exactly the same as the one I posted above. So, I imagine that all of the Imagic games that are labeled as Activision by Stella are actually from the Activision Anthology. That explains a lot!
  3. We were trying to figure out where these Activision roms came from. I tried either a blue label Moonsweeper or Atlantis IIRC, and it didn't have a Activision logo. I had a Demon Attack blue label, but the box was shrinkwrapped and I didn't want to break the seal. Maybe I'll break it in a few weeks time. Here are the dates on these Activision-Imagic rom dumps: Atlantis 2/18/1998 Demon Attack 2/19/1998 Moonsweeper 5/12/2003 So the question is were these done for the blue labels, or were they done for an Activision anthology (i.e. playstation release). Perhaps they were just hacks? If anyone has these actual blue label carts, I would like to know which logo (Activision or Imagic) is on the screen. In answer to your Stella question Buzbard, the Activison rom for Demon Attack is fixed. It just doesn't say that on the screen. I guess since there was no "glitched" version of the rom released for the Activision version it was redundant to say it is fixed. The other differences in that rom are the number fonts are different, and of course the Activision logo. Well, the Activision rom I have hangs after the 83rd wave, to test it, start it in Stella press F2 to reset the game then press ~ and change the value at address $be to 53 which is 83 decimal then click exit and play the level. This is the rom I have:Copy of Demon Attack (1988) (Activision).bin You may be right about it coming from the Playstation collection, I'll have to check that out. My Blue Moonsweeper also says Imagic insted of Activision.
  4. Any idea if the Blue Label Demon Attack is fixed or not? According to Stella the "Activision" version of Demon Attack (which I assume is the Blue Label version) is not fixed.
  5. Go to Amazon.com search for SD Card. I just saw SanDisk 4G cards for $5.90, you might be able to find some even cheaper. (4 gig is a little overkill though)
  6. All of these games use the Keypad/Kid's/Video Touch Pad controller: Basic Programming Brain Games Codebreaker Game of Concentration Hunt & Score Magicard Memory Match Synthcart Testcart Alpha Beam with Ernie Big Bird's Egg Catch Cookie Monster Munch Grover's Music Maker Holey Moley Monstercise Oscar's Trash Race Peek-a-Boo Star Raiders Synthcart, Testcart & Holey Moley are all homebrews. There may be more, that's just what I gleaned from the AtariAge database.
  7. Yes, Nestopia, although it hasn't been updated in almost 2 years, it's still the best. Oops, I take that back, there seems to be an unofficial update posted yesterday, version 1.41 On my way to check it out! Here's a link to the forum thread.
  8. It's done, hopefully I will have some to sell soon! ..Al If you're accepting pre-orders then sign me up!
  9. Thanks for the new pdfs batari and thanks to Dan for the scans. Awsome guys!
  10. Wow, I didn't know there was so much stuff on that CD I just thought it was the Starpath games on there. I was going to keep it sealed but I don't know, maybe I'll open it and check it out now. Thanks for the scans batari
  11. I also got the deluxe version, and I found that the Starpath roms were already loaded onto the SD card in a folder named "Starpath CD" both NTSC and PAL versions.
  12. Here's the manual: Yar's Revenge manual You might also read The Qotile Ultimatum, it's the comic that came with the game. Probably the only game I don't understand, even after reading the (um)manual? is Exocet

    Whatcodes work?

Those are Gameshark codes and they do work (sort of). Once you enter the codes into the Cheat List, click Ok then click the Cheat menu again and click Save Cheat List... It'll ask where you want to save the file. Save it, then make sure the cheats are enabled Then Reset the game (ctrl-r). When I said "sort of" above, I meant that all of the War Room maps are available, I'm not sure about the rest of them.

    MESS Help

Yeah, I don't think it will create folders, you have to do that yourself. And as for the documentation, it's here.
  15. I just tried both versions of Midnight Magic and neither one worked. So, I downgraded the BIOS to 103 and they both worked. They just don't work with 104.

    MESS Help

Ok, just to clarify, first close MESS if it's running. In the MESS folder you should have a folder named BIOS and one named SOFTWARE. Zipped Bios files go in the BIOS folder (obviously). The software folder should have sub-folders for each system; a2600 for Atari 2600 a5200 for Atari 5200 a7800 for Atari 7800 etc... Place your game roms into their appropriate sub-folders. In your MESS folder open the MESSUI.ini file in a text editor, scroll down until you see something like this: # # NAVIGATION JOYSTICK CODES # ui_joy_up 1,1,1,1 ui_joy_down 1,1,1,2 ui_joy_left 1,1,2,1 ui_joy_right 1,1,2,2 ui_joy_start 1,0,1,0 ui_joy_pgup 2,1,2,1 ui_joy_pgdwn 2,1,2,2 ui_joy_home 0,0,0,0 ui_joy_end 0,0,0,0 ui_joy_ss_change 2,0,3,0 ui_joy_history_up 2,0,4,0 ui_joy_history_down 2,0,1,0 ui_joy_exec 0,0,0,0 mess_column_widths 387,230,88,84,84,68,248,248 mess_column_order 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7 mess_column_shown "1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0" mess_sort_column 0 mess_sort_reversed 0 current_software_tab picker softwarepath software 3do_play_count 0 Make sure softwarepath is set to the software folder. You should also have a INI folder, open that folder then open the mess.ini file in a text editor, right at the top you should see this: <UNADORNED0> # # CORE CONFIGURATION OPTIONS # readconfig 1 # # CORE SEARCH PATH OPTIONS # rompath bios hashpath hash samplepath samples artpath artwork ctrlrpath ctrlr inipath ini fontpath . cheatpath cheat crosshairpath crosshair Make sure rompath is set to the bios folder. Save both files then start MESS.

    MESS Help

Tried using the built-in unzip ability of Windows as well as WinRAR...both extracts only show two folders, "artwork" and "hash". This was the newest release in January 2010. Maybe an older version would work best. I'll try that instead and see what I get. The NES and Atari2600 portions of the emulator work well though. And I did rename the BIOS to 7800.u7 and still get the same results. Actually the newer version of MESS seems to be looking for 2 bios files named: 7800.u7 and c300558-001a.u7 a7800.zip
  18. There's something kinda disturbing about those pics, reminds me of John Bobbit. But, your idea is very kool.
  19. It's kind of hidden in an obscure place: Start a game such as Kaboom! Press the TAB key Select Categories Then set the controller type for each port Good luck.
  20. You might try Fat Sorter it requires .NET Framework 3.5, so there's a good chance that it might work in Vista or 7, it works in XP just fine. Also there's FolderSort although it looks as though it was made for Win'98.
  21. Thanks Nukey, found 'em! I see why you italized the word Starpath. The Starpath games are the only ones grouped by their releasing company, I was trying to look up each SC game by it's name. And you also forgot THE most important part of the url. Uh-huh... Yeah dude, I was there otherwise I would have said I couldn't find the site, but I said I couldn't find the roms because I was there for just a few minutes last night and tried to find Phaser Patrol, Communist Muntants, and Escape of the Mindmaster - all by title I didn't scroll down to "S." I was not putting in a link to ask if that was the site so I left out the http:// part in my post. Although this was my fault for not looking at everything, you added to my frustration by adding in a little comment that was not the problem. Thanks. Well, that will teach me to do things half-assed, and then ask questions about it. Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse you. In your previous post you typed oldcomputer.com and I was only hinting that the url is theoldcomputer.com.
  22. And you also forgot THE most important part of the url.
