  1. That's what the P on the end label means? It's on a copy of joust I have here, which plays normal... otherwise it looks identical to the scan on the atari age site. -- Mord
  2. Excellent, I'll be keeping a close eye on how things develop. -- Mord
  3. Just a question, will the development of this project be made public somewhere as it's being done? So those of us who are feeling WAY inept at our 2600 abilities to actually contribute can at least watch and learn bit by bit. -- Mord
  4. I have the same situation than you. I begin to follow Andrew's tutorials. Now I can draw playgrounds on the 2600. But I still hard learning how to use sprites. Andrew's tutorials are indeed invaluable, and hopefully he'll get around to finishing them one way or another! Also consider subscribing to the Stella mailing list and lurk. Watching the big guys go on about the various topics is worth the time, even if it's a bit high traffic at times. -- Mord
  5. I can see this backfiring on them tho, when gamers suddenly have more cash to burn on current crap, and buy more xbox and ps2 titles. -- Mord

    Ow!!!

You are getting soft! I'd have to agree that CX40s hurt myself. I tend to keep my atari sessions short mostly because of that, which means I'll probably never roll Sea Quest over myself. "Just 100000 more points, just 100000 more poin-AH! HAND CRAMP! %$#&! my sub! ... both of them!! Aw crap..." -- Mord Mind you, at this point I definitely need a lot more than 100k points to roll it over on a good day.
  7. Maybe you (we!) have luck and it will show up in Google's cache. Hopefully. Looking at archive.org, looks like the last update it did on the site was in mid 2003, although I only checked for 'www.videobrewery.com' itself. -- Mord
  8. Right now I'm standing only with: Atari 2600 (Black Plastic model, but broken...) Gemini (What I use because of the above...) NES SuperNES Gameboy (original) Gameboy Advance Game Cube Sega Master System Sega Genesis (Model 1 and Model 2) Game Gear Dreamcast Playstation (original type) Playstation 2 And I think that's all of it for now until I track more things down. I have games for various systems I don't have yet, such as Vectrex, Atari 7800, Intellivision, Saturn, and a mysterious Black Cart I got at a flea market that could be Intellivision, but since I have no system to test it in, and it completely lacks a label... I take comfort in that I feel it's not bad for one year of yardsales and thrift stores. -- Mord
  9. Sort of.You can't kill Ganon without an instrument of stabity death, but everything else you can.. Well, I don't know about that (And it's been years since I've played...) but the magic wand was the equivalent to the second sword in power and short-range you could stab monsters with it just as easily. The kicker was that you had to have the silver arrows to finish ganon off, otherwise his hp basically reset and he kept going. I should try to get a copy of the game again... I find myself wanting to go through it, although I think I'd prefer going without swords again rather than without saving! -- Mord
  10. I'd add a Deluxe after that if I had any say in it. -- Mord ookee, let's just put off getting an xbox a few more months.
  11. But darned difficult to control at times I find. I don't know how often I kept flying into the bloody enemies the wrong way before I switched over to Robin Hood. Looks good tho. -- Mord
  12. Out of curiousity, does anyone know how many people were generally involved with creating a typical 7800 game and if it was comparable to the staff of the typical NES game? It would certainly be a factor to consider imo. -- Mord
  13. "Apex Digital is planning to unveil a new game console called ApeXtreme at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The console features a 1.4 GHz Via C3 processor, 40 GB hard drive, 256 MB RAM, and a 64 MB DeltaChrome graphics chip by S3. The console will play PC games running on a Windows XP Embedded operating system. Other features include a built-in-modem, Ethernet, four front-side USB ports, MP3, DVD and VCD playback, and a remote control." http://www.gamepro.com/gamepro/domestic/ga...ews/32599.shtml Looks like it has a harddrive to me... I must look into this further. -- Mord
  14. Let us know when your inbox has been reassembled. -- Mord I sleep for just 10 hours and...
  15. Heh. The opposite for me. I have a pad sitting in one of my boxes and no games that use it. Come to think of it, I don't even know if the darned thing works... -- Mord
  16. Pac-Man was the third video game I ever owned. (Combat and Missile Command being the first two, Demons to Diamonds the fourt, Space Invaders the fifth... oh god how do I remember these things. ) At any rate, I played Pac-Man a lot back then when I got it probably more because I was starting to get tired of the first two, and hadn't played the arcade.. So it was either Pac-Man or bust. With E.T., I don't recall having any real grudges against it as a kid. It was easy enough to beat for me, although I never did find out about the easter eggs until later... like about a couple days ago. Either way, while I never hated it, it wasn't a game I'd go back to and play for hours on end either. It just never had the replay value. -- Mord
  17. Fun thing is, I've seen people try to trade in their old atari 2600 things at the EB Games here a couple times over the last year. -- Mord "Well... we could take them, but they have a trade-in value of $0.00..."
  18. Give them a couple years. They'll probably decide to release a game explaining why. -- Mord
  19. You know, I forgot all about those books being there when I was reading through the tutorials myself. Hmm... I have a few hours unless Lament of Innocence lures me away. *opens another browser window and starts* -- Mord
  20. Give me a month or so to recover from the last month's worth of video game purchases, then you can rest assured I'll be interested. Flea markets may be FUN, but they burn a hole in my wallet faster than a propane torch. -- Mord
  21. I'm still trying to hunt down a 5200 and 7800 locally, although so far no luck. The most I've found have been gemini's, 2600 jrs, and the black 4-swichers. Probably the most frustrating thing is that I have managed to find a single 7800 game (1-on-1 basketball) and no way to play it. -- Mord
  22. I'd say if there is another video game crash, it would be caused more by the consumers than the retailers. You know, when we go to buy the next gen console one day and say "Hell no way am I paying $1500 for this at launch!" So long as nintendo stays in the hardware race and keeps aiming for their magic $199.99 launch price, we'll be fine. -- Mord
  23. Nope, I'm over here in New Brunswick, although I'd love to attend. Still, it's not until the end of march so perhaps if I can get a few days off of work. -- Mord

    Saturday Finds

I generally go by memory myself. Basically, if I don't recognize it, I don't have it. If I do recognize it, but it's cheap enough, I'll generally get it anyway just to have some doubles for trading. -- Mord
  25. Just got back from the flea market at the mall myself and returned with: Kangaroo, Air Raiders, Challenge, Pitfall (blue), Space Cavern (blue), phoenix, Swordquest:Fireworld, Star Wars! The Empire Strikes Back, one-on-one basketball (7800), and Robinhood/Sirlancealot doubleender. On average it was about 3-4 dollars per cartridge, canadian. About the cheapest I find around here. Must go back again next week. -- Mord
