HSC01 Round 4: The Incredible Wizard
nd2003grad replied to ballyalley's topic in Bally High Score Club
LT was interesting, it's the only basic game I've spent any time with. I was a little frustrated by the jumping mechanism, but this console never ceases to amaze me with its versatility and unique characteristics. -

I do too, and I wish! The actual wording is "Worrior, while you developed science, we developed magic." It is one of the sentences uttered in disturbing monotone by the actual arcade cabinet. -

For those who wondered, I've tested a ton of retro computer systems now. Thanks again for the zip, Vector. I'm pleased to announce that, so far, I love this system the best! The newer ones like Amiga and ST are cool as well (I think I'm a Commodore guy--Amiga seems to mostly have the advantage, although I tried Lode Runner on ST and it is TIGHT), but I like the graphic quality and ports on the C64! Looking to get one sometime relatively soon as long as my wife doesn't kill me!

Pleasuredome was included in my case as well.
-
Thank you. I think I am getting somewhere now.

. You are correct oh wise one.
-
Did anyone else like Terminal Velocity?
-
It came loaded on the 286 computer hard drive.
-
BassGuitari--I was thinking about this. I did have the Friendlyware one, but I DID have one called PC-Man as well that sounds like what you are describing! It came with a group of other similar games, including a text one called Empires that it took me FOR-EV-ER to find (not the well-known ones!).
-
Hey, I think I had PC-Man too! ASCII!!!! YES!
-
Wow, I was going to mention Friendlyware! Would you believe that most of my first experiences play, um, "classic arcade games" were in that program?
-
Are these commands run in a command prompt, or through the GUI? I can feel the noob coursing through me...
-
Wow, I haven't heard of Prodigy in forever!
-
Well, that about says it all. I have run Mame in the past and tried to install it on the computer, and I have a large amount of ROMs. However, any game I click on it says that it is missing ROM files or chd. I literally cannot get a single game to play on the system. I am guessing I have some sort of configuration wrong, does anybody know how to attack this?

Yes, that too...I'm just new to this and don't really know how far it got, and if the games are playable on an earlier version? -

I'm a little confused, does this mean the release I have that can't find the games is the way it is supposed to be currently? Once again I'm sorry about all the family issues. That's also why am asking for somebody else from the community who is more freed up right now help me if possible. -

Maybe someone can help me with this... This project looks FANTASTIC and it seems like a lot of people involved are having some issues; my heart goes out to you all. Perhaps a community member can help me. I downloaded 1.2 beta, and maybe I had an incorrect link or something. I get it to run, but like 90% of the games say "file not found?" Am I doing something wrong? -
There seems to be a little lack of DOS stuff here. What are some of your favorite old-skool DOS games? I know I grew up with Lode Runner, Falcon, and Arctic Fox among others. These were all available on other platforms, but they were what were available to a Montana kid around 1989. I also liked text adventures, such as the stellar Enchanted Castle and (what I didn't even know at the time was) an excellent but incomplete shareware RPG called Dungeons of Kairn.

Vectorgamer, thanks again.

Well, can you guys still tell me what games make this system happen for you? Desert island list?
