  2. I browsed this briefly. I have to say that there will be a dedicated few who preserve at least some of this tradition. For instance, my son Orion. He's 5. I've never "pushed" him with classic consoles. His mom (my ex, I'd never do this) bought him his own non-toy tablet recently. He has a decommissioned Iphone of his own. My boy is OBSESSED with the classic systems. He has a portable Genesis that he's inseparable from. He LOVES Colecovision, NES, Atari, and Intellivision--and he knows the differences. However, you'll all be shocked to know that his absolute favorite is...drum roll please...the BALLY ARCADE aka ASTROCADE. I talks to almost everyone he knows about Incredible Wizard ad nauseum. So, even if most are maybe not into it--my son certainly is. I'm soon to get at least a C64, hopefully an A8 and someday and Amiga. He's already excited about this stuff, and he tried to help me today with a pile of Coleco parts. In short, THERE IS HOPE...we just need to pass it on to our kids/grandkids. Then again, I think as a 35 year old myself it's probably a little strange myself to be obsessed over systems I never even saw growing up in Montana (first system played was an NES, unless you count the days sorely missed of arcades and pinball).
  3. Furthermore, I've plain stopped buying these carts without overlays...
  4. Bump on this, if anyone has orphan overlays I'm still interested.
  5. Thank you all for this. I'm many years behind on this, as I started in the NES era due to my age (35) and only recently got a PS2. I have a Wii, but I use it almost exclusively for emulation. It's weird; my "gaming" passions straddle JRPG's mostly and dinosaur machines like 2600, Bally, Coleco, and INTV. The computer thing is new for me, I never had these machines but wished I did when compared to my parents' 8086 AT/T computer. I'm 100% decided I want to eventually go for Amiga, but for 8-bit I'm still thinking I guess. Like you guys have said, there's a lot to be said for both A8 and C64...
  6. I've got that A-8 best games pack, so I've gotten a good taste of the software. I meant on physical floppies or tape, but it seems like no one actually does that any more...
  7. I guess I'm trying to figure out how to get images from PC to tape, disk, etc for both systems. This seems exceedingly complicated. I have a soft spot for floppies, which doesn't seem shared with many people. Can cart games run from floppy?
  8. Harvey--thanks for this info! I'm in the uncomfortable space in-between. I emulate and am cool with multi/flashcarts (best think to ever happen to my astrocade), but I like the physical product as well. In some ways now, I'm trying to flesh out whether I want to try and buy both an A8 and a C64 or just one or the other. I'm starting to lean towards C64; I don't know. Lots of choices. Would be interested in hearing what people think of that as well.
  9. I'm still trying super hard to figure out what games need more than 48K but no more than 64....I can't find this for the life of me!
  10. This is great info. Where is this 64k required list?
  11. I'm trying to find an answer to this question, but not having much luck. I love the "look" of the 800, but I hear I need the 800XL. How much gaming ability is lost between these two? Trying to make an informed decision...Thanks!
  12. UPDATE--I talked her down to 175 and purchased this. My God, what a haul. I've never seen anything in such pristine condition, especially the games. It came with all above, 4 controllers, and 2 Wico controllers. Roller and Wheel are in box--like it was bought yesterday. It was two adults who had this and are now elderly and didn't really have any kids play it. Some of this will probably be listed on here soon. The dust cover has kept the plastic on the console feeling squeaky new.
  13. Yeah, I didn't figure it was the homebrew collection. I believe this is an original-owner system and I'm currently verifying that it works.
  14. Hey all, not sure if this is the right place to post...but I'm wondering what you guys think about price on this if all function? (It includes a roller controller I plan to keep, and I may keep some of this). They said $200. Sounds like a steal to me, and most of these including the console I already have. Lots of it sounds pretty complete. If any of you would kill to get this as well, let me know. Hello! I'm wondering what kind of price I could be looking at for these items. I may not have all of them in the end, but just for the whole ball-park: Coleco Vision Video Game System with manual (includes a brown cover) Coleco Vision (Expansion Module # 1) with manual Coleco Vision (Expansion Module # 2) with manual – original box Game Cartridges with manual (all arranged in a case for game cartridges) • Blackjack/Poker • Buck Rogers, Planet of Zoom • Carnival • Donkey Kong • Dukes of Hazzard • Frogger • Frogger II • Gorf • LadyBug • Looping • Mouse Trap • Ms. Pac-Man • Omega Race • Pepper II • QBert • Space Fury • Space Panic • Subroc • Time Pilot • Turbo • Venture • War Games Various controllers; cords etc. Thanks!
  15. Hello all... I think C64 is my next victim. However, after watching a whole lot of videos (I'm totally not prepared for this), I'm confused about PAL and NTSC. I live in NTSC territory, but I understand most of the best games are PAL (I'll bet someone will disagree with this). How is this remedied? Does 1084 monitor solve these problems and/or a power converter? This is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. For instance, let's say I load up a Euro tape game...will it work on NA equip? Thanks!
  16. I've still been following this, but I've gotten bogged down with my son being born, you know, those kinds of little details. After watching a certain Youtube video, I have concerns about PAL/NTSC. How is this resolved? I live in NTSC land but I understand the vast majority of software for both this and the C64 are PAL? ?!?!??!? I'm sure you guys know all about this issues and how to deal with it with an A500 (what I'm thinking I need to start with).
  17. Oh, and War is magnificent as well...but not quite like this.
  18. Yes, thanks for all that info. It blew me away when I turned it on. It's more like Colecovision quality!
  19. What a stunningly gorgeous game. I have not seen any others like it. And what fantastic music! Where there any other games of this quality graphically and musically?
  20. No hurry on the points! Thanks for all you do here.
  21. These sound like fun! Adam, do you have a running tally of current points?
  22. Thank you for your hearty congrats! Theodore says thank you!
