  1. Well, we're up to 95 now, although that's still trailing the leading option that has over 900. -- Mord

    Tank game remake

Bah, I don't spin around and get dizzy when I'm hit! I agree tho, fun. -- Mord
  3. I use a stainless steel ruler with 600 grit sanpaper wrapped around the end. After that I blow it out with compressed air. Thanks for the info. The inside didn't seem too bad, although I'd wonder how long the cola on the bottom of it was there. Hopefully the contacts are just dirty as heck. -- Mord
  4. Already ahead of you. Been hitting the stores and flea markets and yard sales in town most of the year, planning on taking a look at various online places as well soon. Still, I've been fairly fortunate finding Atari 2600 things in 2003, it's where I've found all the atari stuff I currently own. About 33 games, and two consoles. At this point, if I see carts or consoles from previous generations I try to snap'em up. -- Mord
  5. So while I was out trawling around the stores, I happened across a nifty little gizmo that let me hook my atari systems up to my current tv. Brought it home and checked them out with the following results. The 4-switcher doesn't seem to work. Power is fed in, something happens on the screen like rolling lines. I did a search on the forums for cleaning the contacts (using a folded piece of paper) but that didn't change anything. I'm going to open it up later today or tomorrow morning to see what sort of gunk is probably inside and see if that helps any. Just in case it comes back to cleaning the contacts tho, anyone have any other ideas how it can be done? The paper took some gunk off at first, but I was wary of attempting anything else. The Gemini, however, worked! Guess I can finally find a place for it in the room with the others! -- Mord
  6. My original 6 switcher back in the 80's stopped working mysteriously and vanished overnight. They said it left home to go to college but knowing them they probably took it out back and shot it. The jr model I had in the early 90's ended up being put in storage, and when I was away to college, got thrown out complete with the games.... Last year I rescued a 4 switcher from a yard sale down the street shortly after moving to town for 3 bucks CDN (along with it's 8 games). It was -filthy- It took a lot of tissue and the like to get the grime off the poor thing and I STILL don't know if it actually works or not (Or my Gemini which I got later in the summer for about 5 bucks) because I haven't got a TV suitable to hook it up to! I plan on fixing that later on this month tho, one way or another.
  7. Hm... SEE SEE!!! Guess I'll wait for the Thrust Titanic+ Version, but knowing my luck that plan'll sink through.
  8. lol. I'm in the same boat. I still need to locate a Saturn so I can play the game I got for it last summer at a community flea market. (I went in with 60 bucks, came out with 3 bags of systems and carts. ) Realized we have pawn shops and the like in town just the other day as well soooo.... well, I'm hitting the shops tomorrow morning.
  9. My christmas just got a little merrier. Just got a belated present from my sister and her husband. The Atari TV Games 10-in-1 joystick!
  10. Of the games I owned growing up, my favorite would have been River Raid. H.E.R.O. -would- have been it but I only had the chance to play it for like 2 hours one cold christmas holiday. Of course, I only liked River Raid when I was playing it. Watching my father practically rolling the score was intimidating.

    New to Boards

Guess I should introduce myself as well, although I'm still primarily in lurker mode. I've always been big on gaming ever since my mother brought home our first 2600 waaaay back when and I've just progressed through the systems as they went. Found Atari Age about a month ago and have been absorbing info ever since. Looking into coding for the 2600, but have to get my mind set into the proper way of thinking for it first. No kidding! My link list is growing daily!
  12. I have some ideas, but way too rough to bother trying to explain. Especially since I'll probably rehash it into something completely different before I even start the first line of code. We'll see how I work on taming the beast enough to run some simple demos first.... and it's been many years since I've done much with assembly itself so give me some time. But regardless, if it wasn't for your tutorials Andrew, I never would have even started. Thanks!
