Lotharek MiST v1.5 now available for pre-order
dakidski replied to eightbit's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
I got my Mist last month, and I'm still in awe. Hooked it up to a Trinitron crt vga 30khz monitor. I've set up three different sd-cards with different cores; ST, Ami and Mac. These cores are rock solid! I'm selling off my Amiga 600 now, it is simply not worth the hassle, after I got the Mist. (Keeping my real Mac and my Atari ST's though.) What I like about the machine, is that it comes as a finished box. No endless add-ons like the MistER. The product is done and fully contained. Lovely case, lovely build quality. I don't recommend using the Mist with a CRT TV in 480i 15khz, as some cores lose picture sync when direction 'left' on classic joysticks is used. Also, you need to get a Mist compatible vg2scart cable with resistors installed in the cable, as some pins are too high voltage and could fry your expensive PVM. (Theoretically.) As for joysticks. - For USB I only got the original Xbox 360 wired controller to work. I tried 7 others USB-joypads without luck. - 8bitdo 2.4ghz genesis replicas through the classic joystick connector is a no go as well. - Sega Mega Drive pads work fine in the right port. - Classic Amiga mice works fine, but I ended up just using an usb mouse. I highly recommend getting a Mist, especially if your main thing is classic micro computers. In fact, I'm relieved that I didn't purchase the MistER instead! As others have said, I feel a resurgence on the horizon. The general stagnation of core development and maintenance suffers equally on both Mist and MistER. But what's there is really good. -
Same, depending on price.

No, I meant a new hdd image with a new gui and support for about 1600 hdd installed games. It needs a 4gb SD card now. And yes, people need to email peter or visit his forum.

New HD image is out, and boy oh boy is it amazing!

Wait what, you can't ban Peter!

Will there still be a 'basic' version offered? I really loved the simplicity of the text only list. And when will the new image be offered to previous supporters of your work? and as always: excellent work!

I just wanted to clarify and apologize. I reported errors a while ago with revision B. But I was wrong. It turns out that it was my Atari 1040STe that was dying. (It had already killed two goteks.) I tested both rev A and B on my spare (and fully working) Atari 1040STe and they ran great!! This is also a reminder to hoard several ST's, because you might need a spare one day! regards, dakidski

Hi, I recieved both 'revision b' units and finally had time to test them out. I already had purchased and used the first 'revision a' model iwith Peter's image. Sadly the new models are no good to me, they keep corrupting the image written to sd-card after the second boot. I tested both of them, and when I went back to 'revision a', everything worked as intended. I also tried several different sd-cards, but the same happens. The setup is exactly the same, and 'revision a' works fine without problems. Regards, dakidski Edit. I will reflash the older firmware and see what happens.

Digital release please, for all us losers that didn't make it to Silly Venture!

Can I use this tool to create those virtual 16MB disk images I've seen around? They are very handy for sio2sd, some of them are themed like 'Infocom Collection' and contains tons of games.

Retro adventures in Taiwan - so far a bust
dakidski replied to S1500's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm in Rome and it's pretty good retro-wise. I've seen (not purchased though) stuff here I could otherwise only get in Japan. As well as some nice regional exclusive stuff like Italian SG-3000's etc. -
