  1. To be "fair", it's pretty hard to be less lenient than Nintendo.
  2. I don't have the game itself yet (maybe next paycheck) but I did snag the koopa troopa and goomba amiibos friday that launched with the game. Only reason I was ready for that is because I kept up with the nintendo directs for once.
  3. Started in on Mask of Truth this week. Kinda expected the ending of Deception to be honest, although it's all still interesting.
  4. Bentley Bear is technically a Wonder Boy type game rather than a SMB2 type game. Personally if I were to attempt a platformer, I won't be touching anything Nintendo would just up and C&D once it's near completion.
  5. Well, if that's what they're planning then that's fine. The presentation seemed to make it look like they'd all hit at the same time so it seemed odd to me. Only other one from the list that I'm really looking for was punch out anyway, so I can wait.
  6. So I ended up getting mario bros yesterday, but I noticed that appeared to be the only game announced that's actually in the eshop (at least for me, being in Canada). Did the other games end up being a no-show or are they only available in other locations? Pretty sure I didn't just miss it in the list...
  7. necro-bump! So this last week I took a break from Graze Suit Alpha to take another stab at the scrolling here. Got it almost proper. Not entirely sure how to make sure CHARBASE is set properly in time for the final row - you'll notice it's off by a line. Making a smaller map seems to make the error larger than smaller as well! Oh well. Use the code any way you like. Adding vertical scrolling required dropping to assembly for a couple things - namely to move when the interrupt function fires, adjusting charbase, and changing the sizes of the top and bottom displayed zone. horizontal scrolling is reworked to allow different speeds (Same as the vertical scrolling) but it doesn't require dropping to assembly. It just updates what parts of the map to drop on the screen. Also, to update the charbase I had to insert a quick lda/sta into std_routines.asm. I've included that in the zip as well. 2017-09-30-rpgtiledemo.bas.a78 2017-09-30-rpgtiledemo.bas.bin 2017-09-30-rpgtiledemo.zip

Updated the rom. Fixed a spawning issue with randomly moving enemies - noticeable especially in easy mode where they're all random. Enemies were spawning but their speed was being set to 0 (just not saved) so they were kinda sitting just off the screen laughing at the player. Also added the cannon. Most of it's AI is in, and it can shoot. This enemy flies around like others do, bouncing off walls. When it gets ready to shoot, it will slow down and come to a complete stop. It'll then shoot and choose a new direction to fly off in. When it's not targeting a player, the turret will swivel around. Right now the player targeting isn't done. So when you see a cannon flying blissfully around without rotating it's turret, you know it's actually targeting you. Beyond that, the only thing that I still need to do is do an adjustment on where the bullet actually spawns - so it spawns at the end of the turret instead of in the center of the enemy.
  10. Likely updating again Thursday/Sept 21st!

  11. Still reading through Utawarerumono Mask of Deception - I have Mask of Truth bought to continue it when I get to the end so I'll be going through this probably most of October. However, also picked up Ys VIII yesterday which I may or may not play at the same time. Or I may focus on Ys on my Saturday Game Nights and play Deception/Truth during the rest of the week. Yeesh, games are piling up faster than I can play again, and I was doing so well at knocking the backlog down in the first half of the year too. ^^
  12. Try changing the starting location of the player's Y coordinate in your "restorestartposdata". Maybe it's failing the test to land on the bottom row of tiles when it spawns (perhaps already inside it?) which makes him fall out of the screen. Then when he's respawned, he goes right back to the same location and it repeats.
  13. Typically in minecraft if it takes that long to break a block it'll just turn to dust at the end and not drop anything. I mostly use the dust myself for automating various things, particularly with making xp traps (ender farms, gold farms, good ol' spawner traps or blaze farms, etc) I have made elevators and multi-destination railway stations as well. Some more creative than others. I never tend to get completely bored with minecraft all the same since I keep switching up what I want to do. I'll build for a bit, then explore for a bit, build a bit, explore a bit, do some farming, run around some caves, etc etc. Typically this results with me having like 20-40 half done projects that get slowly worked on bit by bit but never end up getting done.
  14. If they end up being 6-8 dollars each, I think I'd be down for that for the games I want.
  15. While I usually agree with the sentiment, little games like this I don't particularly mind having digitally. Price pending I might eventually pick up Mario Bros and Punch Out from the initial list. If they release donkey kong and the like later on I'll likely consider those as well.
  16. Looks like the launch edition has bonus physical goodies so I'll probably pop for it myself if I see it on Oct 10th. I hate being weak against that kinda thing.
  17. That's what I'm hoping for to be honest - that I'm just reading too much into the wording.
  18. If you want to be technical about it, Nintendo didn't make all of the NES's greatest hits either!

Updated the rom. Only changes this time is a reworking of the enemy speeds to overall slow them down (still needs work but certainly more playable) and a reworking for how enemy palettes are set. Hopefully the new enemy type will be added next week.
  20. Roms updated in the first post. 1. Updated the speed setting for the enemies. Still not satisfied with it, but the mobs are at least overall slower. They weren't intended to be as fast as they've been lately. I'll be changing this again. 2. Changed the way the enemy colors are set. Currently the hue is determined with rand with the lum values hardcoded to particular values. I'll end up making a table of values later based on combinations I start seeing from this. Once more things are in I think I'll write a quick color set/test routine. The new enemy unfortunately isn't ready yet so leaving it out. Most of the enemy is already in the code (graphics, collision detection, etc) but it's AI still needs to be completed/tested/etc.
  21. I think I have this on PS3 already, although if I do I still haven't played it. (one of the impulse used game purchases) That probably means I won't have too much interest in picking it up on switch, unlike Cave Story+ which I didn't already have somewhere else. Then again since this version will have all the previous DLC rolled into it, that's a pro point to picking it up. However ultimately I'll probably only pick it up if it's a physical release which they didn't really say in the article. I'd be a little worried about how they word "will include all of the previously released DLC" however. Would almost make you wonder if they're planning completely new DLC to sell separately which ends up defeating the purpose of wanting a complete game. Eh, I'll just keep an eye at gamestop to see if it shows up.
  22. Will update graze again sunday evening. Mainly speed fix, but hopefully new enemy too.

  23. Just doublechecked info from the maria document I have, but unfortunately you don't have access to all 8 palettes in 320D. Just like in 320B, which it's based on, only the top palette bit is used for determining palette so you only get palette P0 and P4. (My world was crushed when I realized that for 320B way back. )
  24. Continuing with Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception. I picked up the sequel, Mask of Truth, yesterday at gamestop so I guess I know what game I'll be playing/reading next. I was rather surprised to see it there honestly as for some reason I thought it wasn't being released until later this month.
  25. Not sure what's wrong with it myself, it seems to display fine. (note: I'm looking at it with prosystem, which can be kinda off at times in certain situations) Got a screenshot for what you're seeing?
