  1. Have to fly to Vegas? So does that mean you are going to Big Bang not because it will be a good event but because it is close? I'm not trying to insult or degrade you by asking that. If you are someone who has been hit by the economy, that makes more sense to me. I'm fortunate not to have that problem & can travel to all of the good events. Besides, I'm not talking about CGE. CGE is not the same weekend as the Big Bang. I am talking about the arcade tournament in NJ...the one that is attended by the HOF inductees that are blowing off Big Bang.

I'm afraid of flying. It has gotten worse each time I've flown.

I'm not aware of the New Jersey event...

If it turns out to be a crappy event...I'll find something else to do while I'm out there.

  2. Definitely a joystick game.

The sparks don't even hang on the rings at all...they come at you constantly! I could find a sweet spot and rapid fire at the enemy base and the sparks continuously respawn as fast as I shoot them and make no progress. The hard-chip arcade version of Star Castle is like that.

  3. Gee, why didn't I hear about this earlier???

The Big Bang is Ottumwa's Annual Video Game Festival, co-created by the Citizens of Ottumwa and the International Video Game Hall of Fame.

The title, "The Big Bang," is derived from the fact that "it all started in Ottumwa."

In the same way that the Universe began with a “Big Bang,” organized video game playing started with a similar explosion in Ottumwa, Iowa nearly thirty years ago.

As the birthplace of organized, competitive video game playing, the City of Ottumwa would like to invite you to come and celebrate Ottumwa’s unique video game legacy with a major video game festival.

The Big Bang 2010: Ottumwa’s Video Game Festival is a four-day event held concurrently with the Grand Induction Ceremonies for the International Video Game Hall of Fame & Museum (IVGHOF&M). Scheduled for August 5-8, 2010, the festival will feature contests, concerts, dealer showrooms, panel discussions, guest celebrities, costume contests, historic museum displays and movies. Plus, lots of further activities to be announced by the IVGHOF.

  4. Not Robotron - someone DID try that with that so-called computer keyboard add-on and it was the most "flickery thing they've ever seen" so it's not that one.

Not Tempest either, ummm...how many different Tron games have been put out for the 2600 already?

  5. That's right, a brand new Atari 2600 game was shown yesterday in Lombard, IL at the Video Game Summit. Only a select few people knew about this game being developed, and the finished product was set up to play yesterday. Footage of this new game will be posted later today on Youtube but I'll let you all speculate what it is, but here's a hint - they said this game could NEVER been ported to an Atari 2600.

(Those who were at the Video Game Summit - SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Let's see if they can figure it out!)

  6. You ought to start an NES Protos website modeled after Tempest's site...

Looking to trade some of my protos for protos that I don't own. Here they are:

    Hoppin' Mad (unreleased)

    Tecmo World Wrestling

    Bad News Baseball

The games are all tested and work perfectly, and the two released games are on long proto dev boards. this is one of two known copies of Hoppin' Mad, and I own the other, so this is pretty much you're only shot at getting it if you're interested. This game is incomplete on the third level, just as my other copy is, so it is my belief that this is as far as development ever got for this title. This specific ROM is also not released.

I can take extra pics for people who are actually interested.

I'm really only looking for trades for NES protos that I don't have. I'm interested in anything that is NOT on the list below as I already own the following prototypes:

  7. Nothing earth shattering, just some WIP games that are close to or are the final version (2600 and 7800). I also need to do some unreleased 8-bit carts that are fairly complicated like Destiny: The Cruiser and Lifespan. Stuff that needs to be done, but nothing that people are falling over themselves to see. :)

Some unreleased 8-bit carts? Color me interested.
