Whos planning on going to the Midwest gaming classic this year?
Crimefighter replied to jboypacman's topic in Events
Well there really wasn't anything closer that's reasonable. $75 a night, add the tickets, it's about the same amount that I would had paid at the Olympia. -

The Ramada in Waukesha...obviously I'll have to commute about 20 miles to Oconowomoc from there. -

Well I locked in a hotel, just that this hotel doesn't have as much as the Olympia. -

There's no more rooms at the hotel....sold out. Unfortunately, the hotels.com and orbitz.com don't recognize Oconowomac, WI ... where are the other hotels in the area? -
Whatever happened to that level designer program that was used for making levels for combat, indy 500, etc. ?

Hmmm...once I got to Wisconsin...it was a gully washer driving up on a two lane road from I-43 to Oconowomoc. Not fun if you're going there the first time and aren't familiar with the route and going off a map. I took I-39 straight up there...until it became a toll road and turned off. -
Is this actually the same version though that you had Tempest?
-
Hmm... I was told by the person who gave me to the rom many years ago NOT to release it. I guess either they got it from another source or they got permission. The rom I have works just fine on an emulator (where do you think I got the screenshots?). Tempest It appears someone else got the ROM another way and let the cat outta the bag.

Here's a bit more info, the hardware inside the machine is a mounted computer monitor. Since computer monitors can be bought used much cheaper than an actual arcade monitor, it uses a CRT monitor. The PC inside is a Penitum 3 733Mhz, which is good enough for all the classic games it has. The controls are wired into a keyboard. The OS is Windows 98, where the system boots straight into the game selection screen. -
Gameplay difference? Or final?

That's because they have that electronic alarm sensor in them.

Thinking of getting an Gamecube any advise?
Crimefighter replied to kevin242's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Unfortunately I would say you would be better off getting a Wii. Nintendo has pretty much stopped development on the Gamecube and any games that were in development were quickly modified to use the Wii motion controllers. I wanted to get Super Paper Mario for the Cube...but of course they scrapped it in favor of the Wii and won't do a seperate version for the Cube now. Sad to say they're changing games that would had been better played on a regular controller for motion controllers. -
There's a good reason why VGs aren't put on open racks....shoplifting. $50 a pop for a new release...

Ditto what he said. NEVER EVER throw computers into the regular trash. Take it to a thrift store, donate it, garage sale it, if it's broken take it to a recycle center...that's where it should go. I've personally grabbed units out of the trash that shouldn't had been in there in the first place. I've sold off throwaways for a few bucks too.

Found - MAME Aracde Machine for $400
Crimefighter replied to Crimefighter's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Well for one thing this shop had an arcade warehouse...but they were selling off the stock cause they no longer had the space...ironically they got their inventory moved out of there days before the Springfield tornado destroyed the building (that was one year ago this week!). The machine appears to be formally a Magic Sword game cause that was the overlay on the control panel. It's all classic games too...ones that require no more than two fire buttons. -

Yeah but similar cabs at midwest gaming classic had them too...no one called the cops... -
I went to a used game shop today and saw for sale a MAME arcade cab loaded with 600 games for $400, on the other side a dual arcade cab with the same setup except there were two monitors to play on for $500. Fair price, overpriced, or big bargin?

The worst Atari system is the one with the worst library.
